A New Year begins
Today we begin a new SolLunar cycle which will encompass the celestial New Year, called Winter Solstice in our Northern Hemisphere, and the celebration of New Year marked by our Gregorian calendar. This week marks the beginning of 2016 which promises to be a very dynamic, creative year for all, very different in tone and circumstance of 2015. 2015 was a year in which we navigated many completions, releases, and the passing of a great many Elders. May they rest in peace in the completion and successes of their unique lives. Their vision and compassion are more expansive from where they now reside, beyond the many veils of illusion that cloak our world. Now, they are our wise Guides, ready to assist us here on Earth, if we ask.
Prepare for a good spurt of energy this week! The quarterly Sun/Jupiter square and many planets transiting visionary Sagittarius are sure to bring renewed optimism, vitality and joy to our world.
Here is a list of New Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza at LunarPlanner:
“Beginning the Sprouting Phase of the Lunar Cycle, a new theme emerges, a new idea or concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. Often this process is one of discovery, slowly revealing a simple theme over a day or two, or it may be quite clear and specific, even suggesting a major life change. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation or a quite walk—to go within self and listen.”
Note: I write my posts according to the Lunar cycles, posting on the New, First Quarter, Full and Third Quarter Moons. I encourage you to work with and within these natural flow of time and supportive cosmic energy, which ensures your life will flow with more ease and grace. I base my interpretations and predictions on the true sidereal astronomical alignments. Here’s a picture of both Sun and Moon lining up in sidereal Scorpio for our New Moon. I take these pictures from my favorite app, StarWalk2. Also note Saturn and Mercury are nearby:

NEW SOLLUNAR CYCLE: Early this morning, the new SolLunar cycle begins in the depth and darkness of sidereal Scorpio. But things will quickly shift into sunnier, adventurous Sagittarius in short order. Our New Moon aligns with the galactic stars of RasAlhague and Sabik in the 13th constellation of Ophiuchus. Here’s a brief synopsis of the meaning of these stars from Nick’s LunarPlanner:
“This lunar cycle can stimulate unexpected flashes of illumination or bring revelations that can propel us on entirely new creative journeys or courses in our lives. It is up to us to draw upon the inner strength to relinquish a lesser mold of self and have the conviction to act upon any inspiration or opportunities it offers. This cycle impels us to stand empowered in the initiatory forces of life, to allow a transmutation that becomes possible by unconditionally embracing / feeling all emotion (e-motion is the crystallized resistance to the motion of experience). This is to surrender the cellular patterns that hold us at a lesser vibrational resonance.”
In a nutshell, by paying attention to our feelings, witnessing them, experiencing them, we have a new opportunity to move out of fear-based frozen patterns of living and return to the ever-infinite power we have for regeneration and re-creation. That is the gift, essence and teaching of the wise healer, Ophiuchus. We just have to remember who we truly are.
PALLAS ATHENE/PLUTO CONJUNCTION IN SAGITTARIUS: This relatively rare alignment makes for an undaunted focus to learn a new skill or concoct a new strategy/plan going forward. Time to let go of your old ways of organizing your life and be willing to completely reinvent yourself. Such is the gift of Pluto and 2016.
MOON SHIFTS TO SAGITTARIUS: By the end of today as the Moon departs Scorpio, your mood suddenly shifts and you decide to leave your recent insular state and venture forth on a Friday night for adventure and possibility.
Sat Dec 12
MOON/MERCURY CONJUNCT IN SAGITTARIUS: This aspect spawns very direct, even combative conversations, with some folks refusing to get off their soapbox of dogma and righteousness. If someone lashes out at you, use Mercury’s gift of humor to dispel and redirect any attacks. If you are shopping today, you will most likely be drawn to gifts/services of an educational, adventure travel nature, all domains of Sagittarius. When you give someone an experience, it will have lasting repercussions throughout their lives. Consider that option today.
VENUS IN LIBRA SEMI-SEXTILE SATURN IN SCORPIO: This fleeting aspect reminds us that beauty is a worthy thing to create and spend money on, everyday, be that having fresh bouquets of flowers, artfully dressing up, even at home, or preparing a meal that demands you bow and give thanks to the beautiful preparation before ingesting.
Sun Dec 13
MOON/PLUTO/PALLAS ATHENE CONJUNCTION IN SAGITTARIUS: You can use this aspect to get super organized, finding huge reserves of energy to keep going as long as it takes you to finish the tasks at hand. I will be joyfully packing up for my upcoming journey south for a good part of this winter, fulfilling my dream of being in warmer more colorful climes as part of my winter cycle. New adventures await us all in 2016. May you discover your version of this as you artfully redesign your life.
MOON SQUARE MARS/URANUS: Our emotive Moon triggers the still active Mars/Uranus opposition. This might manifest as a sudden need to purge, be that in your body, mind, soul. Or you might suddenly see why the uncomfortable releases of recent days had to occur. Sagittarius always brings a sense of freedom and taking flight into our lives. No more clipped wings. Soar free.
Mon Dec 14
SUN IN SCORPIO SQUARE JUPITER IN LEO: This is a turning point kind of alignment that sets you up for where/what you might be doing in the early months of 2016 when Jupiter makes a stunning rare alignment with our North Lunar Node, promising to launch us all into exciting new possibilities and joyful re-invention. Make note of what happens today, and use the square aspect to make conscious choices and decisions about what it is your truly desire. The Universe has your back, always, but it’s essential to the co-creative process that you send out clear signals of intention, prayer, desire.
MERCURY IN SAGITTARIUS SEXTILE NEPTUNE IN AQUARIUS: What a delight this is. Mercury rules our intellectual focus and when it is transiting futuristic Sagittarius, we naturally engage in more optimistic thinking. And the stimulating sextile to imaginative Neptune in community-minded Aquarius makes for enlightening conversations happening everywhere, on-line, at cafes, at the therapist office. Remember today the always appreciated art of receiving a beautiful hand-written thank-you note with the perfect stamp. Send some out today. We can collectively revive this tradition of art everywhere, everyday.
Tue Dec 15
MOON/CERES IN CAPRICORN: This monthly alignment is great for getting your kids out the door on time, highly organized, but be watchful of your tone so as not to be too bossy or overly rigid. Also a great day to communicate with and assist parents, grandparents, a wise elder.
SUN CONJUNCT LESATH: This is the last day of our illuminating Sun transiting Scorpio. Today it aligns with the stinger of the Scorpion, the fixed star Lesath. This can lead to very pointed, stinging, even vengeful conversations. You can use this depth-star alignment to get to the bottom, rock bottom, of something.
Wed Dec 16
SUN ENTERS SAGITTARIUS: I love that in the depth of winter our Sun enters the Light of Sagittarius, realm of the Angels, and brings new illumination and new vision to everyone. Enjoy this celestial gift for the coming 30 days.
MOON/NEPTUNE CONJUNCTION IN AQUARIUS: This highly creative communicative aspect takes hold of us in the evening hours leading to inspired conversations with friends and a increased flurry of social media interactions.
Thu Dec 17
VENUS IN LIBRA SQUARE CERES IN CAPRICORN: This aspect leads to making important decisions in regards to family matters and relationship responsibilities. This can also lead to negotiations in regards to all your key partnerships.
MOON IN AQUARIUS SQUARE SATURN CONJUNCT CHIRON: This alignment can create an over-sensitivity to criticism, a feeling of being judged by (or judging) a friend or community member. Hopefully you can be more constructive in offering your insights to a hurting friend versus tearing into someone due to your own unconscious wounds.
