Ready to feel more focused, with renewed drive and energy, excited to serve and feel in better health? All this is possible with this New SolLunar Cycle taking place in sidereal Virgo in a supportive trine to Saturn in Capricorn. This Cycle supports success in life-organization and accomplishment of current goals or projects. Virgo brings order and beauty to the world. Virgo lives to work, to serve, and rules the healing arts. Capricorn strives to do one’s best and to bring into form institutional reforms, a current theme of 2020 and the years to come. Even though this Cycle can be a very productive time, it is however immersed in the current Mars retrograde cycle which can slow things down, halt them altogether for a time, so you can get a clearer picture of where you want to go next. During these four weeks, you may re-evaluate where you are putting your time and energy, making shifts that are truer to your inner dreams and desires. Either way, prepare to feel more focused, determined to follow-through with plans, new habits, emerging ways you wish to serve and support others, or reach out for the help you need at this time.
Other aspects to pay attention to are Mars in retrograde making its second round of tense squares to Saturn on September 29 and Pluto on October 9 on the Last Quarter Moon. Mars re-enters sidereal Pisces on September 30 and Pluto turns direct on October 4 so be sure to read about those extraordinary events in my post below. Lo and behold, Mercury turns retrograde for the final time this year on October 13 —November 3. That’s right, it turns direct on Election Day!
Thank you, dear friend, Natalie Connell, for the use of your inspiring, mysterious landscapes for this post. Please see more of Natalie’s captivating art at Natalie Connell Art.
Readings and Sidereal Mentoring
My posts are based on the sidereal astronomical alignments. As you work with and within the natural flow of time and the supportive cosmic energies that each unique SolLunar Cycle brings, life flows with more ease, grace and understanding.
I highly encourage serious astrology students to subscribe to Nick Anthony Fiorenza’s monthly Lunar Planner. Nick is the expert and his website is a treasure trove of historical and current information and insights.
Thanks for considering a sidereal mini-reading with me for $44 or a longer reading for $88, the numbers of living your Mastery on Earth. In these short readings, I discuss key personal transits that are happening for you in 2020 and beyond. I am also excited to mentor students individually or in families/groups/workshops who want to learn more about how to use sidereal astrology in their own chart or with their clients. Send me an email if you are interested in those options, or a full Natal Map, Update or Relationship Map. Thank you!

New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Virgo
Here is a brief synopsis of the New Moon characteristics from my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his LunarPlanner:
“Beginning the Sprouting Phase of the Lunar Cycle, a new theme emerges, a new idea or concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation to go within self and listen.”
Thu September 17
New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Virgo: Sun/Moon in Virgo trine Saturn in Capricorn: Ready to feel more focused, with renewed drive and energy, excited to serve and feel in better health? All this is possible in this New SolLunar Cycle taking place in sidereal Virgo in a supportive trine to Saturn in Capricorn. Fri September 18
Moon/Mercury conjunction in Virgo: This aspect highlights focused communications the day-long. With an ease of determination, you can accomplish much with current creative or service projects, writing goals and all aspects of health–especially building a strong immune system as we head into winter via nutrition and diet and steering clear of fear-based living.
Sat September 19
Sun in Virgo quincunx Mars retrograde in Aries: An quincunx implies we might need to adjust our plans to accommodate conflicting desires. Virgo likes order and helping others but Aries wants to go on a solo adventure, spontaneously. This aspect tempers wild courage with a tad of caution on your adventures or in your relationships.
Moon/Juno in Libra opposite Mars retrograde in Aries: When Moon–what we need to do–makes a monthly alignment with Juno–seeking partnerships and alliances–synchronistic relationship connections happen more easily. Mars’s energy brings excitement and courage to those meet-ups but can also bring out underlying conflicts that need to be addressed.
Sun September 20
Mercury in Virgo square Pluto in Sagittarius: Rescue teams or paramedics might be called to action under this aspect. Communications with other or communication systems can be more combustible, literally.
Moon in Libra square Venus/Vesta in sidereal Cancer: Libra’s desire for justice and harmony brings forth heartfelt conversations about important topics. Old wounds or secrets from the past (Cancer) can rise to the surface to be understood in a new light.
Mon September 21
Moon in Scorpio sextile Sun in Virgo: You might wake up in a no-nonsense, serious mood with the monthly Scorpio Moon. But the helpful sextile to Sun in Virgo helps you get up, get going and channel your emotions in productive ways.
Tue September 22 ~ Autumnal Equinox ~ 7:30 am MDT
Ah, sigh, this bittersweet day (for me) always comes too quickly as we transition from summer’s blossoming completions to autumn’s color-ic release. Even though I am aware of an impending feeling of being pushed indoors by winter’s too soon arrival, fall provides a time of deep spiritual practice to live in the present moment, fully immersed in this wondrous time of harvest, full of majesty, wisdom, and the beauty of aging well. Thus, I remember that autumn is one of my most favorite times of the year, as it always was when I was child. Enjoy the bounty!
Juno in Libra trine Ceres in Aquarius: Love is expressed generously in many forms in all kinds of relationships. A good friend can become a lover, or visa versa.
Moon in Scorpio trine Venus/Vesta in Cancer: You provide a depth of wisdom to a family member who opens up more easily. Focus on the financial aspects of your life if need be.

First Quarter Moon
Here’s a brief synopsis of the First Quarter Moon characteristics from my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his Lunar Planner:
“The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. This time is stressful or traumatic only if action is ignored. Simply, this phase is a time to work.”
Wed September 23
First Quarter Moon: Moon/South Lunar Node in Sagittarius square Sun in Virgo: Move forward with confidence as the action-oriented First Quarter Moon in fiery, forward-thinking Sagittarius pushes us to take courageous actions based on our inner truth. The Moon’s link to the South Node—releasing the past—emphasizes and amplifies this exciting momentum.
Mercury/Juno in Libra square Saturn in Capricorn and Mars in Aries: Our mental state can become serious when Mercury and Saturn square off. Linked to the partnership asteroid of Juno, stern discussions or seeking realistic solutions to recent challenges occur in key partnerships, both personal and professional. With Mars in play, some might feel defensive or aggressive towards others.
Thu September 24
Moon/Pallas Athene/Jupiter conjunction in Sagittarius: It’s a good day of planning or strategizing. Experience expansive levels of creativity under this fireball of truth-telling and enthusiasm. This over-the-top energy might frazzle your nervous system or lead to accidents.
Fri September 25
Moon/Saturn conjunction in Capricorn square Mars retrograde in Aries: Be aware and be wary under this hard aspect. Saturn rules bones and teeth and today’s square can manifest as events linked to those body parts, like an old filling falling out or a literal broken bone. Try to be a calming force today with this challenging aspect that can make people ornery or aggressive.
Sat September 26
Moon in Capricorn trine Sun in Virgo: This positive trine in earth signs lends itself to projects getting done, nature adventures going smoothly, cooperation and camaraderie amongst those working together.
Sun September 27
Moon in Capricorn opposite Venus in Cancer: Some want to stick closer to home this Sunday, focused on home projects or entertaining your tribe. Cancer likes to cuddle and Capricorn likes to work, so the opposition might trigger conflicting needs. Spend special time with those you consider your elders.
Mon September 28
Venus in Leo trine Mars in Aries: As Venus transitions to creative, play-loving Leo, she makes a optimistic trine to Mars in passionate, leap-without-thinking Aries. This aspect lights a flame of courage, to take a risk, of feeling inspired with new possibilities.
Moon/Ceres in Aquarius trine Mercury/Juno in Libra: People seek to help each other in extraordinary ways with this wonderful aspect. It’s a good day to hold meetings, collaborate with others, and communicate with openness your desires to the communities you are part of.
Tue September 29
Sun in Virgo opposite Chiron in Pisces: The notion of a ‘healing crisis’ can be part of this annual opposition. It helps us rebalance the giving and receiving dynamic in our lives. For some more giving is required, for others, learning to receive is the challenge. Time can feel strange under Chiron aspects, like one is walking between the worlds. Ground your body through nourishing food, calming exercise, time in holy nature.
Mars retrograde in Aries square Saturn in Capricorn: This is not an easy aspect, friends. This is the second time (in a three-part transit) Mars makes a volatile square to Saturn. Inflammation symptoms and anxiety can worsen causing pain in the body and psyche, and aggravations intensify leading to conflict. It can also spark intense determination to power through physical challenges like winning that race, climbing that peak, overcoming hardships.
Moon/Neptune conjunction in Aquarius: This softer aspect calls forth Neptunian compassion, big dreams, imagination. It encourages us to find like-hearted colleagues in co-manifestation of those dreams.
Mercury/Juno conjunction is sidereal Libra: Like the above aspect, this harmonious pairing encourages superb communication with beloveds, colleagues, clients.
Wed September 30
Mars retrograde re-enters astronomical Pisces: If you think our political drama is out of control, it’s about to get more absurd and swamp-like. This zone of late astronomical Pisces is literally associated with the swamp of human drama where one is either dragged down, drowned and dies like an unconscious zombie, or, rises up, heavenward, like a fish leaping out of those cesspool waters, to discover fresh air, clear thinking and courageous actions. Do not turn your head in denial due to fear or laziness–shadow attributes of Pisces–but become more discerning in what you digest on every level. As I often write, THINK FOR YOURSELF. Act based on your better angels. Under this Mars retrograde in astronomical Pisces, everyone is given an opportunity at this time in history to make their own choice and they will have to live with the consequences of those choices. Mars will leave the swamp and return to Aries on December 26 2020.

Full Moon in sidereal Pisces/Virgo
Here is a brief synopsis of the Full Moon characteristics from my friend and sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his Lunar Planner:
“The Full Moon marks the point of coition in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement, a time of celebration. The day just after the Full Moon is a time for the realization of the theme to emerge, culminating in the enthusiasm of the Full Moon. Relax and allow this realization to occur.”
Thu October 1
Full Moon in astronomical Pisces/Virgo: Sun in Virgo opposite Moon/Chiron in Pisces quincunx Uranus in Aries: I repeat what I wrote on September 29 about the Sun/Chiron opposition as now the Moon joins in and things become more dynamic and emotional. The notion of a ‘healing crisis’ is associated with Chiron. It helps us rebalance the giving and receiving dynamic in our lives. For some more giving is required, for others, learning to receive is the challenge. Time can feel strange under Chiron aspects, like one is walking between the worlds. Ground your body through nourishing food, calming exercise, time with the holy Earth. The pressure of the quincunx to erratic Uranus in Aries can manifest as accidents or breakthroughs that catalyze that healing crisis or portal of awakening.
Fri October 2
Moon/Mars conjunction in Pisces: You feel a pressure (Mars) to act on your feelings (Moon) under this monthly flare up. With Pisces, one can move further into denial and escapism, making addictive behaviors worsen, or fly skyward to greater spiritual understanding of what the underlying truth is.
Sat October 3
Mercury/Juno in Libra opposite Moon in Aries: This is a busy and communicative aspect activating growth, optimism, honesty in key relationships (Juno). Tensions may arise about what is best for the relationship (Libra) or what is best for the individuals that compose the relationship (Aries). Keep processing, keep talking.
Sun October 4
Pluto in sidereal Sagittarius turns direct: This marks another milestone in the events of 2020 as evolutionary Pluto resumes forward momentum from its re-evaluating retrograde of April 25. As Pluto is THE governing force in the astrology of 2020, it is associated with the biological virus, drastic climate conditions and authoritarian power-grabs we are experiencing. This turning direct can either fan the flames, making things temporarily worse, or manifest as a greater turning toward health, as well as empowerment for all the people, if we are willing to take our power back. Either way, this is good news.
Moon/Uranus conjunction in Aries: This aspect can lead to a sudden change of plans or make us desire freedom, no restrictions or amplify anxiety. Take yourself on an adventure to experience the unknown, the surprise.
Mon October 5
Moon in Taurus trine Saturn in Capricorn: This leads to a work-driven, productive Monday including ease and grace in your workouts and financial benefits or good news.
Tue October 6
Sun in Virgo square Pallas Athene in Sagittarius: You may want to rethink your plans, designs or strategies concerning projects you are in the midst of. Virgo loves to clean and cleanse so consider letting go of things or ideas that won’t help you in the future you are calling forth (Sagittarius).
Wed October 7
Mercury in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries: The mind—Mercury–can feel more erratic and unstable—Uranus. But this aspect also heightens intuition, especially concerning people, clients, your partnerships.
Moon/North Lunar Node conjunction in Taurus: The North Node helps us focus on the future while being grounded in the present moment. As Taurus activities include gardening, body work, finances, healing self-worth issues, take a stand like the Bull and be determined to succeed.
Thu October 8
Moon in Gemini trine Juno/Mercury in Libra: This aspect is highly social, gregarious, curious about others and what they are up to so reach out for connection to others if you are so moved.
“Red Hills” painting by Natalie Connell
Last Quarter Moon
Here is a brief synopsis of the Last Quarter Moon characteristics from my friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his Lunar Planner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”
Fri October 9
Last Quarter Moon: Moon in Gemini square Sun in Virgo: Both Gemini and Virgo are masters at multi-tasking so check off everything on your current to-do list today. Reflect back over the previous three weeks and imagine forward, while staying present to the magic of the unfolding moment.
Mars retrograde in Pisces square Pluto in Sagittarius: This is pass number two in a three-part transit for this super-hot, challenging square between two planets linked to will and willpower. It will show up as tensions or stand-offs in our communities and larger world. In your personal world, it pits the needs of your personal egoic will (sometimes not working for your greater good) against the will of what some dub as your Higher Self, the realm of your better angels. Today marks a choice point, to be sure.
Sat October 10
Venus in Leo trine Uranus in Aries: Uranus loves to risk it all, be original and authentic especially as it transits astronomical Aries. This fun-seeking, playful, artistic trine motivates you to new discoveries in both your romantic or creative alliances.
Moon in Cancer opposite Saturn in Capricorn: Needing to deal with family responsibilities, possibly helping them through a tough time, cleaning and organizing your spaces are part of this dynamic.
Sun October 11
Sun in Virgo square Jupiter in Sagittarius: One can experience a crisis in confidence or pressure to grow under this square as it asks us to examine our motivations and actions. No need to panic, just take stock of where you are and make a course correction if need be.
Moon in Cancer square Juno/Mercury in Libra: Negotiations or new pairings in partnerships has been present in the astrological field for a while and will be highlighted during the upcoming Mercury retrograde of October 13 — November 3. With today’s trigger by the moody, private Moon in Cancer, you may need to pull inward to figure out what’s going on. Take some self-space to listen to your wise inner voice. Important conversations with family members are happening, too, possibly about recent losses or challenges.
Mon October 12
Moon/Vesta conjunction in Leo: Vesta brings a focusing quality and today’s pairing with Leo suggests play more, commit to your art works, be fully present with the children.
Mercury in Libra sextile Venus in Leo: Graciousness and kindness toward others is part of loving aspect.
Tue October 13
Mercury in sidereal Libra turns retrograde: Yet again, you say? From now until November 3, Mercury makes its third and final retrograde of this tempestuous year. And not surprising in this shocking year, Mercury will turn direct on Election Day in the USA on November 3, sure to throw some strange shade. During the next three weeks as Mercury retrograde transits back over Juno–all your key relationships–this Cycle is all about upgrading or releasing those relationships as well as justice, as in the Scales of Justice~ true justice.
Moon/Venus conjunction in astronomical Leo: Heartfelt expressions are part of this lovely pairing, visible just after sunrise. Leo encourages the desire to reconnect with as our still-child of wonder and play more, make art just because we can. It is our divine birthright, to create and to create the world we want to inhabit and want our children to inherit.
Wed October 14
Moon in Leo trine Jupiter/Pluto/Saturn: Make time for play and recreation today before the work oriented Virgo Moon closes out this cycle. The trine to planets in exploratory Sagittarius brings optimism and joy to activities.
Thu October 15
Sun in Virgo trine Pluto in Sagittarius: This provides a steady burn of energy all day long.
Moon in Virgo opposite Chiron in Pisces: As with our Full Moon, Chiron places a role in completing this SolLunar Cycle, possible bringing of feelings of grief, vulnerability, sensitivity to the suffering in our world. The healing balm of the natural world, which Virgo reveres, will ALWAYS help. Go forth and absorb the invisible yet very tangible support and help of many visible beings—a flying Eagle, and gentle Swan–and your invisible helpers—your ancestors, angels and guides.
Blessings for New Moon tomorrow~
