The Lizard Oracle
“Old Man Lizard” by Lyn Dalebout
I’m changing it up this week. It’s fitting as eclipse season is upon us again. Time to break with habitual pattens that are dying to die anyway. With the divine supportive pressure of the eclipses, we can more readily make huge shifts, releasing outworn skins and lives. It’s actually unavoidable.
Another reason I am altering the traditional format of my Star Signposts this week is, truthfully, I am exhausted and in grief (yet also oddly energized) having spent the last three weeks helping beloved Dad let go of this earthly life. Below is the poem that emerged from this core turning point in my life.
The poem below carries the essential message of these long-range unfolding planetary evolutionary Fields, especially the momentous Uranus/Pluto square from 2012-2015. This post might be a stretch for some. Some of you may see the old man’s face on the top of that Lizard’s head, or not. In our family, we all have vivid imaginations. I trust and honor the oracles of nature when they mysteriously appear, always bringing the perfect message at the perfect time. Maybe we don’t need to know who is actually channeling the message. The point is to listen and trust what is heard.

I am truly blessed to have had a father of such loving heart, creative vision, contemporary hip. His favorite song was “Horse with No Name” by America, which we would listen to each weekend as he drove us up to Alta, Utah to ski our brains out so we could return to school and function during the week. As the pioneer in American ski boot design, he was the visionary inventor of the DaleBoot USA ski boot, launching the revolution in custom fit boots, with patents on cutting edge technology and designs. He designed and built our exquisite futuristic family home in 1957 beneath Mt.Olympus in Salt Lake City, Utah, based on the designs of Frank Lloyd Wright. As he completed this life in Sedona Arizona, the medical staff shared these insights: “Your Dad was feisty, but always kind and a gentlemen. He is a medical anomaly (their word of miracle). He should have passed within two hours of taking him off blood pressure meds, yet he lived for two more days.” Dad would have liked being called an anomaly. As he lived in life, so he did in departing this life. He gave my sister Jan and me the gift of witnessing his extraordinary vitality exit each cell of his body. His great will to live had to now be turned in the other direction. It was miraculous to witness. Thank you Dad for showing us how to live with full tilt will, joy, following our heart lines with eternal optimism. His last words spoken were these: “Let’s stay positive dear”.

Here’s Mel and here is the poem.

The Lizard Oracle
For Mel Dalebout~ 8/10/1927~3/31/2014
standing at the hospital window
as my Father’s transition approached
a small Lizard appeared
still on the outside sill
a sudden shift of focus
a surprise in the midst of loss
an animal other witnessing me
assisting me as I was assisting Dad
as I observed this resting Lizard
who posed in the evening sun
he presented a shedding skin
I opened to receive the teaching
~~~
go slowly
into your new life
allow change inevitable change
to come to you
go slowly
into your next life
allow evolution inevitable evolution
to unfold within you
watch in wonder
as the shedding of
an uncomfortable skin
now sets you free
peel away
one layer at a time
as you are pulled
by the greater entelechy of you
watch in wonder
as an old skin departs
a reborn you
new secrets revealed
trust the certainty of shedding
no losing
nothing lost
no gaining
nothing gained
just a simple shedding of a former time
be re-sourced
you are brought back to Source
that deep universal well
at the bottom
of every being
of everything
Open slowly
to your new life
allow change
inevitable change
to come
through you.
Love you Dad. Lynno
