I was going to call this week “Ornery Star Signposts” but decided to frame this week’s upcoming astrological weather in a more positive way. We are navigating super intense Mars energies this week which will surely amp up our physical energy, drive, passion, motivation. But be aware you may still encounter ornery behavior within and around you. Ornery means bad-tempered, combative or ridiculously stubborn ~ all aspects of out of balance Mars energy. In addition, thankfully Saturn is returning to direct motion by Sunday, also good for new momentum and motivation.
Mon July 14
As the giant asteroid Ceres makes a rare conjunction with the Lunar North Node, this will mark a key turning point globally in regards to issues, movements, momentum surrounding environmental concerns including our food supplies, women rights around the world, deeper activism in regards to protecting the children of the world. It’s about time. Also consider making a personal commitment to leading a healthier life, whatever that means to you, as these two energies align in sidereal Virgo, the sign of health, healing, refinement and discernment. The Moon completes it’s monthly cycle in hard working Capricorn then moves to Aquarius as the day goes on. This can lighten your mood, encourage reconnecting with friends, expand your previous constricted notions of self. Cut loose.

This is a powerhouse of a day, packed with never-ending intensity and revelation. First off, the Sun squares our Lunar Nodes, which always means you may make a decision today that will have major implications for the future direction of your life. Relax….you will know what to do in the moment if you are paying attention. Next up, this aspect: an exact conjunction of Mars ~taking action ~ and Vesta ~dedication/focus. Think of yourself as being like those elite, courageous Hot Shot firefighters who willingly launch themselves into the heat of the hottest fires and in so doing, create safety for all. This aspect is about directing your intuitional will with passion and determination. Next up: an exciting sextile of Juno ~ key partners/beloveds ~ to Uranus ~experimentation/sudden shifts ~ everything can rapidly shift in regards to who supports you and who you want to support both financially and emotionally. And finally, the ever lovely monthly Moon/Neptune conjunction in Aquarius is about camaraderie, community collaboration, artistic innovation. Reach beyond your previous social barriers and launch a surprising new friendship.
Wed July 16
Our Sun enters sidereal (true astronomical alignment) Cancer and we begin a month long focus on nurturing our families, caring for our gardens including the Garden of Earth, healing old tribal conflicts. We will further witness globally, sadly, the on-going trauma of war, all based in ancient territorial useless fear-based conflicts. Haven’t we had enough of that? And as this begins, the Sun is in a tense square to Ceres ~ ruler of land, agriculture, care taking ~ which means we might see the potential for further warfare or the potential for creating a much needed bridge toward awakening the peace humanity so desperately desires. May this be so. This is nice: the Cancer Sun is in a supportive trine to the compassionate imaginative Pisces Moon. Use this aspect to collaboratively dream with your family members about what you most desire to see happen in your home, and in our larger home of Planet Earth. Both are linked. Make that connection stronger today. May your home be the cauldron of peace and consciousness that can manifest in our larger world.

Today is the day of major motivation (or orneriness)! The illumination of our Sun squares off with Mars and Vesta. Re-read Tuesday’s post. This kind of day tends to provide a trigger for change and can also be extremely volatile and explosive. Remember this: ultimately Mars is about speaking your inner truth, without defensiveness, without backing down, but with a surety of self that arises from your deepest core of truth. Don’t react, ACT. Act on your beliefs, on your core convictions, on your passionate inner and outer creative drives. And things don’t let up. Moon squares Pluto so catharsis and emotional obsession are triggered. Then, as night approaches, the Pisces Moon aligns with the great awakener, Uranus. Await an important dream tonight, perhaps dealing with ancient loss or grief from another time.

The explosiveness of the Sun/Mars/Vesta portal continues today, perhaps with a tad less heat and ferocity, but still burning and ferocious. Today, the emotive Moon aligns with the Lunar South Node, which means you might be grieving a past loss, but be ready to move forward after releasing a deluge of tears. Let if flow. And lastly, a grace-filled trine of Mercury to Neptune always calls up our imaginations, our desire to communicate in loving, compassionate tones, a longing for poetry, music, romance. Imbibe in your creative longings and urges and share that with your intimate others.
Sat July 19
There’s a tad of tension and a burst of joy today. Isn’t that just how life is most of the time? It’s the last quarter square of Moon to Sun which is about considering our next steps while also looking back honestly about what did or didn’t work over the past three weeks. There’s no such thing as failure in my opinion, but we can fail to learn from our missteps, right? There’s always room from improvement. The emotionally adventurous Aries Moon is in sextile to the curious intellectual Mercury in Gemini. Time to conversationally explore new ideas or be curious about ways to break free of an emotional rut. Talk it up with everyone, including that stranger sitting next to you in the cafe.
Sun July 20
Woot Woot! (definition: complete approval or joy….woot woot to that!) I saved the best astrological news for last. Not because I wanted to, but because today, on Sunday, at the end of this motivated and ornery week, Saturn finally turns to direct motion from it’s retrograde that started on March 1, 2014. The wise, teacherly, stern, tough-love Saturn sometimes gets a bad rap. But really Saturn is always about giving birth to new conditions in our lives. So today you will begin to feel this great holy turning of manifestation of all you have set in motion since November of 2013 when this cycle began. Take a moment of pause and reflection and give thanks for your courage to keep going amidst challenging times. I applaud you.
