Last Quarter Moon

I welcome the gifts of this week: A Jupiter/Venus conjunction and the completion of the Mars/Saturn conjunction. In the above picture, you will see Mars and Saturn aligning in stinging Scorpio, about to initiate a new two-year cycle. Sadly, last night’s devastating earthquake striking the heart of Italy is one of many global events linked to the dynamic forces of both Mars and Saturn, oftentimes leading to violent destruction of forms and structures in our lives.
Here’s a condensed history about what we’ve just navigated. (You can always re-read my previous Star Signposts on my website to refresh your memory about specific weeks.) What was happening to you starting in mid-February, 2016? That’s when this super-charged, deeply-cleansing, catastrophically-purging Mars in sidereal Scorpio began. Then when Mars was retrograde from April 17-June 29, recollect what you were releasing, what was being shed. It was a very challenging time emotionally as well, as we navigated much internal chaos and confusion and let go of old support structures and ways of being. July and August have been months to live empty for a time, as we contemplate what we wish to create or resurrect in our lives going forward. Now with the final conjunction of Mars and Saturn on August 24, we begin the outward creation phase of this next two year period. Patience is still required, which is hard under the influence and frustration this conjunction also brings.
Also this week, we enter the Last Quarter Moon phase of the current SolLunar cycle, completing tasks in anticipation of future directions to be vigorously launched with the next New SolLunar cycle of September 1.

Here is a description of the qualities of the Last Quarter Moon phase compliments of my friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. A sense of completion comes forth with a recognition that the past scenario has served its purpose and it is time to leave what is antiquated behind. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”

Mars/Saturn/Antares conjunction finale: Here’s a modified version of what I wrote last week about this aspect: “Ouch, and GRRRR….., and yikes! This aspect is exact today, but we have been living the intensity for much of 2016. Mars and Saturn in old-time astrology are often called ‘malefic’, meaning they tend to show up as bringers of limitation, restriction, frustration, and fighting. As they are meeting up in delving, death-bringing, political, power-conscious Scorpio, conflicts come to a boiling head or conflagration. However, another side of this aspect, not so malefic, sparks extreme determination to accomplish great feats. It also marks a major turning point leading to a new ferocity of commitment, that actually began last February. All the things you have been saying you want to do, now you actually feel you can say ‘no’ to the old habits and ‘yes’ to the new.”
Because these planets are meeting up with the star of Antares, the Heart of the Scorpion, things may continue to blow up exponentially, including the many fires burning in the Western US. Antares governs the money and power behind our politics, so further exposes of corruption are still to come. Antares also activates our deepest creative urges, and asks the question: “Are you using your creative power in negative destructive ways, or taking charge of the universally-given right to be a creator of your life experience?” Love and creation in the time of fire.
Last Quarter Moon: Sun in Leo square Moon in Taurus: As both Leo and Taurus love and live in the ways of beauty and sensuality, today’s a good day to commit to further beautification of your life, home, body, our world. Taurus rules money so design a budget that always includes the necessity of beauty in your life, whatever that means to you, be it a weekly bouquet of flowers, a monthly massage, organic food. Committing to beauty is a vibrational shift that will only bring more good things, including money, into your life.
Venus in Leo opposite Chiron in Aquarius: Healing and honesty in a friendship might occur or a life-coaching conversation to help another are possible today.

Moon in Taurus opposite Mars/Saturn in Scorpio: The commitment to complete things continues today under the productive Moon in Taurus. As all planets are also squaring Neptune, some might experience disillusionment (taking off the rose-colored glasses about a situation) while others feel a new found belief in the power of the imagination to create what you want, especially in regards to your financial and infrastructure needs.
Venus enters Virgo: Venus, planet of love, creativity, personal finance, enters devotional, hard-working Virgo for the coming weeks. This will bring increased discipline, and for some, a desire to eat healthier, fresher, unprocessed food that naturally lifts one’s entire vibrational field.

Mars in Scorpio square Neptune in Aquarius: The heaviness of the recent Mars/Saturn alignment, slightly eases with this aspect, providing you are able to keep your hopes and positive intentions alive by daily, sometimes hourly, focus. That’s the key right now, having daily routines that keep you centered and calm amidst the chaos and confusion encompassing Earth. Neptune guides our spiritual practices, so use the passion of Mars to stay attentive and grounded in your practices.
Moon in Gemini square Venus/Jupiter/Mercury: The inquisitive, gregarious, investigative Gemini Moon makes a pressured square to Venus (what you want) and the Moon (what you need). There’s lots of discussion going on about needs and desires, manifesting as an over-active internal dialogue or going after a partner with way too many questions. Jupiter’s influence exceedingly exaggerates the above. This is a highly productive aspect for writers.
Sat August 27
Jupiter/Venus conjunction in Virgo: As I mentioned earlier, Mars and Saturn are traditionally called ‘malefics’, often showing up as situations of challenge and limitation, while Venus and Jupiter are noted for being ‘benefics’, bringing abundance, optimism, joy, and love into our lives. This is welcome news! Because they align in discerning Virgo, you may be dissecting a potential love interest, or feel hyper-critical about your self, longing for perfection. Today, claim the perfection of the totality of YOU, with your perceived flaws and many gifts.
Moon/Vesta conjunction in Gemini: Focused, driven and investigative communications are part of this alignment. Great for reading/writing, too.

Sun in Leo trine Ceres in Aries: It’s a delightful day for sharing a hike, nurturing one another’s playful and athletic instincts while also feeling inspired that life is growing you in exciting, adventurous directions if you are open to that expansiveness. Love in the time of sunshine.

Mars in Scorpio square Lunar Nodes: This marks another important turning point for many. The South Lunar Node symbolizes our past and the North Lunar Node is our beckoning future. For some, today will be about entering new relationships, while releasing an old self-reliance, or conversely, releasing relationship and embracing independence again. Important news can arrive today.

Mercury goes retrograde: Wow, I can’t believe I missed writing about this when I posted earlier this week! But there’s a perfect example of Mercury going retrograde and missing a detail. I will address this in the Star Signposts for the New Moon on September 1. Sorry about that!
Moon trine Uranus: Not much happening today friends, just this easy aspect encouraging emotional risks and experimentation. Try one new thing.

Sun/Moon in Leo: As today is the last day of the completing SolLunar cycle, it’s an excellent day to reflect on what you accomplished in the last four weeks. The influence of happy Leo encourages celebrating with friends or just feeling happy about life, reconnecting with the joy of joy.
