Last Quarter Moon

Something to ponder this week is this: How does your relationship to yourself out-picture in both uplifting or challenging ways in your outer relationships, both personal and professional? Do you feel kindness, appreciation and acceptance toward yourself, or are you more prone to condemn and judge yourself? What do you frequently attract in terms of responses from those around you, be that from a close associate or random encounters? This entire week, the illumination of our Sun is making a series of tense squares to Juno (core relationships) and Mars (passion, frustration, anger, speaking your inner truth). It’s a great week to be forthright: straightforward, honest and direct with yourself and with others.
It’s also the week of the Last Quarter Moon, a time which can bring insights about what you just navigated in the previous heavy-duty three weeks, as the supernova explosiveness of the Mercury/Pluto conjunction completes, and Jupiter crossing the North Lunar Node, catalyzed new ventures that will be part of your 2016. Congratulations! Next week, we will enter a new SolLunar cycle, one that marks Tibetan/Chinese New Year.

“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. A sense of completion comes forth with a recognition that the past scenario has served its purpose and it is time to leave what is antiquated behind. Essentially a lesser self is what we will be shedding. Step forth from old facades, and free yourself from past ways of participating in life. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”

Last Quarter Moon: Moon/Mars/Juno in Libra square Sun in Capricorn: This complex alignment can make for confrontation in relationships or a clear desire to take a partnership to the next level. The Moon rules the emotions and Mars loves make things happen, so on a day like today, you tend to want to act impulsively on what you feel like doing, in the moment. Go for it!. The Last Quarter square of Moon to Sun is about putting the finishing touches on the events of the completing SolLunar cycle, or begin to prepare for upcoming ceremonies you want to create for the fabulous New Moon of February 8, which will also be the Tibetan/Chinese New Moon.
Mercury in Sagittarius square Uranus in Pisces: As this aspect occurs late tonight, possibly while you are trying to fall asleep, you may be suddenly stirred to get up again, inspired, or feel a quickening or quaking in your nervous system. Uranus rules the electrical circuitry of the nervous system and is prone to spontaneity or sudden shifts. This transit marks an important completion to the entire Mercury retrograde cycle we just completed, sparking illuminations, epiphanies, moments of awakening. You might feel a return to a lightness of mind, not the heaviness of the recent Pluto/Mercury days. Thank goodness we are done with that cycle!

Sun in Capricorn square Juno in Libra: Today might be the day you sign the papers for a new business venture or begin plans for an upcoming wedding later this year, two possibilities along with many others. This aspect is excellent for creating more order and organization in your parenting or relationship roles as well. Sometimes a tense conversation will be necessary to arrive at a place of new understanding, accepting your differences, so you can create greater compatibility going forward.
Moon/Mars conjunction in Libra: This aspect mirrors the above one and adds an edge of sharp combativeness or need for direct action.
Tue February 2
Festival of Lights: Today’s sacred Earth Holyday is also called Imbolc or Candlemas. It’s the day the bright light of our Sun is now halfway between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. This day often brings the awareness that Spring is just around the corner for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. One tradition suggests you light every candle in your home tonight to honor the gift of the Sun’s life-giving Light. It’s also a perfect day to focus on goal-setting or intention-creating.
Moon in Scorpio square Ceres in Aquarius: The emotive Moon is in deep, delving Scorpio today. Don’t make light of things that shouldn’t be ignored or they might get worse. The square to Ceres in Aquarius spawns intimate conversations with friends or total strangers.
Wed February 3
Sun in Capricorn sextile Saturn/Moon in Scorpio: This waning sextile is usually a supportive one, creating a sense of excitement about upcoming possibilities. Sun is in responsible Capricorn, and the serious tone of the Moon/Saturn conjunction in financial Scorpio supports you in following up on what needs to be done to make those possibilities a reality. If you focus, it will happen, just like in Field of Dreams.
Venus in Sagittarius sextile Juno in Libra: This aspect can bring in a feeling of well-being or support in your key relationships. Feel the Universe’s helping hand reaching out to assist you in the most perfect way, possibly through a surprising encounter or the mention of a new counselor, coach or guide to help you.
Thu February 4
Moon in Scorpio square Jupiter/Lunar Nodes: You might wake up in a financial freak-out as this aspect happens in the early morning hours. The square can also manifest as clear decisiveness about what needs to be done to more forward. No more procrastinating.
Vesta/Uranus conjunction in Pisces: Vesta is a very complex archetype. She rules hearth and home, security needs, being very focused and dedicated, our sexual fires. Today’s alignment with shocking Uranus can bring a sense of urgency to shift focus dramatically, seeking new solutions to existing dilemmas. You might take a leap of faith into a surprising intimate encounter. Or some of you might experience some sort of water event in your home, such as a waterline breaking. Plumbers will be busier than usual today.
Fri February 5
Venus/Pluto/Moon conjunction in Sagittarius: This once-annual, always intense, obsessive Venus/Pluto conjunction is joined this year by the emotional Moon, sure to spark extreme responses and overreactions. You can’t avoid it, but try not to make it worse by over-dramatization for those prone to drama. Venus rules what we love and most desire, Moon alerts us to what we need to be emotionally content, and Pluto takes us down to the raw, real, bare-boned truth. Venus is also one of the indicators of finances, so the markets are often volatile on a day like today. Financial counselors might feel overwhelmed and overworked today.
Sat February 6
Mercury in Sagittarius trine Jupiter/North Node in Leo: Our mental field is more philosophical, visionary and future-oriented when Mercury is transiting Sagittarius. Today’s helpful trine to upbeat Jupiter, the astrological ruler of Sagittarius, makes for an optimistic view of life and a sense you can do anything, if you set your mind’s compass in the right direction.
Moon/Mercury conjunction in Sagittarius: This monthly alignment of Moon (emotions) and Mercury (thoughts) makes for voracious conversations but also dogmatic sparring as truth swords fly. Sagittarius can be prone to righteousness.
Sun February 7
Sun in Capricorn square Mars in Libra: It’s finally here, this tense square of Sun to Mars that’s been building to completion all week. Mars is about willfulness, defensiveness, taking action. The square to the Sun can make people exceptionally tense and combative, so try not to engage with attacks if you are attacked. Practice the art of Aikido today, take this dynamic energy of Mars coming your way as new found passion, drive, energy, assertiveness to turn your life in the direction you want it to go.
Moon/Pallas Athene conjunction in Capricorn: This aspect supports strategic planning on all levels and is excellent for bringing more order and organization into your life.
Balsamic Moon: The Year of the Fire Monkey is almost here, arriving tomorrow. This last day of the completing SolLunar cycle promises to be a busy one given the above aspects.
