“Dance” painting by Jordan Potter
This electrifying, catalytic New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Libra opposite shocking Uranus begins the same day as the rare, teeth-grinding square between Mars and Saturn. Uranus’s influence encourages non-conformity, originality, spontaneity. Do you have enough of those qualities in your life or would you like to embody a more authentic you? Something to explore this month.
During this Cycle, Mercury will once again turn retrograde from October 31 through November 20, the final time for 2019! One aspect of any Mercury retrograde is to help clear out old thought patterns, encouraging new ways of viewing a situation. Sometimes when Mercury turns retrograde, travel is delayed or postponed, contracts need to be reviewed with exceptional care, technology glitches occur, machines and communications break down so upgrades can occur. Mercury remains retrograde until November 20.
Then on the action-taking First Quarter Moon of November 4, Mars and Pluto square off sparking conflagrations on many levels, not all bad by the way.
Notably, Jupiter leaves sidereal Scorpio and enters Sagittarius on November 9, a welcome gift for our planet. A dear friend recently wrote me about ‘buttoning up the energy leaks in our family’ as they prepare for a new little human’s arrival. Birth is coming and what must be protected or released for this new life to thrive?
This is an excellent way to describe what the previous year-long transit of Jupiter through sidereal Scorpio helped each of us to do in our own ways. Profound losses were experienced. Scorpio’s gift of diving deep, pressured us to get to the very bottom of what drives us or keeps us from succeeding in our lives in the ways we desire. Scorpio is often linked to financial matters and also the idea of being valued in the eyes of others. Have you felt under-valued and if so, what do you need to shift so you feel fully valued by your self and therefore, others? During this phase, you may have uncovered energy leaks, like old patterns that need to die so that the ‘new form of you’ can arrive and thrive. Button up those energy leaks by November 9. This may involve making healthier nutritional choices, relationship patterns, daily habits.
Lastly, witness the visually stunning and inspiring annual Venus/Jupiter conjunction on November 24 as the two brightest planets conjoin at dusk. Not to be missed!

New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Libra
Here is a brief synopsis of the New Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his LunarPlanner:
“Beginning the Sprouting Phase of the Lunar Cycle, a new theme emerges, a new idea or concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation or a quite walk—to go within self and listen.”
Sun October 27 – Mon October 28
New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Libra opposite Uranus in Aries: This New Moon is sure to lead to an electrifying and catalytic month-long series of events as both Sun and Moon oppose shocking Uranus on the same day as a rare square between Mars and Saturn. Uranus’s influence encourages non-conformity, originality, spontaneity. Do you have enough of those qualities in your life or would you like to embody a more authentic you? This is a month to explore new options, uncover hidden gifts, be your most unique self. Uranus can make for jittery nerves and anxiety, leading to accidents if one is off-balance or ungrounded. Discover the power of breathe and breathing practices to immediately calm the nervous system. This will be an exciting month ahead with many other key aspects occurring. Read on.
Mars in Virgo square Saturn in Sagittarius: This teeth-grinding aspect (literally) is rare and challenging. One can feel excessive frustration or exceedingly determined under its influence. This willful aspect is excellent for hours of athletic activities, logging many miles.
Tue October 29
Moon/Pallas Athene/Venus/Mercury conjunction in Scorpio: This highly-focused, unifying portal of energy brings order and organization to your world and aids in planning future events. Under Scorpio’s influence, financial issues might need attention. It can bring stunning clarity and insights involving intimate relationships or business partnerships. Mercury will turn retrograde on October 31, so you may be signing key documents before then or wait until after November 20 when Mercury turns direct again.
Wed October 30
Moon/Jupiter/Ceres conjunction in Scorpio: The Moon’s monthly transit through Scorpio can call forth increased motivation, unbelievable determination, strong sexual energy, and also, paranoia. This trilogy of planets may manifest as big financial news, high drama, power-struggles and shifts, especially on political and cultural stages. Some might feel very possessive about another or need to control or manipulate the circumstances around them.
Thu October 31
Mercury in Scorpio turns retrograde: Yikes, how is Mercury retrograde again, you ask? This cycle happens three times a year for three weeks at a time, so this is the last one for 2019. Sometimes when Mercury turns retrograde, travel is delayed, contracts needed to be reviewed with exceptional care, technology glitches occur, machines and communications break down so upgrades can occur. Taking a social media fast is one good option during Mercury retrograde if you are ready for such a restful break and reset of your mind and nervous system from information-overload. Mercury remains retrograde until November 20.
This time, the influence of Scorpio supports getting to the bottom of what’s really going on, uncovering the truth, expressing the wisdom one has accumulated over the years, even lifetimes. As Mercury is aligned with Venus and Pallas Athene (planets of creativity and creative thinking) this is a good period for working on a creative project, diving deeper into your subject matter as Scorpio likes to research things. For those of you involved in real estate shifts (a big part of 2019) sales and moves might finally happen if they’ve been delayed. This cycle circles back to the themes of the last Mercury retrograde which took place for most of July in sidereal Cancer, so re-visit what was happening then. Completions are at hand.
Venus in Scorpio sextile Juno in Virgo: Venus and Juno are planetary energies associated with love, relationships, our heartfelt friendships. Today’s harmonious sextile brings out appreciation and positive expression for those relationships. Gift someone and receive the gifts offered.
Fri November 1
Moon in Sagittarius sextile Sun in Libra: Ah, the lovely Crescent Moon is here again. Be sure to witness its beauty just after sunset. This optimistic aspect links adventurous exploration with a partner so engage in educational or athletic activities with enthusiasm and confidence.
Moon/South Lunar Node/Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius: Connections from your deep past may appear today or seek out people from your past. Commit to a course of study that involves something you once had interest in, like studying a foreign language.
Sat November 2
Moon/Pluto conjunction in Sagittarius square Mars in Virgo: This aspect is about purging. It can lead to powerful emotional outbursts or sudden physical symptoms. It increases endurance and helps you push through procrastination to get the job or creative draft done.
Mercury retrograde in Scorpio conjunct Pallas Athene: This inventive conjunction is excellent for design, writing, thinking more deeply about a problem. The retrograde aspect simply means forego others’s advice and listen intently to your wise inner knowing. In silence and meditation, let the solution and inspiration rise up to greet you.
Sun November 3
Moon in Capricorn square Uranus in Aries: Both Capricorn and Aries like to be their own bosses or guide others, even boss them. Tensions can arise today about how to proceed with your Sunday activities, like who will guide the rock climb. Capricorn is the consummate planner and likes to be in charge and Uranus in Aries requires freedom to make sudden, surprising bold moves.
First Quarter Moon
Here’s a brief synopsis of the First Quarter Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his Lunar Planner:
“The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Now is the time to drop all hesitation and take the steps. Trust in the process. This time is stressful or traumatic only if action is ignored. Simply, this phase is a time to work.”
Mon November 4
First Quarter Moon: Moon in Capricorn square Sun in Libra: Moon in Capricorn is ambitions and super-organized. With this action-packed Monday you can feel more determination to succeed or courageously face your responsibilities despite how overwhelming they might feel at times.
Mars in Virgo square Pluto in Sagittarius: This volcanic aspect can spark a few days of purging or conflagration as this rare, tense, militaristic square envelopes our planetary field, marking historical turning points in various conflicts. Battles of willfulness or power struggles are happening all around you, including within you.
Tue November 5
Moon in Aquarius square Mercury retrograde/Pallas Athene/Venus in Scorpio: Mercury retrograde has been doing its own secretive thing since October 31 and today’s square to the bring-it-out-in-the-open Aquarian Moon can spark a willingness to share what’s been simmering beneath the surface. Speak with a supportive friend or reach out to a group or community member you trust to help with decision-making.
Wed November 6
Moon/Neptune conjunction in Aquarius: Emotional honesty is easier in meetings or gatherings today. Socialize with friends or colleagues after work with this friendly pairing.
Thu November 7 – Fri November 8
Sun in Libra sextile Saturn in Sagittarius trine Neptune in Aquarius: This two-day event brings uplifting energy and inspiration (Neptune) and results (Saturn) to current creations, relationships and longer-range dreams. Show up, do the work, take the next steps and feel great success and satisfaction in your achievements.
Moon/Chiron conjunction: Given the positivity of the above aspect, this compassionate alignment helps us forgive the past and move forward with emotional healing and gratitude for what’s still to come.
Sat November 9
Jupiter enters sidereal Sagittarius: Such bright news in these challenging times! This planet of optimism, higher mind, wise guide and inspiring teacher enters futuristic Sagittarius for the coming year. Jupiter’s exalted astrological sign is Sagittarius because Sagittarius manifests many of the same qualities in its expression. This shift completes the deep-digging inner-work of Jupiter in Scorpio (see entry from my above introduction) from the previous twelve months and now encourages us to move forward outwardly for the next twelve months with confidence and renewed enthusiasm. I’ll be writing much more about the influence of this important shift in upcoming posts which manifests throughout 2020.
Mercury retrograde in Libra opposite Vesta in Aries: One aspect of any Mercury retrograde cycle is it helps clear out old thought patterns, ways of viewing a situation, like purging the closets of the mind. As Mercury opposes Vesta (focus and dedication) consider utilizing the tool of a daily meditation practice and discover the untold benefits you will experience. Having such a practice brings a stability to your nervous system that will make your life less stressful, or help you more gracefully navigate challenges.
Moon in Pisces opposite Mars in Virgo: Mars in Virgo offers its refined discernment in seeking solutions to emotional disturbances or imbalances. It’s good day to find your healthy balance between doing and non-doing (being).
Sun November 10
Moon/Uranus conjunction in Aries: Let spontaneity guide this day as the Moon makes a monthly alignment with shocking, experimental Uranus currently transiting through independent, forerunner Aries. For that reason, some may choose to go it alone for some part of today.
Mon November 11
Sun/Mercury retrograde conjunction in Libra: This illuminating event precedes tomorrow’s Full Moon and brings a brilliance and genius to the mind and mental activities. Conversations with others (Libra) are pin-pointed, inspiring and clarifying. Secrets are discussed that might eventually be revealed after Mercury turns direct on November 20.
Full Moon in sidereal Aries/Libra
Here is a brief synopsis of the Full Moon characteristics from my friend and sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his Lunar Planner:
“The Full Moon marks the point of coition in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement, a time of celebration. The day just after the Full Moon is a time for the realization of the theme to emerge, culminating in the enthusiasm of the Full Moon. Relax and allow this realization to occur. There is no need to force it as it surfaces on its own.”
Tue November 12
Full Moon: Sun/Mercury retrograde in Libra opposite Moon/Vesta in sidereal Aries: This Full Moon is as dynamic as was the Uranian New Moon and is very communicative and intellectual, activated by the influence of mental Mercury and focused Vesta. Use this sky gift for inspiration and productivity, using your mind in creative ways. Mercury also rules vehicles and communication systems so things can go haywire under the erratic energy of the sidereal Aries Moon. Move with caution, drive defensively.
Mars in sidereal Libra sextile Jupiter in Sagittarius: This is an aspect of celebratory activism and powerful leadership at its best. Just as Mars enters sidereal Libra, it makes a joyful sextile to exuberant Jupiter (which recently entered Sagittarius) and creates a burst of energy and sense of optimism. Take action on your passions, both the activities that bring you joy and the many ways you want to create a world that is a better, healthier home for all.
Wed November 13
Mercury retrograde in Libra sextile Saturn in Sagittarius: Formulate plans or give scaffold and structure to your new ideas. You might share a secret you will soon share with the world with close ally.
Moon in Taurus opposite Pallas Athene in Scorpio: This is an excellent aspect for financial planning or real estate matters.
Thu November 14
Moon in Taurus opposite Venus in Scorpio: This aspect brings financial gains or losses for some. It creates physical and sexual nurturing for some or a tinge of jealousy or envy for others.
Fri November 15
Moon in Gemini opposite Jupiter/Ceres conjunction in Sagittarius: This aspect is hyper-communicative, intellectually-expansive, manic and busy with its extraordinary energy and curiosity.
Moon/North Lunar Node conjunction in Gemini: This alignment occurs over midnight and into earlier tomorrow. Possibilities: late night conversations or an inability to stop a busy mind that is planning the future or processing the past.
Sat November 16
Moon in Gemini opposite Saturn/Pluto in Sagittarius: The mental chatter continues. You are an information-seeking missile gobbling up books, blogs, facts or busy sharing on internet platforms. And hopefully meeting up with others in the physical world as well for stimulating conversations. Airports and other zones of travel are exceptionally busy with some stress and intense interactions.
Sun November 17
Moon in Cancer trine Sun in Scorpio: This can be a stay-at-home kind of Sunday for some with the homey Cancer Moon. The trine indicates supportive connecting and emotional harmony within those family relationships although a quick midday square of Moon to Mars might spark a brief intensity of interaction.
Mon November 18
Mercury retrograde in Libra square Moon in Cancer: People may be more moody this Monday morning. As Mercury will soon turn direct, use this square to family-minded Cancer Moon to discuss plans you are about to set in motion or information you are getting ready to share based on what’s been brewing over the past three weeks. Cancer rules real-estate, too, so important decisions and revisions are happening today.
Last Quarter Moon
Here is a brief synopsis of the Last Quarter Moon characteristics compliments of my friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his Lunar Planner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”
Tue November 19
Last Quarter Moon: Moon in Leo square Sun in Scorpio: Children, parents or teachers can get more testy or attention-seeking with this aspect. Use this decisive square to look toward the future asking the Universe and your angels for help if you feel guided to do so. Leo likes to play so make time for joyful activities as well.
Wed November 20
Mercury in sidereal Libra turns direct: Blessed be, Mercury completes its final retrograde season for 2019. Within the last three weeks, perhaps you strengthened your concentration by releasing life-stealing thoughts or habits, and now your mind is a sharper tool, ready to now help you focus with greater clarity. Perhaps you contempled important shifts internally that you are now ready to share with the world over the next weeks as Mercury completes its shadow period, leading to major gains or revelations. Congratulations, you transited another Mercury retrograde transit!
Thu November 21
Moon in Virgo square Venus/Jupiter/Ceres in Sagittarius: The uplifting heavenly portal building over the next two weeks between Venus/Jupiter/Ceres will awaken more love-based and ethical actions in our civil engagements. Today’s creative square to fixer Virgo initiates practical solutions to implement those visionary, inclusive ideals.
Fri November 22
Moon/Juno conjunction in Virgo: This monthly pairing creates important interactions with the key partners, colleagues and friends. Virgo, as the problem solver, encourages joint therapy for those in need or make a date at a favorite healthy eatery. Special pet connections happen today as well.
Sat November 23 – Sun November 24
Venus/Jupiter conjunction in sidereal Sagittarius: This visually stunning planetary conjunction of our two brightest planets appears in the dusk sky just after sunset. Venus, the energy of love and art, merges with amplifying, optimisitic Jupiter, bathing our planet in a tsunami of creativity and heart-based actions. It can bring good financial news, a new lover, or a rekindling of harmony in current relationships. Experience its blessings as you witness this wonder in the evening sky.
Moon/Mars/Mercury conjunction in Libra: Libra seeks and creates beauty, harmony and justice in our world and this configuration brings a flurry of uplifting interactions or opportunities to make peace with others if need be. It also calls for fierce truthfulness in key relationships.
Mon November 25
Moon in Libra: It’s potentially a mild finale to this very intense SolLunar Cycle as the gracious Moon in Libra gently closes in on the Sun in Scorpio for New Moon tomorrow. Libra brings beauty to the world in all ways. Write special notecards to those you wish to thank, treat someone to a special meal, support an artist by purchasing their art.
Blessed New Moon tomorrow~
