All signal, no noise.
Are you familiar with this phrase? It’s a precise, direct way to describe the choice we are each facing at this time. Are you consumed and distracted by the cacophony — the noise — of these confusing times? Or do you seek to listen to your inner wisdom, express the clarity of your inner light — your signal — and perhaps be a beacon to others? Are you choosing to live as the signal or the noise?
From recent reports and questions I’ve received from clients who read a variety of astrologers, it sounds like there’s lots of hyperbole and hysteria being broadcast into the world, amounting to a lot of noise. It’s not surprising given the unprecedented, challenging nature of our current planetary weather as people are trying to make sense of things. Many are scared, panicked, but feeding the fear is only making things worse.
Over the course of four decades, I’ve studied with some of the best astrological educators. Thoughtful scholars, visionary philosophers like Dane and Leyla Rudyhar and my beloved friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza. and many others. I admit I now mostly live in my own contemplative bubble when it comes to astrology. Thankfully my bubble is infinite spacious space, the starry heavens under which I often sit, listening, asking questions, pondering alignments, seeking guidance, then translating what I have heard via my posts and consulting sessions. My goal is, to the best of my abilities, to be a signal, not the noise, as the saying goes.
At the inception of the previous SolLunar Cycle on September 17, which took place at the beginning sidereal Virgo, I woke up with a felt sense of being in a space of non-duality. I was suddenly able to walk with a greater acceptance of this intensely polarized field we are in the midst of at this time while also knowing exactly where I stood on issues. It arrived like a holy gift, a grace, and I’ve been sitting with and settling into this awareness over the past four weeks. I have become less reactive to what I see outside of me but even more determined to live my truth with positive, compassionate intentions and actions. This awareness is the answer to my long-standing prayers and intentions. This energetic of knowing one’s inner truth and being discerning in what one chooses to express is part of the gift of Virgo. A clarity of thought, a purity of signal. I am grateful.
Now this New SolLunar Cycle happens at the end of astronomical Virgo and builds upon the gifts of the previous Cycle. Both Sun and Moon are aligned with Arcturus which is the primary star of the constellation Bootes and is the fourth brightest star in our heavenly backdrop. Arcturus’s directive is to oversee the safe ascension — i.e. evolution — of Earth and of humanity. It is associated with wise leaders and teachers who are often working behind the scenes to ensure we won’t self-destruct like we have in previous civilizations. Arcturus’s energy helps create safe conditions that support the continuation of our existence. Bootes symbolizes standing up against totalitarian world powers, encouraging humanity to take strong actions against authoritarians and tyrants, making sure we will be free, free to be ourselves, which is our birthright as citizens of Earth. This is the theme for this SolLunar Cycle.
Here are a few key dates of this historic SolLunar Cycle: October 18 is a decisive day to watch with Sun squares Saturn and Mars squares Jupiter. Two key retrograde cycles complete: Mercury on November 3 — Election Day, VOTE! — and Mars on November 13, Things will come to a head or bring closure around these dates. The Halloween Full Moon is linked to erratic and original Uranus. And November 12 marks a major completion and Jupiter and Pluto make their final conjunction, not happening again for 13 years. I recently posted a longer piece called Raw and Real: Pluto in 2020 about the longer range aspects at play during this unprecedented time in history, in case you want to learn more.
Nick Anthony Fiorenza ~ December 7 1953 – October 24 2020
My dear friend, sidereal mentor and colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza is gone. Nick was one of a kind. He transformed astrology through his pioneering experience and research in astronomical astrology. Nick brought much joy and wisdom to all who knew him. Fly in Peace, my beloved friend.
I needed peace doves and flowers in this time of harvest, so I took these pictures as a reminder. May Peace prevail on the bountiful, beautiful Earth. In Beauty, it is finished.

New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Virgo
At the New Moon, you are sprouting like a seed with new creative inspiration. Receive your unique insights by sitting in mediation or just be open to new possibilities arising within you from the sea of infinite creation.
Fri October 16
New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Virgo: Our New SolLunar Cycle happens at the end of astronomical Virgo.
This New Moon is being aggravated by an opposition to retrograde Mars in Pisces and a tense square to Pluto in sidereal Sagittarius, adding fuel to these fiery times. No doubt, a healing crisis is at hand, meaning, it’s simply time to deal with buried issues, boiling to the surface, facing things head on. We are being given the opportunity to either get lost in the fear of powerlessness or to rise up with a clarity and calmness of mind and heart, claiming our inner power so we can’t and won’t be controlled. Dynamic times, to be sure.
Sat October 17
Moon/Venus/Mercury retrograde in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries: This alignment loves to gather together, is extremely communicative and seeks to create harmony in relationships. As Libra rules both the arts and the justice system, the influence of Uranus can lead to a shocking turn of events or spark surprising inspiration that comes out of the blue.
Sun October 18
Sun in Libra square Saturn in Capricorn: This serious aspect leads to the birth of new conditions in your life. For some, that means things are ending, or others, it is time to commit. You might be presented with an offer.
Mars retrograde in Pisces square Jupiter in sidereal Sagittarius: This tense square is confrontational, even militaristic. No more fence-sitting. It forces choices that must be made so improvement will eventually occur. This might involve a health issue, conflicts with law enforcement, or seeking resolution to a current conflict.
Venus in Leo opposite Neptune in Aquarius: This annual opposition pairs two planets linked to imagination, creativity and compassion. With an opposition, it’s important to examine all sides of an issue and learn from another’s point of view as they also learn from you. It can magnetize money and love or help you move forward on a creative project.
Vesta in Leo opposite Ceres in Aquarius: Focus — Vesta — on your friendships or community relationships, nurturing — Ceres — those connections in delightful, creative acts.
Mon October 19
Mercury retrograde/Juno conjunction in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries: This is the second time Mercury is aligning with the asteroid of partnerships; the third time will be on November 26. Perhaps you are reviewing contracts, researching who and how you want to partner with others, including a lover, business partner, counselor. Today can shine some inner clarity or bring a surprising offer.
Venus in Leo trine Jupiter in Sagittarius: This trine tends to bring good news, financial support and promotes a sense of wellbeing and optimism. You might purchase something of beauty for yourself or gift another.
Tue October 20
Moon/South Lunar Node conjunction in Scorpio square Venus in Leo: This tension pressures you to know what your values are and what you will or won’t tolerate. It assists you to move out of an old energetic pattern or rut you have been stuck in, moving on to more vibrant possibilities, including a new relationship. As Venus also makes an exact square to the Lunar Nodes today, there might be some startling political news or passings of cultural icons.
Wed October 21
Venus in Leo trine Pluto in Sagittarius: This positive trine deepens our relationships to be more raw, real and revealing. It feels good to be seen because you are willing to share and be seen.
Moon in Sagittarius sextile Mercury retrograde/Juno in Libra: Positive news arrives regarding negotiations. Take a walk with your colleagues in the fresh air and beauty of nature, sure to revitalize all, and help discover new terrain to be explored.

Fri October 23 – Sat October 24
First Quarter Moon: Moon in Capricorn square Sun in Libra: It’s an ambitious, productive Friday with this square but it can lead to conflicts or misunderstandings. The pressures of your personal or professional responsibilities might feel overwhelming. Some of you might work late into the night or through the weekend.
Mars retrograde in Pisces square Pallas Athene in Sagittarius: Some news might come to light leading you to rethink your strategy, plans or creative project. People are willing to go to bat for what they believe is right.
Sun October 25
Mercury retrograde/Sun conjunction in sidereal Libra: This tightly-wound conjunction can aggravate the mind, the nervous system or your communications with others due to its pin-pointed and direct nature. May you experience its gift: extraordinary mental clarity and focus.
Mon October 26 – Tue October 27
Venus in Virgo quincunx Ceres in Aquarius: This practical and solutions-oriented aspect helps us discover new ways to nurture our relationships that we had not thought about before. Some realize how they have been behaving toward another is not in anyone’s best interests, including theirs. Time to make a subtle adjustment, that’s the gift of a quincunx.
Moon/Neptune conjunction in Aquarius: This monthly pairing is collaborative, friendly, community-minded. Aquarian energy is often on the forefront of change. Time to move beyond moldy thought-boxes and expand your consciousness or point of view.
Wed October 28
Moon/Chiron conjunction in Pisces quincunx Sun in sidereal Libra: Both of these astrological signs are kind, peace-loving and compassionate but they can also be co-dependent, falsely nice versus being truthful. Uncomfortable conversations may arise so speak your truth with love and encourage the same from others. Some may need to sacrifice something, like giving up some anticipated free time in order to help another in need.
Thu October 29
Moon/Mars retrograde conjunction in Pisces: This aspect triggers the need to do something about the suffering you see in the world. Adopt a pet, a child, make a new friend. Willingly share your bounty with those in need. Focus on the element of water for rejuvenation, like visiting a hot spring, practicing qi gong or tai chi, day dreaming by the ocean or flowing water.
Fri October 30
Moon in Aries opposite Mercury retrograde in Libra: This triggering event that precedes tomorrow’s dynamic Full Moon helps people communicate their individual needs within relationships. Some might have a short fuse or emotional outburst or need to suddenly take a break from a relationship due to the influence of Aries.

Full Moon in sidereal Aries/Libra
The Full Moon is the birth point of the current SolLunar Cycle. This can be a time of celebration or crisis, depending on your life circumstance. Feel the joy and relax into new discoveries and directions.
Sat October 31
Full Moon in astronomical Aries/Libra: Moon/Uranus conjunction in Aries opposite Sun in Libra: This extraordinary Full Moon coincides with All Hallow’s Eve — a time to remember the ancestors — and is the day which falls halfway between Fall Equinox and Winter Solstice in our Northern Hemisphere. This Full Moon, a polarizing portal, is linked to Uranus, and is sure to be full of surprises, shocking news, exceptionally eccentric and original Halloween costumes. Accidents may happen or sudden shift in plans or detours. Upsets can occur in key relationships, linked to Libra’s influence, like someone pulling out of a deal nearly done or suddenly announcing they are leaving a relationship. It can also be full of delightful surprises if you are open to being open to something new and different.
Sun November 1
Mercury retrograde in Libra square Saturn in Capricorn: Mercury/Saturn contacts tend to be serious-minded, skeptical, leading to a temporary emotional downturn as reality sinks in. This aspect will bring real world consequences such as karma coming due, justice being served, truth being revealed. A new contract begins or an old one completes.
Venus in Virgo opposite Chiron in Pisces: Forgiveness and healing are part of this opposition. Love is expressed in different ways: some want to just feel and express forgiveness – Pisces – while others want to do something to make amends – Virgo.
Mon November 2
Moon in Taurus trine Venus in Virgo: This easy-going trine helps us accomplish any earthly task with ease and grace, flow and success.
Tue November 3 — VOTE! IT’S ELECTION DAY IN THE USA
Mercury in Libra turns direct: This event happens around high noon marking a completion and turning point. It can create momentary confusion in communications and travel plans so patience is required. Libra is linked to harmony, justice, beauty, fair mindedness for all. I wonder what this day will bring? Hopefully a lot more of those qualities to our struggling humanity.
Moon/North Lunar Node conjunction in Taurus: The grounded stabilizing influence of Taurus aligns with the futuristic North Lunar Node, bringing us all closer to the fulfillment of goals and dreams. Taurus can be stubborn and frustrated or patient and steady, all emotions you might experience today on this momentous day.
Wed November 4
Moon in Gemini trine Mercury in Libra: This aspect leads to easy conversations, curiosity about another or a subject of interest, busier than usual gathering places like libraries, cafes, airports.
Thu November 5
Moon in Gemini square Venus in Virgo: This aspect is good for research and sorting and sifting through many factoids — Gemini —to find the nugget of truth — Virgo.
Fri November 6
Mercury in Libra square Saturn in Capricorn: This marks the final square of Mercury, now in forward motion, to Saturn harkening back to November 1 with less heaviness. Here’s what I wrote: Mercury/Saturn contacts tend to manifest as being serious-minded, skeptical, leading to a temporary emotional downturn as reality sinks in. This aspect will bring real world consequences such as karma coming due, justice being served, truth being revealed. A new contract begins or an old one completes.
Moon in Gemini opposite Pallas Athene/Jupiter/Pluto conjunction in Sagittarius: This challenging aspect can lead to more polarization amongst parties. It helps you gather information or gain a new perspective on an issue, bringing your vision down to Earth in practical details or execution of a plan. Zones of travel like airports and highways are super busy.
Sat November 7
Sun/Juno in Libra quincunx Mars retrograde in Pisces: Adjustments need to be made in a contract. Fine-tune the dynamics within a business partnership or personal relationship so all are content to keep moving forward or to part ways.

Last Quarter Moon
With the Last Quarter Moon, you release what has been and simultaneously prepare for what will be as new desires perpetually arise with each New SolLunar Cycle.
Sun November 8
Last Quarter Moon: Moon in Cancer square Sun/Juno conjunction in Libra: Our illuminating Sun makes an exact conjunction with Juno — partnerships of all kinds — on this turning point day. This can lead to finales for some, or new beginnings for others. The homebody Moon in Cancer likes to work or play from home so it can be a productive day to accomplish tasks around the house, cook for the upcoming week, share time with family members.
Mon November 9
Venus in Virgo opposite Mars retrograde in Pisces: Venus in Virgo brings discernment, refinement and healing to all aspects of life. This opposition to the fierce, red hot Mars, still retrograde, can bring clarity about the best course of action you will soon want to take once Mars finishes up it’s once-every-two-year retrograde on November 13, completing its shadow period by Winter Solstice. Great endurance has been required of us during these challenging times when much has shifted, been discarded with shocking speed. My sense is we will need to rest deeply this winter restoring our qi, acknowledging our shifts, grateful we survived the challenges. Honor that need for rest today, too, with this aspect.
Sun in Libra trine Neptune in Aquarius: This positive trine brings creative inspiration and awakens your awareness to the magic all around you. Miracles are possible when you step out of your own sense of limitation and more fully acknowledge the invisible support that always walks by your side. Life really can shift in the blink of any eye.
Moon/Vesta conjunction in Leo: Invest in play, invest your time playing with the children, invest in your artistic and playful self. Purchase new tools like a set of paints, a writer’s pen, a paddleboard, an on-line class.
Tue November 10
Moon in Leo trine Jupiter/Pluto/Saturn: Continuing with yesterday’s transits of inspiration, this aspect amplifies your joy, your sense of adventure. Take some playtime today or find ways to make your workplace more enjoyable and beautiful.
Wed November 11
Moon in Virgo opposite Chiron in Pisces: You tend to want to help someone or fix something under this alignment. Find ways to ease the suffering of another being. Or reach out and ask for assistance if it will make your life easier.
Thu November 12
Jupiter/Pluto conjunction in astronomical Sagittarius: This is the finale of this key transit of 2020, not occurring for another 13 years. This may lead to global shifts or power abuses being exposed. You can read more about this in my longer piece called Raw and Real: Pluto in 2020.
Moon/Venus conjunction in Virgo: In the wee hours of the morning today and tomorrow you can catch a glimpse of the faint sliver of Moon next to bright Venus. When these two beings align, one’s needs and desires become linked in powerful, integrative ways. This blending gives us extraordinary powers to manifest the life we want. Pray and give thanks beneath this celestial gift.
Fri November 13
Mars in sidereal Pisces turns direct: This is good news, always. We made it! The jolt of Mars, wearing its brightest garb of red we’ve witnessed in a while, turning direct toward evening can bring important shifts, possibly accidents, a sense of completion. We still have to navigate this complete retrograde cycle that began mid-August and completes mid-December, but now we enter the phase of implementing and integrating the shifts we have launched in recent months.
Moon/Mercury conjunction in Libra: This highly social alignment makes for a busier than usual Friday and helps you finish up many details on projects if need be.
Blessed New Moon tomorrow~
