Last Quarter Moon
‘Tis the season of sun dogs, also called parhelion. These stunning half moons of rainbow light, parentheses around our central Sun, greet us at dawn, demonstrating magic is always afoot on our planet, if we believe. These colorful crystalline crescents are joy-filled reminders of hope as we emerge from the recent heavy Saturn transits that accompanied a dark and often dreary November. Saturn’s transits aren’t bad, but they push us to get real, no more running or hiding from life’s challenges. Time to face things head on.
This week brings to close the previous SolLunar cycle, so it’s a bit like Finals Week for 2015. Our next New Moon will be on December 11 and the coming SolLunar cycle will encompass both our celestial New Year, called Winter Solstice, and also our Gregorian calendar New Year’s celebrations. Place your focus on finishing things which requires a surge of doing, while also making time for the simplicity, quiet, rest of just being. By balancing the two, you might avoid getting sick over the coming holidays too!

Here is a description of the qualities of the Last Quarter Moon phase compliments of my friend and sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza at lunarplanner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. A sense of completion comes forth with a recognition that the past scenario has served its purpose and it is time to leave what is antiquated behind. Essentially a lesser self is what we will be shedding. Step forth from old facades, and free yourself from past ways of participating in life. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”

Please note: I make my posts according to the Lunar cycles, posting on the New, First Quarter, Full and Last Quarter Moons. My hope is to support you to work with and within the natural flow of time, the Thirteen Moons of each year, which can help your life flow with more ease and grace. Also, I base my interpretations and predictions on the true sidereal astronomical alignments. Thu December 3
Last Quarter Moon: The creative Leo Moon is rounding the bend as it heads back to unite with the Sun in Scorpio in a weeks’ time. This day can bring forth a crisis, a new creative calling, a longing for something new. Some might also experience a temporary grieving of what needs to be left behind. It’s a day of turbulent and dynamic emotions.
Moon/Jupiter conjunct in Leo square Mercury in Scorpio: This aspect takes hold later in the day and only increases the turbulence and trauma for some, and also encourages exuberant creative bursts between colleagues. Team up and launch your next big idea.
Fri December 4
Mars in Virgo sextile Sun in Scorpio: This highly energized aspect bodes well for feeling energetically charged and healthier than you have in a while, especially if you’ve been taking reasonably good care of yourself. You can get lots done, moving happily from one task to another.
Mercury in Scorpio squares Jupiter in Leo: This aspect might push you to make financial decisions you’ve been avoiding or were not yet ready to make. The square often manifests as some kind of tension but is also great for getting off the fence of indecisiveness. As Leo rules both recreation (like going on a vacation) and our artistic, playful side, the thing you might need to choose is to have more fun. Book your trip today!
Moon/North Lunar Node conjunction in Virgo: Virgo is a sign of giving true service to others. Today’s alignment can create a longing to find ways you want to make the world a healthier, happier place for all. It’s also important to remember that sometimes helping the world means keeping yourself balanced by setting boundaries, also one of Virgo’s skills.
Sat December 5
Moon/Mars conjunction in Virgo: This aspect is forcefully direct, even confrontational, in terms of emotional expression and also creates boundless energy in regards to helping others, organizing your space, obsessing on nutrition. Tomorrow’s very intense volatile Mars square Pluto continues to heat up our planetary field today. Don’t go unconscious. Pay attention.
Sun December 6
Mars in Virgo square Pluto in Sagittarius: There is a ferociousness in the field whenever Mars and Pluto square off. Both planets are associated with will power. Mars is our personal will and Pluto is called Divine Will. So on a day like today, you have an opportunity to decide will you follow your wiser, more evolved Self and it’s directive or be driven by your more egocentric will that is often motivated by fear, defensiveness, woundedness? And of course, these kinds of dramas will be playing out in relationships and surrounding out collective human experience. Violence can also be part of this volatile combo.
Sun in Scorpio sextile Mars in Virgo: This aspect thankfully tempers the above one. Be willing to go deep to probe your inner motivations and see truthfully what’s really going on.
Moon/Juno conjunction in Libra: This lovely alignment can bring harmonious new partnerships of all kinds into your life. It also spawns a desire to create peace, so it will also help to calm the ferocity of today’s Mars/Pluto square.
Mon December 7
Moon/Venus conjunction in Libra: The harmony of love continues with the triple conjunction of Moon ~ what you need ~ Venus ~ what you desire ~ and Juno ~ partnering up. Great day for meeting up for a date in a beautiful place or restaurant. Libra knows the power of beauty can change the world.
Tue December 8
Sun in Scorpio trine Uranus in Pisces: With this sky gift, something new and unusual might cross your path today, awakening delight. You might find yourself more explorative and willing to take a risk.
Mercury in Sagittarius square Lunar Nodes: Mercury rules logistics and governs all our technologies. Today is a good day to purchase that new computer or other device, or sign up for a class. Sagittarius is all about futuristic vision and expanding knowledge.
Wed December 9
Sun in Scorpio square Chiron in Aquarius: This alignment, which takes place in the wee hours of the morning might lead to an important dream, either that identifies a wound or provides a healing solution to something that’s been troubling you. Reach out to a friend to share your experience.
Thu December 10
Mars in Virgo opposite Uranus in Pisces: The volatility of this aspect can create sudden breakdowns and breakthroughs as that is the nature of our wild and free Uranus. Mars in Virgo likes tidiness and organization while Uranus in Pisces likes the messiness of the creative workshop. So either tidy up the chaos today, or let go of control and just play around so new possibilities can enter your life.
Balsamic Moon conjunct Saturn: This heavier aspect marks the completion of Finals Week. How fitting is that? Tomorrow is the New Moon and this aspect today is great for looking back and honoring, truly honoring, all you have been through in 2015. Arms around you.
