First Quarter Moon
“The Chase” photograph by Ron Hummel
Thank you, Cathy and Ron Hummel, for sharing this photograph of this rare moment you witnessed. One of our most beloved Grand Teton female grizzlies, 399 (who is 20 years old) was chasing another favorite grizzly, named Blondie, (less than half 399’s age), sorting out whose territory is whose. Grandbearmother 399 won out, as she does every time. Check out the Hummel’s superb photography as they capture all things wild at Wildlife Visions.
This week, with the inherent tension of a First Quarter Moon, we engage with the next phase of choices and momentum happening in our lives. Are we are pursued by and pursuing our dreams, or taking a stand against someone else seeking to invade our territory? Sometimes that means we have to let go of an old habit, relationship, way of being (symbolized by the Moon) to further enhance the joys and health we seek to create (represented by the Sun).
Also this week, Venus, in her newly-birthed evening star phase, enters sidereal Gemini, triggering never-ending conversations all week long, going back and forth, eventually leading to decisions, especially in regards to relationships or business ventures. Also, nebulous, wise, imaginative Neptune turns retrograde from June 13-November 20. In light of this very important transit, a phrase came to me last week: I am consciously un-coupling with my former life. These helpful words explain what many of us are doing in 2016. Neptune’s influence helps us slowly, gracefully, lovingly dissolve the old self so we are naturally, easily reborn into our new skins, much like the transporter machine in Star Trek.
Just a reminder: I am now offering my Summer Solstice discounts on all my readings till the end of June, as well as mini-sessions to aid you in navigating this challenging Mars retrograde. Send me an email if you are interested. Thank you!

Here’s a list of the First Quarter Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza ~ www.lunarplanner.com
“The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Now is the time to drop all hesitation and take the steps to move forth on what you were inspired about…. it is time to now participate in trust and knowing. Trust in the process. Demonstrate this trust in physical action and you will be supported. This time is stressful or traumatic only if action is ignored. Simply, this phase is a time to work.”
Note: I write my posts according to the Lunar cycles, posting on the New, First Quarter, Full and Third Quarter Moons. If you work more consciously with and within the natural flow of time and supportive cosmic energy, your life can flow with more ease and grace. I base my interpretations and predictions on the true sidereal astronomical alignments. You can read about my unique way of interpreting astrology on my website at Sidereal Astrology.

Sun June 12
First Quarter Moon: Moon in Leo square Sun/Venus in Taurus: This aspect takes place just after midnight, so perhaps it’s influence will manifest in an important dream that helps you see what your next step should be in regards to a creative project, love interest, financial question. As I wrote in the opening statement, with the inherent tension of a First Quarter Moon, we engage with the next phase of choices and momentum happening in our lives. Are we are pursued by and pursuing our dreams, or taking a stand against someone else seeking to invade our territory? Sometimes that means we have to let go of an old habit, relationship, way of being (symbolized by the Moon) to further enhance the joys and health we seek to create (represented by the Sun).
Moon in Virgo opposite Chiron in Pisces: Later in the day, as the emotional Moon shifts into problem-solving Virgo, it will make a perspective-giving opposition to healing Chiron. You might undergo a healing crisis of some kind. May kindness see you through to the other side of feeling wounded, so as not to lash out at another, or yourself.
Venus enters sidereal Gemini: Our planet of love, art, money and what we most value, Venus, makes an annual entrance into curious, ambivalent, playful, humorous Gemini (just a few of this sign’s qualities). Expect an increase in experimentation in all facets of life. This transit can help you see all sides of an issue, so be open to a surprising choice or solution you will make in the coming weeks.
Mon June 13
Neptune turns retrograde till November 20: This celestial event can call forth important dreams, both from the dreamtime, as well has what you long to create next in your life. Perhaps you are already clear about what that means for you, so now you begin the work of sorting and sifting those ideas, stuff, relationships (including the most central of all relationships, the own you have with yourself), that no longer serve your old self, and set in motion strong, clear new directives pouring forth from your heart’s vision and mind’s eye. I know I harp on this point, but such is is gift of 2016, which adds up to 9, which means “end of a cycle, beginning of a new”.
Venus in Gemini square Chiron in Pisces: There is an opportunity to heal a wound or face your own vulnerability through honest conversation. There can be a confusing tension between your mind and your heart. Probe this dilemma so eventual clarity can arrive.
Vesta in Taurus square Neptune in Aquarius opposite Saturn in Scorpio: Vesta speaks to being able to be super-focused, yet this square might bring up a feeling of being scattered, unable to focus. It’s the paradox of squaring spacey, imaginative Neptune. Seek out information to help you focus the power of your imagination, visualizing what you want to see happen eventually in this physical dimension. You may need to sort out a financial issue with a friend.
Tue June 14
Sun enters sidereal Gemini: This month long transit sparks travel for some, new intellectual studies and reading for others (another kind of journey). Gemini can be both polarizing or infinitely curious. More deceptions and outright lies will be exposed, especially on our political stage.
Moon in Virgo opposite Ceres/Uranus conjunction: The rare Ceres/Uranus conjunction symbolizes breakthroughs that are happening on a regular basis surrounding the environment, our food supplies, women, children and animals. Today’s hard-working Virgo Moon encourages you to do your part in seeking alternative solutions that really solve the problems at hand. We have so many radical new tools at our disposal. Research and apply those options today.
Wed June 15
Moon/Juno conjunction in Libra: Always a relational aspect, this monthly alignment of the emotional Moon to the asteroid of our key partnerships, Juno, tends to create important conversations and a desire for bonding. Some decide to choose peace at any price, others deepen in a more honest intimacy, or decide to part ways.
Thu June 16
Moon in Libra: Today is a bridge day between to tomorrow’s more important aspects. The diplomatic Libra Moon makes a happy trine to optimistic Jupiter and stimulating sextile to imaginative Neptune. Practice your innate powers to create your world as you want it to be. Make your argument to another one that brings your adversaries around to understanding and appreciating your point of view. Speak to their higher angels.
Fri June 17
Saturn in Scorpio square Neptune in Aquarius: This historic turning point aspect furthers the cosmic upgrade of our collective ideals and dreams of what is possible. This aspect assures us that the whole of society is examining that question, and coming to differing conclusions. It is a time of great disillusionment for many, as well as great hope and possibility. This aspect will complete on September 10 this year.
Consciously uncouple with aspects of your old self that you no longer serve you. Forge a new relationship with yourself, your beloveds, your community based in a common good and collaboration. Saturn knows, this isn’t easy, to do the hard, courageous works it always takes to make our world more compassionate, creative, caring for all. But Saturn also gives us greater endurance than we ever imagined we had. Exciting times.
Moon/Mars conjunction in Scorpio: This fierce and activist aspect is both volatile and combative, as well as driven and focused to get the job done. It calls forth the active expression of some deep truth, and a desire to stand your ground.
Venus in Gemini trine Juno in Libra: Counter to the above aspect, this socially gracious and peace-making alignment assures good manners and humor as we belt out our truths.
Mercury in Taurus square Pallas Athene in Aquarius: This aspect forms strategic alliances and is excellent for making plans and turning point decisions.
Sat June 18
Moon/Saturn conjunction in Scorpio opposite Mercury square Pallas Athene: This is an aspect of manifestation, encouraging you to work hard today on finishing up projects, deal with financial questions, decide how you can fund a budding project, trip, or gift. Sometimes the monthly Moon/Saturn meeting sparks a momentary sense of feeling down, or just plain serious, like a thunderstorm taking hold of your soul. That can be a beautiful thing if you go with it.
Sun June 19
