Last Quarter Moon
“Yucca” photograph by Connie Wieneke
Mercury is now in retrograde till mid-May. This period might require breakdowns and that lead to upgrades in all your communication gadgets, vehicles, and in communications within your relationships. Use the cosmic energies of this week to your benefit to wrap up, tidy up all aspects of your life and space, discarding the unnecessary, always good advice during the Last Quarter phase of the Moon. A very dynamic SolLunar cycle begins May 6!
Thank you my friend, Connie Wieneke ~ poet, yogini, masterful organizer for our community of writers, and Development Director for the Jackson Hole Writers Conference ~ for this sensual photograph of first Yucca blossoms in the springtime desert.
Here is a description of the qualities of the Last Quarter Moon phase compliments of my friend and sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza at lunarplanner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. A sense of completion comes forth with a recognition that the past scenario has served its purpose and it is time to leave what is antiquated behind. Step forth from old facades, and free yourself from past ways of participating in life. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”
Please note: I make my posts according to the SolLunar cycles, posting on the New, First Quarter, Full and Last Quarter Moons. My hope is to support you to work with and within the natural flow of time, the Thirteen Moons of each year, which can help your life flow with more ease and grace. Also, I base my interpretations and predictions on the true sidereal astronomical alignments. Fri April 29
Last Quarter Moon: Sun in Aries square Moon in Capricorn: The ambitious and organized energy of a Moon in Capricorn forms a decision-making square to courageous Sun in Aries. Jump off the fence of indecision and charge ahead with a bold move. Or you might feel a battle between the obligations and responsibilities, and a pressing desire for freedom from those responsibilities.
Mercury retrograde in Aries sextile Chiron in Aquarius: Healing and revealing conversations amongst friends and community members are part of the gift of this positive aspect. You may find yourself writing an email or note asking for forgiveness, or giving it to another.
Sat April 30
Venus in Aries sextile Pallas Athene in Aquarius: This highly creative aspect works well for everyone, no matter your creative outlet, to bring more beauty, flow and grace into anything you are currently designing. Use it to feng-shui your home, work space, wardrobe, even your car. I believe even our ‘inanimate’ objects, like our vehicles or computer, respond to love and gratitude, offering longevity and safety in their service to us. Read The Nature of Things: Secret Life of Inanimate Objects by Lyall Watson, a classic.
Moon in Capricorn square Mercury/Vesta in Aries: This aspect helps you organize your desk, desktop, physical spaces according to what feels right so as to create a more productive work environment. Remember that this current Mercury retrograde cycle is excellent for clearing out the old, the moldy, especially in regards to ideas about who you think you, or others, are.
Sun May 1
Mercury retrograde/Vesta in Aries: This will be the second time mental Mercury exactly aligns with focused Vesta. The energy of Aries brings a cleansing fire to the mind and our communications. Observe your thoughts with greater clarity, tossing out beliefs and ideas that are truly holding you back. Use this sky gift to fiercely focus your mind to accomplish tasks and set new intentions.
Sun in Aries sextile Neptune in Aquarius: The potent power of imagination ~ Neptune ~ is lit up by an exciting sextile to the Sun in enlightening Aries. Claim you are the most powerful creator of the circumstances of your life. Will you continue to reoccurring dramas (which is fine if that is what you desire) or will you advance toward a life something different? Take a refresher course on how to manifest the life you want by re-reading any number of the old classics, like Getting into the Vortex, The Secret, The Power of Awareness.
Moon in Aquarius conjunct Pallas Athene/Neptune: This 2-3 day monthly period of Moon in friendship, futuristic Aquarius can bring a reconnection with acquaintances or spark a desire to find new social connections. Out of these connections, exciting collaborations may begin.
Mon May 2
Moon/South Lunar Node/Chiron conjunction: This aspect may take you back for another round of healing and release, resonating with challenges from earlier this year. Please recall how I have said the current conjunction of Chiron (the Wounded Healer) transiting the South Lunar Node (our history and past lives) is giving us all a fabulous opportunity to make completions so we can fully embrace the dynamic Jupiter in Leo (expansion, joy) on the North Lunar (our future destiny). Even those who tend toward hoarding or holding on can suddenly desire to let go.
Tue May 3
Sun in Aries trine Jupiter in Leo: This aspect is like a cloudless, bright sunny day bathing the entirety of Earth. Wake up naturally optimistic and confident, or find your way back to a more positive view of life.
Moon/Ceres in Pisces trine Mars in Scorpio: And here’s another supportive trine, this one in water signs, which govern our emotions and intuitions. Nurturing gifts may arrive, including those linked to your financial affairs. This aspect can bring a deluge of tears that you won’t fight expressing because it feels so good to release whatever it is you were holding onto. Reach out and offer emotional support to others today.
Wed May 4
Moon in Pisces conjunct Uranus square Pluto: A spring run-off of spontaneous tears might be part of today’s aspects. The Moon is also triggering the still every-present evolutionary square of Uranus and Pluto that continues to pressure humanity to wake-up and change everything from the ground up and the top down. This includes the catalyst of weather, so big floods and torrential storms are possible today.
Thu May 5
Moon/Venus conjunction in Aries: On this last day of the current SolLunar cycle (tomorrow is New Moon!), this lovely alignment merges perfectly our needs with our desires, infusing our heart with an unexplainable certainty about a key matter. It’s a good idea to rest more or reflect more at this phase of the Moon.
Venus in Aries quincunx Mars in Scorpio: This aspect, in tandem with the above one, has you searching your heart deeply for answers to your questions, or creating new questions. Conversations that delve deeper than ever before are possible. “Live the questions” as the poet, Rainer Maria Rilke, wisely writes.
