Gusty
“Floating Clouds” by Lyn Dalebout
Mon May 5
Today begins a stimulating astrological aspect called a minor grand trine between our Sun ~ time to shine ~ and Jupiter ~ creates a sense of optimism and courage ~ and Chiron ~ opportunity to release old wounds or outworn modes of thinking that might be holding you back. Jupiter aspects are generally considered positive, but it is also my experience they can feel like a pressure cooker and pushy, and sometimes we don’t want to budge. Hopefully you can use this dynamic over the next three days to choose to budge in the direction of your choosing.

You may awaken with a desire to focus on the financial reality of a creative project in which you are currently engaged. Can we really afford to paint the house at this time? Will I have the money to take that trip if I commit now? Should I buy that new lens for my camera in hopes of selling my photographs eventually? That kind of thing. Mercury in Taurus ~ practical grounded thinking or security oriented thinking ~ is in a tense square to Pallas Athene in Leo ~ creativity galore, and playing around with new possibilities. You may feel a struggle between choosing to live in a mindset of “this is just the way it is, accept it” or the heartmindset that “anything is possible if I can dream it”. This aspect is also great for indulging in some kind of beauty treatment. Splurge. As the evening progress, the action quarter of this lunar cycle kicks in. It’s called the first quarter Moon (it actually looks like a half Moon, which can be puzzling) and that can mean you want to burn the midnight oil. Time to get to work. Don’t be surprised if you have an active night of dreaming too. We often make our greatest creative breakthroughs in the dreamtime. Have you discovered that?

Today the exact Sun sextile Chiron aspect I mentioned above completes. With the Sun in independent, even enlightened Aries, and Chiron in friendship, community minded Aquarius, this would be a great day to join forces with others. Yes, we need to accept we truly are alone as we navigate the complexity of our individual Being and creative longings, yet we are in this together, creating this new world in communion. With the Moon ~ our emotions ~ aligning with Pallas Athene in creative Leo ~ chances are new collaborative projects are burgeoning today. Share your joy with others. Or sign up for a class that will re-engage or activate your creative juices.
Thu May 8
Our emotion driven Moon is in heat driven, forceful, spontaneous Leo for another day and a half. Your heart may desire a break from work and life’s responsibilities and advise you to play hooky, at least for a few hours today. The Moon opposes Neptune in Aquarius as well, which calls up romantic longings of past or future loves or times in your life. Indulge your creative musings today, and ask the question: where does my joy want to take me next? In what direction? With whom? Doing what? Being what?

The next two days, especially tomorrow, have a Saturnian feel to it as our illuminating Sun makes a once-yearly opposition to Saturn. This can feel like you’ve hit the doldrums, forced to stand still, or it can feel heavier than heavy metal, or it can call up a deeper desire to focus the power of your attention on accomplishing your goals. I like to describe Saturn as Beethoven-like. I revere Beethoven’s music, but I don’t want to play it everyday. Right now I am listening to one of my favorites of his as I write, the Late Sonata #32 in C Minor Opus 11 by pianist Richard Goode. I am preparing for this transit in hopes it will manifest positively and productively in my life. Today’s helpful trine between the Sun and Moon will create upbeat moments inspiring confidence and a can-do attitude.

Please re-read yesterday’s post. Just after sunrise our Sun makes it’s annual opposition to Saturn. You may have some kind of serious meeting or appointment you have to finally face today, no more avoidance. It’s kind of like accepting the reality you can no longer delay having that root canal (Saturn sometimes teaches us via pain and restriction), or you finally examine the data of your annual blood work profile and accept what it is really telling you about the status of your health. I tend to use medical analogies when I ‘talk Saturn’ or feel fearful, go figure! Saturn can call up fear, and it can also call up the courage to face those fears head on. Today’s Virgo Moon does like data and science and is focused on health as well. And Virgo loves to research. Go on line and search deeper into understanding some topic of interest. To finish, all this Saturnian energy can be used in many other areas of your life. Engage in meaningful deeply honest conversations, team up with a friend to commit to exercising a few times a week, sign a contract and commit. Write your own contract about something you’ve been longing to attempt, and commit. Be sure to sign the contract, no wiggling out! Maybe I will commit to at last learning Beethoven’s Late Sonata 32 in C Minor before I conclude this life. Hmmm…interesting…something to ponder.
Sun May 11
This day may have major gustiness. That’s always a possibility when the Moon and Mars make a monthly conjunction. The Moon is considered to be the ruler of our emotions and Mars is the ruler of our passions, our forthrightness, and anger. Righteous anger. This aspect is prominent in activist’s charts. And as Venus in Pisces ~ compassion for all, feeling the suffering of the world ~ opposes the Moon/Mars conjunction, it may be your tears are leading the way. Tears of sadness, tears of joy. Be an activist today either in search of a cause or aligning with something you deeply care about healing within yourself or in our larger world.
