New SolLunar Cycle ~ Year of the Fire Monkey

This week marks the finale of our New Year’s festivities for 2016. The New Year honored this week by the Tibetan and Chinese cultures is called “The Year of the Fire Monkey”. The energy of the Fire Monkey (check out the fun link) will influence people in unique ways according to their personal animal sign. It promises to be a year chock-full of trickster energy, movement, initiation, exploring, curiosity, and travel. Thankfully, this energetic adds a vivaciousness and joy to the underlying more serious and challenging aspects of the on-going historic T-square of Jupiter/Saturn/Neptune and the upcoming Mars retrograde that always stirs the pots of our personal and collective passions.
Here’s how my sidereal compatriot Nick Anthony Fiorenza describes the upbeat theme of this New SolLunar cycle: “The New Moon lies under the auspices of Dephinus, the Dolphin star system, and over Gruis the Crane, of decisive decisions, harbinger of fortuitous tidings, especially regarding legalities, business dealings, and news associated with new life and new beginnings. This is an eloquently expressive and articulate area of the zodiak, with gregarious and loquacious qualities. Delphinus’ influence invites us to breathe and trust in higher principle, and to allow ourselves to be guided by higher forces into opportunities or directions that would not occur by our efforts alone.” Sounds quite lovely and, synchronistically, seems to mirror aspects of the Fire Monkey.
Also of note this week, even though the worst may be over, Sun and Mars continue to duke it out in a challenging waning square. Move your body and emotions physically, vocally, so they don’t get blocked, thus avoiding accidents, heart issues, digestive stress due to inflammation, or things literally blowing up around you. You may also feel a renewed sense of knowing what path you need take, which actions to pursue, what direction you are ready to head into.

Here is a list of New Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza at LunarPlanner:
“Beginning the Sprouting Phase of the Lunar Cycle, a new theme emerges, a new idea or concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. Often this process is one of discovery, slowly revealing a simple theme over a day or two, or it may be quite clear and specific, even suggesting a major life change. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation or a quite walk—to go within self and listen.”

Note: I write my posts according to the Lunar cycles, posting on the New, First Quarter, Full and Third Quarter Moons. I encourage you to work with and within these natural flow of time and supportive cosmic energy, which ensures your life will flow with more ease and grace. I base my interpretations and predictions on the true sidereal astronomical alignments. See how in this StarWalk2 photo, both Sun and Moon are aligning in sidereal Capricorn for this New SolLunar cycle:
Mon February 8
New SolLunar cycle in Capricorn square Mars in Libra: This isn’t a low-key New Moon. Since both the Sun, our conscious sunnier Selves, and the Moon, our subconscious shadowy aspects, are making an aggravating square to bellow-your-truth Mars, this New Moon is hyperactive and will be highly motivating, in line with the image of the Fire Monkey. The challenge might be to not be impulsive before you have considered various outcomes.
To reiterate, here’s what I wrote above in my introduction:

Mercury enters Capricorn: With this shift, the way you mentally see things can become more realistic, logistical, organized for the coming few weeks. During this transit, you might engage in a new forum to acquire knowledge, learn a new language, complete your taxes.
Tue February 9
Moon in Aquarius conjunct Ceres/Neptune: As the conjunction grows in the coming three weeks between Ceres ~ asteroid of nurturance, care-giving, environmental and food issues ~ and Neptune ~ dreaming a new dream ~ in humanitarian Aquarius, exciting collaborative partnerships will emerge that will benefit our global humanity and Earth. Today as the Moon makes a monthly alignment with both of them, you might feel inspired to participate in such a partnership. Today is also wonderful for gathering together with friends, sharing in groups, volunteering your time. Lastly, this alignment can manifest as social media on steroids as everyone wants to connect and share.
Wed February 10
Venus in Sagittarius trine Jupiter in Leo: This aspect often manifests as positive financial news for many. As both planets are in fire signs, the support might also come in the form of positive feedback from another, or an uprising sense of self-confidence and faith you are on the right track.
Moon/Chiron/South Lunar Node in Aquarius opposite Jupiter/North Lunar Node in Leo: The Lunar Nodes are points that often define what we are completing (South) and what we are beginning (North). Jupiter on the North Node is beckoning us all to exciting possibilities, more joyful ways of being. Today’s Moon/Chiron on the South Node might manifest as healing wounds with an old friend, ready to begin anew. Or you might find you can at last release yourself from relationships that have seen their day. Time to move forward.
Sun in Capricorn inconjunct Jupiter in Leo: Leo cherishes play and time off and Capricorn respects work and putting in the long hours. Today’s inconjunct aspect implies adjustments need to be made to make sure you can milk the vitality and creativity of this alignment, which might mean less goofing off or finding a way to relax so the creative juices can flow again. Consider making that business meeting an outdoor walking talk, bringing fresh air and literal Light to help inspire you. This aspect is excellent for accomplishing exceptional athletic adventures as well.
Thu February 11
Moon in Pisces sextile Pallas Athene in Capricorn: Many of the previous days aspects are continuing to influence you. Chances are, you’ve been working very hard, both internally and externally. Take some relaxing time off today. This positive aspect supports relaxing stiff muscles with a swim, a hot tub so you can allow blessings and gifts to flow to you.
Fri February 12
Moon in Pisces square Pluto: As this takes place early this morning, some of you might wake up emotional and tearful, painfully aware of recent losses you have faced. It’s an intensely emotional day. For you swimmers, it’s an excellent day for an longer than usual endurance swim.
Venus enters Capricorn: Venus is associated with personal finances, a love of beauty and art, a desire to express our love to others as well as fully appreciate ourselves. Capricorn likes the best of the best of anything, and is also willing to work hard to pay for it. As Venus makes her annual transit through sidereal Capricorn, you might feel your own ambitions rise up and take hold of you in inspiring, focused ways. It’s time to structure your time, set goals, in order to make those dreams and creative projects an eventual reality.
Sat February 13
Moon in Aries square Mercury in Capricorn: This temperamental aspect takes place as you are waking up, leading to outbursts or a short fuse, especially between parents and children. The independent Aries Moon wants to be the boss while the influence of Capricorn can be more controlling and domineering. Luckily, this is a very fleeting portal and chances are, disagreements can be sorted out quickly.
Mars in Libra sextile Jupiter in Leo: This wonderful aspect provides extra energy and enthusiasm. Mars in Libra likes to work in partnership with others, so find ways your goals might be in synch with another, such as finding a similar passion or planning a trip with a beloved or colleague. Jupiter brings a spirit of cooperation and faith that all will work out. Breakthroughs and solutions are possible today.
Sun enters sidereal Aquarius: Our illuminating Sun enters enlightened Aquarius, the sign that cares about all of creation and discovers future innovation. It is wonderful celestial news that we experience this awakened and awakening portal each early spring, inspiring us to advance the service and goals of our Future Selves, while fully embracing the present moment. Aquarius’s symbol is the beautiful rainbow ~ compassion, kindness, accepting of all, being your vibrant one-of-a-kind Self.
Sun February 14
Moon in Aries opposite Juno/Mars in Libra: This news is both good and challenging for those of you celebrating Valentine’s Day with a beloved. There’s lots of fire and spark with the Moon/Mars opposition, but that can also lead to spats, battles of willfulness, or differing desires about how to spend the day. Aries needs freedom and Libra likes relationship. This aspect can lead to honest conversations about relationship issues as well as initiate new choices going forward.
