Ah, Winter Solstice arrives in our Northern Hemisphere on Dec 21, 2013. May this be a sacred joyful time for you as you complete 2013 in both contemplation and celebration, and plant seeds of intention for 2014.
Mon Dec 16
Today is like the great pause that exists between any two breaths. The Full Moon is building to full illumination early tomorrow morning. Also tomorrow, the wild eccentric revolutionary Uranus returns to forward momentum completing it’s retrograde period from mid July. Be still for some part of today as Uranus itself is virtually standing still in relationship to Earth. Also with the ‘keep it simple’ Taurus Moon in opposition to ‘let’s delve deeper’ Mercury in Scorpio, your feelings and thoughts might seem as if they are in conflict, yet this is instead an opportunity to examine all sides of an issue as you await the arrival of clarity. Pause. No need to rush.
Tue Dec 17
Surprises, shocks or shocking events, accidents, breakthroughs are all possibilities today as Uranus completes it’s retrograde cycle from mid July. Uranus suggests, always, to follow, as much as you are willing, your authentic nature wherever it takes you. Sudden twists and turns of destiny await you. Uranus, to me, inspires the greatest courage of all: to be yourself. Pay acute attention to what is transpiring right now, accepting it as an unforeseen gift. And today also holds a pre-dawn Full Moon making wonderful galactic alignments. The Sun in Sagittarius aligns with the Gate of Divinity, an astrological zone of bright wisdom and illumination ever streaming forth to assist us in our planetary, galactic awakening. And the Moon is in Gemini, aligned with the Gate of Humanity~how to bring that inspiration into the daily practice, commerce, decisions of day to day living? Ask yourself, how am I bringing all my inspiration down to Earth? How am I both inspired, and inspiring others, co-creating a Universe of Joy? So be it~it is so.
Wed Dec 18
As we absorb the gifts and lessons of yesterday’s Full Moon, the Moon continues to dispense and disperse moments of insight and breakthrough to each of us. Luna (the Moon’s other name) first squares Uranus creating the clarity of epiphanies, then opposes Pluto, possibly manifesting as power tugs and tussles or momentary obsession, and finally Luna aligns with exuberant optimistic Jupiter causing intense mood swings or hope regained. Ride this super high tide of emotion and become a master surfer. And as Jupiter makes a square to care taking, Earth loving Ceres, more folks are making the link, at last, that the key to the health of our species is inextricably tied to the health of Earth’s ecosystems.
Thu Dec 19
The Cancer Moon and Venus in Capricorn are in opposition today. Discussions may arise about how to balance time spent at home, time spent at work, responsibilities to our family members, and commitments to our professional colleagues. Keep in mind and heart, Full Moon insights are still pouring in, if you are a receptive vessel. Stay attuned!
Fri Dec 20
To me, today is New Year’s Eve. This is the last day of the old year as the Sun is reaching that moment of turnaround, the darkest night completes in our northern hemisphere. Light your luminaries and candles tonight. Keep the night aglow with gratitude for all you have accomplished this past year. And Mercury, the planetary ruler of our mind, leaves the darker deeper realms of Scorpio (you know what I am talking about) and enters Sagittarius, a fire sign considered to carry faith and hope, reminding us of the possibility of perpetual resurrection. Perhaps out of your probing analysis of what works/doesn’t work in your life throughout all of November/December, you are now better equipped to head into lighter, brighter terrain. Find a book to inspire new possibility or discover what new country/language inspires you to keep growing, learning, exploring~ all Sagittarius’s attributes.

10:11 am MST marks Winter Solstice and we begin our cosmic New Year, honoring the natural planetary calendar that you might consider following if you want to live within the flow of the Universe. Life can unfold more gracefully with greater ease. It’s all about your perspective, what you imagine is possible. Make a commitment to live more closely by our lunar calendar~check out this link of my beloved friend and colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza~http://www.lunarplanner.com. If you are a gardener, explore the biodynamic methods which link the celestial cycles to Earth’s productivity. Truly a cosmic blessing. This is the other key event today:Venus~ruler of beauty, art, love, one’s ethics, values, financial matters~turns retrograde until Jan 31 2014. All these arenas might require more inward reflection, re-tuning, re-examining despite commitments you have already made. This energetic supports the theme of hibernation while also giving birth to new conditions.
Sun Dec 22
The creative fun-loving Leo Moon is in a happy trine to the energetic athletic Sagittarius Sun. Use the gift of today for artistic or outdoor exploration. And this same playful artistic Moon opposes Neptune in Aquarius~your true tribe and fellow explorers. Share adventure today with others. Connect, collaborate, concoct some fun! I also want to give you a head’s up about the next week’s potentially volatile energies as Mars triggers the Uranus~Pluto square. The definition of volatile is “libel to change rapidly and unpredictably.” Guess what the name of next week’s Signposts might be? Solstice Blessings to you and yours and our beloved Earth.
Teton Spirit Connection
I recently wrote the following paragraph for the upcoming issue of Teton Spirit Connection Magazine (www.tetonspirit.com), due out this week. Look for it in and around Jackson Hole Wyoming:
“Two key themes are at play astrologically in the first half of 2014. The catalytic, chaotic, even erratic evolutionary square from 2012-2015 of Uranus~associated with revolutions, true democracy, whistle blowers, neurological symptoms~to Pluto~power struggles, plutocracy, biological cleansing~continues. As we enter phase two of this cycle in 2014-2015, we will hopefully experience the resurrection energetic of this cycle, versus the deconstructive influences of the past two years. The second theme is that all three of our most personal planets move through retrograde phases in the first fives months of the year. Venus in January, Mercury in February, and Mars in March through mid May. Translation? The opening months of this year might involve more introspection, re-evaluation, reflection, simply rest and recuperation.” I would also add this: the detour you may need to take is probably the exact path you actually need to be embarking upon. Patience will be required, and beware of injuries and accidents especially with the Mars retrograde cycle from March 1-May 19 2014.
