What desires and longings were awakened within you during the previous Eclipse Cycle? Now, under the auspices of auspicious Comet Neowise, in this SolLunar Cycle where Sun and Moon hook up in sidereal Cancer exactly opposite form-giving Saturn, we can concretize—Saturn–what we care about and want to nurture next—Cancer. Saturn is associated with melancholia that comes from thinking nothing can change. Instead we realize we can no longer procrastinate and must make decisions about what to do next. It’s time to give birth. Push through the tendency of sluggishness or inertia, which was fine to indulge in the past weeks when we needed deep rest to stay healthy in this strange, limbo-like time in history.
Our holy Sun and Moon meet up in an auspicious part of astronomical Cancer. Here are a few takeaway tidbits from the ever-wise, Nick Anthony Fiorenza in his monthly Lunar Planner: “This New Moon resides in one of most favorable areas of the zodiac, which is exceptionally strong and emotionally well-balanced. It imparts maternal, protective, beneficent, expansive, and ambassadorial qualities. It inspires us to believe and trust in magic and miracles. It also emphasizes selfless allegiance to a greater cause, purpose, or goal. Ridding ourselves of negative thoughts, feelings, and energies is emphasized, and seeking that which is calming and inspirational and that brings prosperity.”
Other key events in this Cycle include a dynamic Full Moon in sidereal Capricorn/Cancer on August 3 right as Mars squares Jupiter. On August 5, Venus aligns with the North Lunar Node conjunct Polaris, our north star of great wisdom brought down to Earth. In another fierce pairing, Mars squares Pluto on August 11. And Uranus turns retrograde on August 14 until January 14, 2021.
May you stay steady and strong. Be sure to make time for extra special care of you and your beloveds during this season of nurturing Cancer.
Thank you, dear friend, Victoria Blumberg, for the use of your exquisitely beautiful photographs of flower friends, perfect for these days of summer. In Beauty, all will finish.

New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Cancer
“Flower” by Victoria Blumberg
Here is a brief synopsis of the New Moon characteristics from my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his LunarPlanner:
“Beginning the Sprouting Phase of the Lunar Cycle, a new theme emerges, a new idea or concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation to go within self and listen.”
Mon July 20
New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Cancer: Sun/Moon in Cancer opposite Saturn in Capricorn: What desires and longings were awakened within you during the previous Eclipse Cycle? Now, under the auspices of auspicious Comet Neowise, in this SolLunar Cycle where Sun and Moon hook up in sidereal Cancer exactly opposite form-giving Saturn, we can concretize—Saturn–what we care about and want to nurture next—Cancer. Tue July 21
Moon in Cancer trine Mars/Chiron in Pisces square Uranus in Aries sextile Juno in Virgo: This complexity of dynamics brings challenges in our interactions with others as well as healing gifts. It’s a good day for therapy sessions with key partners as the private Cancer Moon is willing to share deeper feelings in what it perceives is a safe environment. Fix or improve things at home or join hearts and hands with others regarding a cause you care about deeply.
Wed July 22
Moon in Leo inconjunct Saturn in Capricorn: The sign of Leo represents children and Capricorn represents adults. Taking care of responsibilities butts heads with the desire to play and be silly. It is a good for creative problem-solving or adding a beautifying touch to a project underway.
Thu July 23
Moon in Leo opposite Ceres in Aquarius square Venus in Taurus trine Uranus in Aries: These astro-relationships highlight art and co-creating in community. Collaborations find breakthrough solutions. Revolutionary art finds new expression or financial backing.
Fri July 24
Moon in Virgo trine Saturn in Capricorn: Under this refining, hard-working aspect, much is accomplished and re-organized for better functioning, including your current health regime.
Sat July 25 – Sun July 26
Moon/Juno in Virgo square Mercury in Gemini opposite Mars in Pisces: Beware of communication challenges as tempers run short and unexpressed conflicts boil over. Collective voices of activism seek expression. Use this energy athletically to challenge yourself or with others to achieve astounding success.
First Quarter Moon
“Intimate Flower” by Victoria Blumberg
Here’s a brief synopsis of the First Quarter Moon characteristics from my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his Lunar Planner:
“The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. This time is stressful or traumatic only if action is ignored. Simply, this phase is a time to work.”
Mon July 27
First Quarter Moon: Moon in Libra square Sun in Cancer: How do you create the right relationships or relationship dynamics for you? That’s one question this action-taking phase is asking. Is it time to seek new alliances, commit to going to therapy, or speak more openly and honestly to those you love or with yourself? Bring beauty and art alive—Libra—into your home and to your land—Cancer.
Venus in Taurus square Neptune in Aquarius: Both Venus and Neptune stimulate the impulse to make art and to seek loving and inspiring relationships. With today’s tense square, move out of an old rut or comfort zone and try something new. You may need to help someone, hopefully not begrudgingly, which adds a glitch to your day.
Tue July 28
Mercury in Gemini square Mars in Pisces opposite Pallas Athene in Sagittarius trine Moon in Libra: This strategic, relational aspect encourages you to work through conflicts. Seek advice about something you are writing or designing. Mars can initially act defensively when offered advice but Pisces’s go-with-the-flow influence helps us be more open to receiving the help being offered from a place of genuine care.
Wed July 29
Grand Trine in water signs: Moon in Scorpio trine Sun in Cancer trine Chiron in Pisces: Emotions that usually run deep rise easily to the surface for expression under this extremely positive trine. Visit water sanctuaries: float the river, bubble in some hot springs. Practice Qi Gong or Tai Chi and move your body in flowing sensual movements. Give gratitude this day, everyday, for the miracle of water that keeps this beautiful Earth—and us—alive in this garden of abundance.
Thu July 30
Mercury in Gemini opposite Jupiter/Pluto in Sagittarius: Communications can become hyper-polarized and or a turning point is reached as we move beyond perceived divisions. Expand your mind and release an old intellectual stance. Open up. Travel and learn something new.
Moon in Scorpio opposite Venus in Taurus square Neptune in Aquarius: You might feel confused between what you need and what you want in terms of money, love, sexuality. An old friend reappears and you two may consider romantic possibilities.
Moon/South Lunar Node conjunction in Sagittarius: This monthly pairing revives past options—South Lunar Node–so you can examine them through the eyes of your future self—Sagittarius. Should this stay or is it time to let go? Explore the fluidity and possibilities of your own past, present and future timelines swirling in new configurations.
Fri July 31
Sun in Cancer trine Chiron in Pisces: This softening aspect is a nice break after yesterday’s and tomorrow’s intensity of star weather. Enjoy others via helpful conversations or healing activities.
Sat August 1
Moon/Jupiter/Pluto conjunction in Sagittarius opposite Mercury in Gemini: This is similar to the energies of July 30 but now emotions are even more exaggerated. Here’s what I wrote with a few additions: Communications can become hyper-polarized and or a turning point is reached as we move beyond perceived divisions. Expand your heart and your mind as you release an old intellectual stance or emotional wound. Open up. Travel new emotional terrain and learn something new.
Sun August 2
Sun in Cancer square Uranus in Aries: This annual square of our Sun to revolutionary, out-of-all-boxes, Uranus, makes for a day of surprises or shocks, accidents, or a sudden shift of plans. Uranus’s influence increases our intuition and helps us stay awake to the momentary currents swirling in timespace, spacetime. Follow your internal guidance and instincts to avoid delays or missteps.
Moon/Saturn in Capricorn: This brings a more serious emotional tone in the early part of today, fading by afternoon.
Mercury/Vesta conjunction in Cancer: This pairing brings sharp focus to the mind. Cancer’s influence is more internal, however, so this can lead to obsessing on past conversations or old grievances. Move beyond cloudy ruminations to clearer thinking as you focus your mind inwardly with meditation or journaling.
Full Moon in sidereal Capricorn/Cancer
“Beauty Flowering” photograph by Victoria Blumberg
Here is a brief synopsis of the Full Moon characteristics from my friend and sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his Lunar Planner:
“The Full Moon marks the point of coition in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement, a time of celebration. The day just after the Full Moon is a time for the realization of the theme to emerge, culminating in the enthusiasm of the Full Moon. Relax and allow this realization to occur.”
Mon August 3 – August 4
Full Moon in sidereal Capricorn/Cancer: Sun in Cancer opposite Moon in Capricorn: The emphasis for humanity under these astrological signs is on family and societal spaces and responsibilities. You may feel stretched to the max, even a breaking point, as Full Moons amplify emotions. Another expression of this mighty Full Moon will be schools and parents deciding whether to return to the classroom this fall or explore long-distance options for the coming year. Current construction projects might hit a glitch or take a big step forward toward completion.
Mars in Pisces square Jupiter in Sagittarius: Both Mars and Jupiter unabashedly speak their truth, loudly and passionately, and both inspire leadership everywhere in all peoples. This aspect ingresses on Monday and is exact early Tuesday morning. Anxieties and turbulence build under this high-tension aspect so sleep may be challenging. Battles between factions erupt about how to proceed. Good advice in these chaotic times is to listen to differing points of view but ALWAYS think for oneself. As you reconnect with your inner compass and reliable guidance system, and engage your will—also linked to Mars and Jupiter–all will be well and you will succeed beyond your wildest dreams.
Wed August 5
Venus/North Lunar Node conjunct Polaris in sidereal Gemini: This annual crossing of Venus—your heart’s truth—and the North Lunar Node—your future self–is always a gift and brings clear messages and guidance if you are paying attention. It is exceptionally auspicious for our collective humanity that they align with Polaris, north star of great wisdom brought down to Earth in practical actions. Travel to a sacred and special location for you and listen, set intentions, and receive information intended just for you.
Moon/Ceres conjunction in Aquarius: This friendly pairing brings new acquaintances and collaborations based on mutual interests. Create sacred ceremony with others, even at a casual lunch, or attend a meeting and share your insights and talents.
Thu August 6
Moon/Neptune conjunction in Aquarius: This conjunction furthers yesterday’s openings and brings more cosmic and creative inspiration. You may be walking between worlds which can create spaciness and day dreaming, so ground your body while your spirit roams the heavens.
Fri August 7
Moon in Pisces square Venus /Lunar Nodes: You may get an intuitive hit to make a change in recent plans. Take time to listen and discern if it’s your fear trying to talk you out of something you genuinely want to do or your wise inner voice counseling caution.
Sat August 8
Moon/Chiron conjunction in Pisces: Tears and kind gestures flow more easily with this monthly meet up. As the Moon is also making a helpful trine to the Sun in Cancer, support is on the way in many ways if you are open to receiving it.
Sun August 9
Sun in Cancer sextile Juno in Virgo: This marks a positive turning between parties, be that a settlement, moving forward in a relationship, or meeting someone new who is of interest or just plain helpful.
Moon/Mars conjunction in Pisces: This monthly pairing is always super-sized passionate about whatever the activity is, be that an athletic adventure or competition, initiating something new, or being bossy and head-strong.
Mon August 10
Moon/Uranus conjunction in Aries square Mercury in Cancer: The erratic and breakthrough energy of Uranus can lead to sharper than usual communications with family members or a sudden change in plans. You might hear sirens today as accidents are more prevalent.
Last Quarter Moon
“Flower Friends” photograph by Victoria Blumberg
Here is a brief synopsis of the Last Quarter Moon characteristics from my friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his Lunar Planner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”
Tue August 11
Last Quarter Moon: Moon in Aries square Sun in Cancer: Begin to wrap things up or consider new alliances over the next seven days. Finish a project or make an important decision that involves housing, real estate, deciding on a roommate.
Wed August 12 – Thu August 13
Moon in Taurus trine Saturn in Capricorn: Use this productive aspect for earthly chores and activities, like paying bills, weeding the garden, or tending to and enjoying the needs of your body.
Mars in Pisces square Pluto in Sagittarius: This rare square is often extremely combative and literally explosive, so keep an eye on the news for such eruptions. Perhaps the influence of Pisces on Mars will bring healing waters to burning fires, be those internally raging within you or around you. Either way, it is time to align your personal ego will—Mars—with your higher divine Will—Pluto. Don’t act like a victim. Claim your mastery as a co-creator with the Universe. That is the uplifting way to use this very important transit.
Fri August 14
Moon/North Lunar Node conjunct Polaris in Gemini: Like last Wednesday on August 5, we get a second chance to be inspired. Here’s what I wrote about that, true again today with a slight change: This monthly crossing of Moon—your deep need—and the North Lunar Node—your future self–is always a gift and brings clear messages and guidance if you are paying attention. It is exceptionally auspicious for our collective humanity that they align with Polaris, north star of great wisdom brought down to Earth in practical actions. Travel to a sacred and special location for you and listen, set intentions, and receive information intended just for you.
Sat August 15
Uranus in astronomical Aries turns retrograde: Eccentric, do-it-your-own-way-in-your-own-time, Uranus, turns retrograde until January 14, 2021. Oftentimes, this turning point offers some clarity about what leap of faith is necessary for you to confidently move forward with plans, despite still feeling unsure. The body’s nervous system can feel agitated or hyper-electrical under Uranian events, so ground its lightning by taking a slow walk or a cool swim, practicing Qi Gong or Tai Chi or getting some energy-oriented bodywork.
Sun in Cancer trine Mars in Pisces quincunx Pluto in Sagittarius: This helpful trine to the Sun can open new doors surrounding recent investigations and questions about what steps to take next. This dynamic is great for camping adventures in the wild or for home and gardening projects on the domestic front.
Moon/Venus conjunction in Gemini: Beauty alert! Look for the crescent Moon and 100-karat Venus in the early morning sky. Gemini’s influence is talkative and brings helpful messages so listen to your spirit guides and their angelic insight, humor, even gabbing, in your predawn reverie. They love it when we converse unabashedly, openly, with them!
Sun August 16
Moon in Gemini square Mars in Pisces opposite Jupiter/Pluto/Saturn: Have fun in your travels today but exercise a tad of caution regarding physical or water activities under this volatile square.
Mon August 17
Moon/Vesta conjunction in Cancer: On this last day of this SolLunar Cycle, snuggle in bed longer, make a comforting breakfast or work from home today if the pull is there, all due to Cancer’s influence. Focus—Vesta—on home tasks, chores, projects or family relations in need of some tender loving care.
Blessed New Moon in astronomical Leo tomorrow~
