New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Libra

And so it begins, the turnaround. The results of the historic American Election 2018 have set the stage for what our collective work will be for the next two years as we head toward the sure-to-be-historic transformational events of Election 2020. At that time, Jupiter and Saturn will make a once every 20-year conjunction (which always brings new creative evolutionary social shifts and movements), bringing to closure events that began in May 2000, the last time they united. In 2020, Jupiter/Saturn will be joined by death/rebirth/power-driven Pluto, which will hugely amplify the intensity of this next alignment. This union promises to open the door for ongoing major historical shifts and futuristic turning points the likes we haven’t seen since the early 1940’s, the last time a Jupiter/Saturn cycle aligned with one of the outer planets (Uranus/Neptune/Pluto linked to shifts in the collective consciousness). At that time, Jupiter and Saturn teamed up with Uranus, ruler of revolutions and evolutionary leaps in consciousness which coincided with WWII and the eventual creation of international alliances meant to preserve a greater global peace. I will be writing more about this in future posts in the EarthSky Oracle section of my website. To help you get educated in understanding these key planetary cycles, be sure to read this important article on The Great Transformation ~ 2020-2030 (any many others on his website) from my friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza .
Now, on to this rebalancing New SolLunar Cycle.
A New SolLunar Cycle fortuitously greets us the day after the historic Election of 2018 as both Sun and Moon align in sidereal Libra, a sign of justice and rebalancing and linked to stars that rule our karma (past behaviors) and dharma (future choices). Read more below.
Mark November 16 in your calendars! Venus turns direct at sunrise and Mercury turns retrograde at sunset. It’s miraculous to have these turning points on the same day. Here are a few tidbits:
Loving and lovely Venus returns to direct motion at sunrise on November 16, now in her Morning Star phase, visible in the early dawn hours. Reflect on what you contemplated since October 5 when the retrograde period began. It might have been a very slow financial period for you. You may have had to make internal decisions about key relationships, and now you might be ready to speak your truth. Libra rules our justice system, so there will be forward momentum in regards to current investigations, scandals, leadership shifts.
Mercury in sidereal Scorpio turns retrograde on November 16 exactly at sundown, which might lead to an agitated night of excessive ruminating, even paranoid thoughts. Mercury will turn direct again on December 6 so use these next three weeks for more internal reflective time, deepening your meditation practice (Mercury rules the minds), logistically releasing the past (like clearing your email) and dealing with year end financial details. This retrograde cycle is intimately linked to Jupiter in Scorpio, so much will be uncovered, revealed in the coming weeks concerning the ongoing investigations of secret dealings, abuses of power, recounts in disputed election results, and more.

New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Libra
“Still Life” photograph by Pangea Perna
Here is a list of New Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from LunarPlanner:
“Beginning the Sprouting Phase of the Lunar Cycle, a new theme emerges, a new idea or concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. Often this process is one of discovery, slowly revealing a simple theme over a day or two, or it may be quite clear and specific, even suggesting a major life change. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation or a quite walk—to go within self and listen.”
Wed November 7
New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Libra: Sun and Moon align with two key stars linked to the chelae, or claws, of the Scorpion, mythologically symbolic of being delivered into to a new life. Zubenelgenubi rules karma, the results of our past actions and learned knowledge, and Zubeneschamali, represents the place our future dreams, associated with our dharma. Both stars help us understand our unique soul missions, what we have come to learn throughout our many incarnations. Therefore, this SolLunar Cycle can be a reckoning time for you, contemplating and seeing clearly who you have known yourself to be and then exploring new notions of Self as you re-enter the great Mystery of becoming. Who do you want to be next? Consider that question with joy, anticipation, trust. In addition, sidereal Libra rules the justice system whose mission is to ensure equality and fairness for all and to bring things back into balance that have shifted of balance and alignment because we haven’t been paying attention to the signs and signals. It will be a good four week period to seek mediation or counseling if the need arises.
Pluto/Vesta conjunction in Sagittarius: This rare, extremely probing alignment creates exceptional drive, determination, and laser-focus within our inner psyche and outer actions and it will last for the next few weeks. It can be challenging in its obsessiveness so channel that aspect of its energy wisely.
Jupiter in Scorpio trine North Lunar Node in Cancer: Jupiter expands options and confidence, and this positive aspect to the futuristic North Lunar Node implies new found faith and trust that emerging opportunities are coming your way.
Mars enters sidereal Aquarius: Aquarius is futuristic, humanitarian, and is both friendly to all or, conversely, anti-social, wanting to stand apart from everyone else. Activist Mars now embarks on a once every-two year transit through this sign so those aspects of character are up for expression in ourselves and our relations.
Thu November 8
Moon/Jupiter conjunction in Scorpio: This aspect adds excitement to the sky events that started with yesterday’s New Moon. It can amplify your emotions in both positive or challenging ways. Either way, you might get obsessed and focused about something or someone.
Fri November 9
Moon/Mercury conjunction in Scorpio: The best researchers, trial lawyers, surgeons, might all have this aspect in their natal astrology charts, indicating an extremely focused, investigative, razor-sharp mind. So feel that superpower yourself today! Get many things done or stay focused on accomplishing one really important thing. Push past procrastination on a writing/creative project.
Venus retrograde in Libra trine Mars in Aquarius: This positive aspect creates harmony between people. It’s a call to civility, especially between women and men and supports us taking positive actions (Mars) based on our desires and values (Venus).
Sat November 10
Moon in Sagittarius sextile Mars in Aquarius trine Uranus in Aries: Everything about this aspect is optimistic, stimulating, confident in what’s emerging, like sunlight reappearing after a period of shadow or clouds. Feel its rays of shine, sparkle and light as you leap forward with joy and renewed support.
Sun November 11
Moon/Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius: Being reserved in your response or having emotional discipline are part of this monthly alignment.
Ceres in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries: This rare polarity puts a desire to nurture relationships (Ceres) in opposition to taking an independent, going-it-alone approach (Uranus). This aspect can greatly expand possibilities in your relationships and supports autonomy amidst unity in key alliances.
Sun in Libra sextile Pluto in Sagittarius: This sunny aspect supports sharing power equally in our relationships and is playfully passionate.
Mon November 12
Moon/Pluto/Vesta conjunction in Sagittarius: Emergency workers and health care professionals might be busy today as the ferocity of this conjunction can drive people to excess which can lead to accidents or getting into troubling or challenging situations. You might feel highly directed, motivated and on target at work or play.
Tue November 13
Moon/South Lunar Node conjunction in Capricorn: It’s a day to part ways, complete projects, or launch into the next step of something. You might saying goodbye to an elder in a ceremonial way.
Wed November 14
Sun in Libra sextile Vesta in Sagittarius: This flexible aspect brings supportive energy, a helping hand, via relationships or through the justice system. It’s excellent for accomplishing tasks, practicing the power of focused intention and tapping into your future Self.
Moon in Capricorn sextile Mercury in Scorpio: This brings forth thoughtful communications and respectful solutions in institutions, businesses and parental relationships.
First Quarter Moon

Here’s a list of the First Quarter Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza ~ www.lunarplanner.com
“The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Now is the time to drop all hesitation and take the steps to move forth on what you were inspired about…it is time to now participate in trust and knowing. Trust in the process. Demonstrate this trust in physical action and you will be supported. This time is stressful or traumatic only if action is ignored. Simply, this phase is a time to work.
Thu November 15
First Quarter Moon: Moon in sidereal Capricorn square Sun in Libra: Always a day to take important action steps and move forward, this paring might involve your parental and professional responsibilities (Capricorn) and the important relationships that fill your life (Libra). You might recognize a new direction Life is leading you.
Moon/Mars conjunction in sidereal Aquarius: This monthly alignment is always direct and sparks community activism and energetic connections between friends or those with differing points of view. It can be both combative and collaborative.
Fri November 16 ~ Saturday November 17
Venus in sidereal Libra turns direct: Loving and lovely Venus returns to direct motion, now in her Morning Star phase, visible in the early dawn hours. Reflect on what you contemplated since October 5 when the retrograde period began. It might have been a very slow financial period for you and now things might begin to turn around. You may have had to make internal decisions about key relationships, and now you might be ready to speak your truth. Libra rules our justice system, so there will be forward momentum in regards to current investigations, scandals, leadership. The ‘shadow’ period of this entire retrograde cycle completes on December 16, so stay patient and focused, and be kind and gentle with yourself and others.
Mercury in sidereal Scorpio turns retrograde: As this great turning happens exactly at sundown, it might lead to an agitated night of excessive ruminating, even paranoid thoughts. Mercury will turn direct again on December 6 so use these next three weeks for more internal reflective time, deepening your meditation practice (Mercury rules the minds), logistically releasing the past (like clearing your email) and dealing with year-end financial details. This retrograde cycle is intimately linked to Jupiter in Scorpio, so much will be uncovered, revealed in the coming weeks concerning the ongoing investigations of secret dealings and abuses of power leading to even more political drama, recounts in disputed elections. Work toward keeping your own thoughts focused in the directions that have meaning for you so as to avoid needless distractions and rabbit holes of doubt and fear.
Moon/Neptune conjunction in Aquarius: This alignment happens at the tail end of today, leading to late night conversations with friends and extraordinary dreams.
Sun November 18
Moon/Chiron conjunction in Pisces trine Sun in Scorpio: This helpful aspect is vulnerable, caring, open-hearted and revealing so enjoy thoughtful time conversing and being with those you trust.
Mon November 19
Mars in Aquarius square Jupiter in Scorpio: When Mars and Jupiter form tense aspects like today, we might see global military events exploding, sparring and tensions in sports arenas, dramas and intrigue associated with cultural leaders. You can use the intensity of this to stand firm in and stand up your beliefs and have exceptional energy for collaborative activist projects and initiatives.
Moon in Pisces square Pluto in Sagittarius: This event happens late tonight, and might lead to emotional purging or sudden release of grief or anguish. Pluto is a cosmic broom (or backhoe) that helps us sweep away old cobwebs of entrapment from past patterns or power abuses.
Tue November 20
Pallas Athene square Saturn in Sagittarius: Plans, projects, health routines might experience a glitch causing you to rethink your strategy. This focused aspect also provides a ‘stay with it’ determination, helping you bust through procrastination.
Grand Trine: Sun in Scorpio trine Chiron in Pisces trine North Lunar Node in Cancer: The astrological aspect of a grand trine is one of the most beneficial and uplifting of all. This one happens in water signs which governs your emotions, and your right-brain intuitive side. Go with the flow as you listen more deeply to yourself with your inner ears and inner eyes and receive a plethora of helpful insights.
Moon/Uranus conjunction in Aries: This aspect is in very different than to the above one, making this day very interesting. It is volatile and sharp, shocking and freedom-loving.
Wed November 21
Sun in Scorpio quincunx Uranus in Aries: Both these signs rule the warrioress/warrior spirit, can be competitive and combative and also deeply determined to make change. The quincunx aspect implies a need to make an adjustment to your plans as new information is revealed or a new impulse arises.
Happy Full Moon tomorrow!
