Full Moon in sidereal Taurus/ Scorpio
“Oak Creek Splashes” photograph by Pangea Perna
I’ve been in a dark mood, fitting for this Full Moon tied to sidereal Scorpio. A sharp contrast to my usual optimistic nature. What’s the point of it all? The purpose, my purpose? And who the heck should care about what’s happening in the heavens when our Earth burns, humanity bleeds, despots reign, democracies and dissidents are literally being dismembered? Makes me wonder why I even bother writing these trivial Star Signposts tidbits. Has the sacred, wise, ancient science of astrology been demoted to junk food for a stressed humanity offering no real help, only momentary relief? Indeed, I am questioning everything. I’m okay leaning into this darkness, my darkness, my questions, as that is the purpose of at this time of year. The gift of Scorpio. Go deep. Face your fears. Release all facades. Get real and be real.
I return again to the solace of a poem I wrote decades ago, from my collection of poems, Out of the Flames, appropriate for this time of year as Orion oversees our the night sky.
Obsidian 1
It is the universal statement of a star,
the message Orion
has carried
in winter
through the ages:
It is the dark
which illuminates.

Okay, got that out of my way. For now, I will keep sharing my observations of the links between heaven and Earth, in hopes they are helpful to a few people. We are greeted by another extraordinary Full Moon in astronomical Taurus/Scorpio. Earth and Water. Taurus and Scorpio. Get real with the ferocity of your truer feelings as you connect more deeply with your expansive Being, Scorpio instructs. Live that truth in your daily affairs, grounded and stable, committed and vocal, Taurus coaches. This Full Moon in Taurus/Scorpio is sensual and physical, complex yet seeking elegant simplicity. Get ready to experience and express your full range of emotion and move your body with pleasure and delight, ferocity and intensity. If you are experiencing harder than usual financial slowdowns and challenges, that is also part of the reconfiguration this Full Moon brings. Work toward trusting the process as fears arise for clearing.
We are still being pressure-cooked by the tight Mars/Jupiter square of November 19, and now the Sun makes its annual expansive conjunction with Jupiter in sidereal Scorpio on November 25. Tensions aren’t easing yet but we are finding new points of release and expression. As Mercury turns direct on the last day of this SolLunar Cycle on December 6, the next two-week period continues to be extra-intense, profoundly relevant, delving and revealing about what’s really going on behind the curtains and veils.
Thank you, Pangea, my beloved Sedona friend, for sharing your insightful photographs of the beautiful Earth. Check out Pangea’s various creative talents at Spirt Pharmacy.

SPECIAL NOTE: I am honored to have contributed to the Sacred Nights of Winter Journal by Kim Marie. This insightful journal and practical process that Kim Marie has created is a helpful tool full of wisdom for those who wish to more consciously work with the potent creation portal we are offered as one year ends and a new one begins. Here is a brief description and link, and please read full description at the end of this post.
From Kim Marie: “During this darkest time of the year, when the outer world appears to sleep, our inner life awakens. Working with the Sacred Nights of Winter, also known as the Holy Nights, Nights of the Mothers, or “Time Between the Years,” is a potent way to connect more deeply with your awakening True Self.
The theme this year is Turning Into Your Self, and will offer a journey of understanding what hinders us from being our True Self, and what supports us in embodying our True Self.
The 5th edition of my Sacred Nights of Winter journal is now available for pre-order. The journal is designed to support you in not only cultivating your inner life, but also in creating a personalized map to guide you through the coming year’s opportunities and challenges.”

Full Moon in sidereal Taurus/Scorpio
“Ocotillo Glow” photograph by Pangea Perna
Here is a brief synopsis of the Full Moon characteristics that hold true for every Full Moon from my from my friend and sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner.
“The Full Moon marks the point of coition in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement, a time of celebration. The day just after the Full Moon is a time for the realization of the theme to emerge, of what the activities of the first half of the lunar cycle, culminating into the enthusiasm of the Full Moon, are really about. Relax and allow this realization to occur. There is no need to force it as it surfaces on its own.”
Thu November 22
Full Moon in sidereal Taurus/Scorpio: Another extraordinary Full Moon arrives in astronomical Taurus/Scorpio and continues to influence us strongly for the next week. Earth and Water. Taurus and Scorpio. Get real with your deeper feelings so you are more in touch with your expansive Being, Scorpio instructs. If you are experiencing harder than usual financial slowdowns and challenges, that is also part of the reconfiguration this Full Moon is bringing. Work toward trusting the process as fears arise for clearing.
Moon/Juno conjunction in Aries: This event actually precedes the Full Moon, creating a cooperative and collaborative atmosphere for Thanksgiving gatherings. Moon/Juno likes to work in partnership although Aries also likes spontaneity and independence. Some guests may cancel last minute or show up without advance notice. Beware of accidents, or suddenly shifting directions with dishes you are cooking up.
Fri November 23
Moon in Taurus square Mars in Aquarius: This agitating square happens at sunrise possibly leading to early morning tension in the body or emotions, or in your relations.
Moon in Taurus opposite Mercury retrograde in Scorpio: This leads to focused conversations, heightened intuition about others and secrets being shared.
Venus in Libra square Vesta in Capricorn: With this aspect, steer clear of self doubts or judgments about others and focus instead on beautifying your world and your relations by putting your love into action/s.
Sat November 24
Mercury retrograde in Scorpio sextile Pallas Athene in Virgo: Those who need to plan or strategize something will benefit greatly from this supportive aspect. Organize your communication systems, including clearing out the inbox, review documents, discover mistakes, edit, reexamine evidence.
Mars in Aquarius trine Ceres in Libra: Friends helping friends, neighbors helping neighbors, new alliances forming are all dimensions of this collaborative, gracious portal of caring. Classes you are taking or teaching are extra helpful and supportive today.
Sun November 25
Sun/Jupiter conjunction in sidereal Scorpio: It’s the annual Sun/Jupiter conjunction, marking a day always full to the brim with events, high emotions, new opportunities. Jupiter is the philosopher, the teacher, the impassioned coach, the optimistic guide. This can be a magnanimous day with lucky things afoot or it might be a day of overblown exaggeration, hyperbole and self aggrandizement bloviating from public figures who think way too highly of themselves.
Moon in Gemini opposite Saturn in Sagittarius: Talkative, curious, often humorous, the Moon in Gemini faces off with serious-minded Saturn which leads to teasing, important discussions, or talking through an impending decision.
Mon November 26
Mercury retrograde in Scorpio square Mars in Aquarius: This early, early morning aspect could have kept you up last night tossing and turning and going over things you wanted to say to someone or need to say soon. It’s also a day for encountering an inner clarity about your next action steps you will take in December once Mercury turns direct on December 6 and Venus completes her shadow period on December 16, just before the birth point of the New Year on Winter Solstice.
Moon/North Lunar Node conjunction in Cancer: Once again, the emotion-opening Moon aligns with the futuristic North Node bringing intuitive certainty about what’s next. Book a family trip, complete preparations for an upcoming visitor, investigate or a new home situation or re-negotiate the rules within your family scene.
Tues November 27
Sun/Mercury retrograde/Jupiter conjunction in Scorpio trine Moon in Cancer: Travel glitches and delays are possible which might mean spending more time with your family and friends. This aspect brings mutual support to you and your relationships in the ways needed at this time.
Vesta/South Lunar Node conjunction in Capricorn: Vesta brings the power to focus intently on what we want and the South Lunar Node mirrors our history, our soul’s memory. Strong energies from the past may re-emerge allowing you to view your life path and relationships with new eyes and a more open heart.
Wed November 28
Venus in Libra square Lunar Nodes: A turning point based on all you contemplated during the recent Venus retrograde. This can involve love, finances, values, ethics, and creative directions.
Moon in Cancer square Juno in Libra: This square can lead to tense moments or pressures partners to make decisions.
Last Quarter Moon
“Nature’s Window” photograph by Pangea Perna
Here is a description of the qualities of the Last Quarter Moon phase compliments of my friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”
Thu November 29
Last Quarter Moon: Moon in Leo square Sun in Scorpio: Do tasks and be with others with light-hearted depth and playful intensity, merging the joy of Leo with the seriousness of Scorpio.
Ceres in Libra sextile Saturn in Sagittarius: This supportive longer-range aspect can show up as key historical turning points in regards to women, healthcare, food issues, animals, the health of our earthly environment.
Vesta in Capricorn square Uranus in Aries: Institutional reforms and initiatives are set in motion. Your focus may suddenly shift as your intuition guides you to do so.
Fri November 30
Venus in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries: Based on your experiences in October-mid-November when Venus became our Morning Star during the retrograde, this aspect can bring delightful surprises or help you more fully express your heart’s truth to another or in your creative work. Ethical and legal scandals of the past are revealed as justice takes the lead.
Sat December 1
Moon/Pallas Athene conjunction in Virgo: This tidying-up and organizational monthly alignment helps you do just that: tidy up and organize your space, your body, your health, the ways you serve others.
Sun December 2
Sun in Scorpio square Mars in Aquarius: You might find yourself doing battle with someone, even a friend, or feel under attack yourself. This point of this aspect is to examine where you stand and hold firm in confidence but not defensiveness.
Moon in Virgo square Pluto in Sagittarius: Like the above aspect, solutions-oriented Moon in Virgo is pressured to speak the truth by powerful Pluto if one feels one is not being heard or is under actual attack.
Mon December 3
Moon/Venus conjunction in Libra: This first-light dawn jewel is a portal of feminine mystery and worth getting out of bed to view. It helps us embody the union of what we need and what we want becoming the same thing, no more confusion or separation.
Tue December 4
Moon/Ceres conjunction in Libra trine Mars/Neptune in Aquarius: This is a glorious aspect for supportive friendship energy and community-aligned actions helping those who are in need.
Grand Trine in Water: Mercury retrograde in Scorpio trine Chiron in Pisces trine North Lunar Node: As Mercury is about to turn direct on December 6 from it’s retrograde of November 16, this flowing triangle in water signs brings a sense of being held and cared for emotionally. Feel it’s cascading healing heavenly waters flowing from our sky home.
Wed December 5
Sun in Scorpio square Neptune in Aquarius: A complex dynamic is at play when the Sun and Neptune square off two times each year. Some might feel deceived or face disillusionment, some are pressured to reimagine life in new ways, some recognize a turning point in knowing which actions will make their future dreams come true.
Moon/Mercury retrograde conjunction in Scorpio: We enter the last moments of the current Mercury retrograde and this alignment can create detours, delays but also lead to stunning insights as it aligns with the intuitive Scorpio Moon.
Thu December 6
Mercury in sidereal Scorpio turns direct: This SolLunar Cycle goes out with dramatic flare, revelations and completions as mental, communicative Mercury once again moves forward before the end of this year. You might feel a sense of relief or urgency as you move forward with your life’s plans, goals, dreams that you have re-imagined during the last quarter of this year. How timely this comes before tomorrow’s New Moon and Mars/Neptune conjunction in sidereal Aquarius, a very big day tomorrow!
Blessings to all and Happy New Moon tomorrow~
