New Moon in Cancer

Once again, we are being birthed into a new SolLunar cycle, this one taking place in sidereal (meaning true astronomical alignment) Cancer. The latter part of Cancer carries a particular message and focus, articulated clearly by my friend and sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza: “Cancer the Crab articulates the theme of humanity’s emergence from suppression, darkness, dogma, and delusion and its reawakening back to light. Cancer, or the Scarab, imparts a nurturing, protective and cultivating quality, ultimately to support this emergence. This lunar cycle impels us to hold onto that which is of value and is truly nurturing but it also impels us to relinquish crustaceans or calcifications in consciousness that limit our emergence into light and illumination.”
Nick goes on to describe the meaning of the Acubens, the star aligned with this New Moon:
Acubens, expresses as a long established heritage, lineage, inheritance, birthright, bloodline or something passed down through generations. Acubens can also articulate our entrapment in dogma passed down though lineage. Acubens can impel a tenacious and stubborn resistance to release the patterns we hold that keep us entrapped in limiting life scenarios.” It looks to be a four-week period to examine our beliefs about our past, our familial and historical beliefs. Time to decide what to discard, and what to retain as we head into a future that is guiding us toward greater awakening, compassion and abundance for all.
This week is also full of dynamic, fireball Leo aspects as other planets are taking up residence in the astrological sign of sunshine, creativity and courage.

Here is a list of New Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from LunarPlanner:
“Beginning the Sprouting Phase of the Lunar Cycle, a new theme emerges, a new idea or concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. Often this process is one of discovery, slowly revealing a simple theme over a day or two, or it may be quite clear and specific, even suggesting a major life change. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation or a quite walk—to go within self and listen.”
Note: I write my posts according to the Lunar cycles, posting on the New, First Quarter, Full and Third Quarter Moons. If you to work with and within these natural flow of time and supportive cosmic energy, your life will flow with more ease and grace. My interpretations and predictions are based on the true sidereal astronomical alignments. Here’s a Star Walk photograph of this New Moon as both Sun and Moon meet up in Cancer:
Tue August 2
New SolLunar cycle in Cancer: Cancer celebrates a love of family (and those we claim as our family) and an appreciation of our homes, land, gardens. It is a fitting sign for immersing ourselves in the height of verdant summer (in our Northern Hemisphere), and entertaining at home with a cornucopia of beauty and nourishment, even excess. Please re-read my introduction for the meaning surrounding this New SolLunar cycle. As the emotional Moon is in private Cancer today, you may be feeling the pull to rest, nap, stay home, or share your stories with those you trust. If you have felt a bit low or needing more rest lately, your energy may soon bounce back with the Moon entering fireball Leo tomorrow.
Wed August 3
Sun in Cancer quincunx Neptune in Aquarius: The nature of Cancer is linked to tribal affiliations, primarily interested in the well-being of our personal family. Today the Sun makes an aspect of adjustment to Neptune in Aquarius, whose concerns are for all of the rainbow family of humanity. Conversations can occur around being safe or staying open, around solely protecting ourselves or feeling compassion for the universal suffering of others. Neptune rules the power of our imagination to re-dream what is possible in our collective Field. And remember, you are one of the dreamers.
Moon/Venus conjunction: A delightful combo, when Moon ~ what you need ~ and Venus ~ what you want ~ make a monthly rendezvous, this time in playful, sunny Leo. This brings about more optimism and joy. Be spontaneous, follow your heart and something wonderful will cross your path.
Thu August 4
Moon/Mercury conjunction in Leo: The emotional Moon teams up with intellectual Mercury, creating a talkative heart and a listening mind. Leo reminds us to stay positive and optimistic. Appreciate the life you are living and keep dreaming about emerging creative opportunities.
Moon in Leo square Saturn in Scorpio opposite Neptune in Aquarius: The square aspect can lead to pressured decision-making or a recognition it is time to move on. The clock is ticking, you are bored or done with something, and ready for new adventures. Use the courage of the Lion-hearted Leo Moon to take action.
Fri August 5
Moon in Leo conjunct the North Lunar Node: Working with the theme of this new SolLunar cycle I spoke about in the above introduction, this alignment supports you moving beyond outdated dogmas and beliefs about your past, including the idea “this is just the way it is, the way it will always be”, which is never the truth of our world. You simply have to be willing to let go of the past and courageously be the leader of your own life and desires. The alignment of our Moon with the North Lunar Node of future destiny suggests something wonderful is about to arrive. Be bold and say yes!
Moon/Jupiter conjunction in Leo: A Friday night Moon/Jupiter conjunction seems perfectly timed to celebrate the week’s end. Look to the west just after sunset and you will see the gift of the hopeful crescent Moon with bright Jupiter nearby. Use this planetary portal of positivity to prayer, intend, call forth that which you truly desire. This conjunction sparks joviality, excess, staying up later than expected, or having a hard time falling asleep.
Sat August 6
Venus in Leo square Mars in Scorpio: This tense aspect encourages you take a stand or act immediately on an issue your heart knows is important and imperative. Also good for aligning your budget with creative goals.
Mercury in Leo square Saturn in Scorpio: This aspect can lead to a leaden state of mind, a dip into feeling a bit down or just more ponderous. It’s a good day to look at your bank statements if you have avoided facing your financial reality, or you might mistakenly bounce a check. Mercury rules our vehicles, so it’s also a great day to clean out and shine up your ride.
Sun August 7
Mercury in Leo opposite Neptune in Aquarius: This aspect shines a spotlight on the power of your imagination which is infinite and powerful. You just have to remember to use the tool of your mind to craft and design the life you desire. Excellent day for daydreaming and brainstorming with others.
Moon in Virgo square Pluto in Sagittarius: The healing energy of a Virgo Moon activates the truth-telling of Pluto in Sagittarius, leading to honest conversations or argumentative battles. And there’s certainly a lot of those going on these days! Belt out your truth, but remember to listen with discernment, too.
Mon August 8
Mercury/North Lunar Node conjunction in Leo: An excellent day to ‘market’ your skills with those who need to hear your pitch. Feel a sense of faith in yourself, your idea, your wild imagination. Feel a natural confidence to take one simple action that supports that forward momentum, always the gift of a planetary alignment with the futuristic North Lunar Node.
Moon in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries: Disruptive Uranus in independent Aries makes a stand-off to relational, peacemaking Moon in Libra, leading to fireworks in core relationships and partnerships of all kinds. Explosions and realizations are possible.
Tue August 9
Moon/Juno in Libra opposite Ceres in Aries: After yesterday’s explosions and awakenings in relationships (including the one you have with your self), this aspect can seek peace and reconciliation out of the blowups that may have ensued. Also, explore new alliances that have a unique way of nurturing you in unexpected ways.
