First Quarter Moon
“Llama Trail” photograph by Lyn Dalebout
This week’s astrological energies might, just might, give us a small rest between the intense waves of recent weeks and next week’s full-on Full Moon. Even these Star Signposts are a bit abbreviated. Take some needed rest time, observing and absorbing the momentous tidal waves we are riding, all together.
The most important news this week is Jupiter turning retrograde February 5 until June 9. This is a very key turning point our planet.
This is a photograph from a favorite walk of mine in Sedona, Arizona. I amped up the color, because it looks more magical, and to mirror how w, just like all of Earth, are a stunningly beautiful rainbow tribe of diversity. We have much more power than we often think we have to ensure history keeps moving in the right direction. May you stay activated, motivated in ways that bring you joy, while also pausing to recuperate when your body/mind/spirit advise you to do so.

Here’s a list of the First Quarter Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza ~ www.lunarplanner.com
“The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Now is the time to drop all hesitation and take the steps to move forth on what you were inspired about…it is time to now participate in trust and knowing. Trust in the process. Demonstrate this trust in physical action and you will be supported. This time is stressful or traumatic only if action is ignored. Simply, this phase is a time to work.”
Note: I write my posts according to the Lunar cycles, posting on the New, First Quarter, Full and Third Quarter Moons. If you to work with and within the natural flow of time and supportive cosmic energies, your life will flow with more ease and grace. My interpretations and predictions are based on the true sidereal astronomical alignments. You can read about my unique way of interpreting astrology at this link: EarthWord SkyWord sidereal readings. Even NASA is onboard now with the sidereal zodiac!

Fri February 3 – Sat February 4
First Quarter Moon: Moon in Aries square Sun in Capricorn: The highly energized Moon in Aries makes an action-oriented square to orderly Capricorn. Frenetically organize your environment so you can leave work early this Friday.
Venus in Pisces square Juno in Sagittarius: The planet of self-worth, love and money (Venus) makes a decisive square to the asteroid associated with our beloveds and key colleagues (Juno), leading to discussions about feeling valued in a relationship. It’s a perfect day to proactively ask for a raise.
Mercury enters sidereal Capricorn: Mercury, our planetary ruler of ideas, communication and communications systems makes it’s annual move into organized, productive Capricorn until February 22. This can help you feel more clear and direct in your thinking, help you work on taxes, or upgrade your retail/communication systems.
Sun February 5
Jupiter turns retrograde: Our largest planet, Jupiter, symbolic of abundance and expansion, turns retrograde near midnight until June 9. This marks a turning point for our planet, especially in regards to our social alliances and dreams for a better world. Be very clear today about what you have been calling forth since this New Year began, and become even more precise about your goals going forward. Then you can more successfully use the retrograde period for research, outlining the plan, writing the draft of the book. Allow yourself to be guided, always, by your wisest true Self. This is a time of taking unprecedented leaps of faith based solidly on the certainty that you are the master of your fate, the dreamer of your destiny, the creator of your joyful fulfillment. Jupiter brings confidence to us, so if you have self-doubts, use the retrograde period to brush up on your manifestation magic so you can clear those old ghosts forever.
Moon in Taurus sextile Mars in Pisces: This early morning aspect supports a relaxing, sensually-pleasing morning experience as both the signs of Taurus and Pisces appreciate slowing down to enjoy and absorb the beauty and wonder of life’s bounty, be that a meal, a spiritual service, a slow ski or walk with the dogs by water.
Mon February 6
Vesta in Gemini square Jupiter in Virgo: Aspects to Jupiter involve expanding into new possibilities with an optimistic attitude. However today’s tense square to focused Vesta can make you feel nervous about what you know you need do next. As the Year of the Yin Fire Rooster councils “take calculated risks”. Don’t push yourself further than you are currently willing to explore.
Moon square Chiron opposite Saturn: This combined aspect creates a more serious tone to today, encouraging focused conversations, raw honesty, emotional vulnerability. It’s also good for study or researching travel plans.
Tue February 7
Mercury in Capricorn square Ceres in Aries: This can lead to discussions about rules/privileges you are setting in regards to your children. Restaurant owners or workers may need to establish new rules of order. Check in on an elderly friend or take them out on an adventure today so they can remember their always-present youthful vitality.
Moon in Gemini square Mars in Pisces: As Mars is currently floating through watery, imaginative Pisces, music might be calling you more, or swimming or the need for longer rest periods to recharge your worn-down batteries. Today’s writerly Moon in Gemini can produce great results for writers, or for writing a proposal to fund a creative project.
Wed February 8
Moon/Vesta conjunction in Gemini: The focus and pace of writing and conversation is accelerated, amplified with this aspect. Bookstores and libraries are a-buzz with increased business. People are more direct, even combative, about sharing their opinions as the emotional Moon opposes piercing Pluto and squares radical, revolutionary Uranus.
Thu February 9
Moon in Cancer opposite Mercury in Capricorn: Today you might choose to organize your home environment or feel torn between staying at home or going to work/school. Pull out the cookbooks (Moon in Cancer loves to nurture via food) and get organized about meal planning.
