“Iris” painting by Leigh Reagan Smith
NOTE: Teton and Yellowstone/Bozeman friends, I am heading north for my first visit this year so please email me if you are interested in meeting up for a sidereal reading, update or mentoring session.
Welcome to this New SolLunar Cycle which brings enthusiasm, inspiration, courage as both Sun and Moon align in independent and pioneering sidereal Aries. This is not a time to be timid in your goals or shy away from showing up with truthfulness and a fiery honesty in all your relationships. For these next four weeks, be forceful – full of force, strong and assertive – but steer clear of forcing others to believe what you believe, live your values or do what you think is best for them. Feel the surging spring energies throughout your body. Vitality, life force and light force are all part of Aries’s matrix. Live and shine that radiance so others are inspired by your example.
I rarely reread my Star Signposts. I write them as I contemplate the upcoming cycles, much like checking out future incoming weather patterns to assist me in my planning, but then I return to daily living in the flow of each moment. But there are days I get a sense to revisit what I wrote regarding events that happened or are about occur. I want to repost my entry from April 29 as Saturn turned retrograde. This isn’t a one day event but a longer range transit that governs and guides the events of 2019:
“Saturn turns retrograde in sidereal Sagittarius conjunct South Lunar Node: Serious Saturn turns retrograde on April 29 until September 18. Saturn is associated with giving birth in physical form to new conditions in our lives. We are constantly creating our lives, both through our conscious and unconscious choices. Saturn retrograde periods are when we make the hard choices to let go of what no longer serves us, and also establish new routines and choices, learn new skills that bring us greater fulfillment. This year in an extremely rare aspect, Saturn turns retrograde exactly conjunct the South Lunar Node, a point symbolizing the histories we have lived and now outlived, making this an exceptionally important turning point and cycle for the months ahead.”
Enjoy the month ahead!
Thank you, Leigh Reagan Smith, for the use of your beautiful, joyful paintings. Leigh is a devoted mother, filmmaker, artist, writer. Please check out her multi-talented artistry at Mountain FIre Media.
READINGS, MINI-READINGS AND MENTORING: Thanks for considering a sidereal mini-reading with me for $44 or a bit longer reading for $88, the numbers of living your Mastery on Earth. In these short readings, I discuss key personal transits that are happening for you in 2019 and beyond. I also MENTOR students individually or in groups/workshops who want to learn more about how to work with sidereal astrology in their own chart or with their clients. Send me an email if you are interested in those options, or a full Natal Map or Update. Thank you!
My interpretations and predictions are based on the sidereal astronomical alignments. You can read about my unique way of interpreting astrology at this link: EarthWord SkyWord sidereal readings. Even NASA is onboard now with the sidereal zodiac! In my daily posts, I include the astrological aspects for students of astrology, then give a basic interpretation of how these forces might influence your daily life. As you work with and within the natural flow of time and the supportive cosmic energies that each unique SolLunar Cycle brings, life can and will flow with more ease, grace and understanding.

New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Aries
Here is a list of New Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his LunarPlanner:
“Beginning the Sprouting Phase of the Lunar Cycle, a new theme emerges, a new idea or concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation or a quite walk—to go within self and listen.”
Sat May 4
New Moon in sidereal Aries: This New SolLunar Cycle brings enthusiasm, inspiration, courage as both Sun and Moon align in independent and pioneering sidereal Aries.
Sun May 5
Moon in Aries trine Saturn/South Node/Pluto: Sunday begins with this upbeat lunar alignment, great for energized exercise and changing up your regular routine. Later in the day, the Moon enters earth-loving Taurus which loves to saunter, moving at a slower pace to savor and take in all the delights of physical life.
Mars in Taurus opposite Jupiter in Scorpio: This tense energy has been building the past couple of days and continues for a few more days. This fierce and forceful polarity (it happens once every two years!) can manifest as standoffs, financial tensions, even spark militaristic actions, warfare or battles of the will between parties. Tread carefully. It can also bring greater abundance into your life or force you to commit to a more realistic budget to avoid future money challenges.
Mon May 6
Venus in Pisces square Lunar Nodes: Activation of the Lunar Nodes by any planet encourages releasing the past and stepping into the future. Venus governs our heart callings and values, personal finances and artistic urgings so move forward today regarding those areas of interest.
Moon in Taurus opposite Ceres in Scorpio: You might receive a physical or financial gift from an important woman in your life, or share your own wealth of experience with others by offering solid, practical advice.
Tue May 7
Moon/Mars conjunction in Taurus: This monthly volatile combo is determined to get its way or muscle through any challenge with a plodding dedication to succeed. It’s a great day for a long walk or hike.

Wed May 8
Mercury/Uranus conjunction in Aries: You might feel jittery, mentally jangled, unpredictable, even a bit out of control with this annual conjunction. It is also an aspect of original genius as new ideas enter our planetary field. Maybe you will be the person to receive such inspiration if you are paying attention. Beware of accidents as you steer clear of erratic behavior of others.
Moon/Juno in Gemini: This sociable, gregarious aspect is sure to bring fun and interesting connections today no matter where you are. It’s good for retail therapy or visiting a bookstore with a friend..
Thu May 9
Sun in Aries sextile Neptune in Aquarius/Moon in Gemini: This wonderfully friendly and accepting aspect is sure to create harmony amongst co-workers and is great for reconnecting with old friends or making new ones.
Fri May 10
Venus in Pisces square Pluto in Sagittarius: Venus/Pluto squares amplify obsessive tendencies making it almost impossible to let go of something you desire. This is why it is also good for focusing with determined certainty to manifest what you really want. Similar to the recent Venus/Saturn square, you might decide to go ahead with or forego options you had been considering.
Moon in Cancer square Mercury/Uranus in Aries: You might suddenly want to rearrange your space or clean out storage or cubby holes, making more space literally and energetically in your life. This includes releasing old ideas or thought ruts, thus allowing the new and the next to flow more easily into your life.
First Quarter Moon
Here’s a list of the First Quarter Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his Lunar Planner.
“The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Now is the time to drop all hesitation and take the steps. Trust in the process. This time is stressful or traumatic only if action is ignored. Simply, this phase is a time to work.”
Sat May 11
First Quarter Moon: Moon in Cancer square Sun in Aries: The theme of rearranging your home and discarding clutter continues with this taking-action phase of the Moon. You might desire to create more adventure (Aries) for your family, setting in motion a future vacation. Some of you may want to just stay home and to feel safe or rest (Cancer). Don’t let yourself be constrained if you feel the need for moving on.
Sun in Aries trine Saturn in Sagittarius: This positive aspect is excellent for teaching others things you are passionate about and accomplishing many tasks in an organized fashion.
Sun May 12
Moon in Leo trine Venus in Aries: This flirtatious aspect is courageous when it comes to love and creates easy, fun playdates for all ages!
Mon May 13
Grand Trine in Fire Signs: Moon in Leo/Sun in Aries/Pluto in Sagittarius: This alignment makes starting a new week more fun with less stress. It’s not about working harder, but discovering ways to make your work environment more enjoyable and beautiful. Heap gratitude upon your coworkers as giving thanks raises the vibration of any environment. Fire signs love physical movement and joy in the body so make sure that’s part of your mix today.
Tue May 14

Moon in Libra trine Mars in Gemini: This upbeat sociable aspect creates harmonious conversations and brings a surprising emotional openness to new ideas.
Fri May 17
Moon in Libra trine Juno in Gemini: Juno represents those who are our core beloveds, colleagues, current advisors and counselors. With Juno currently moving through sidereal Gemini for a number of weeks, some might be facing a choice about who to partner with or take the necessary time to research options. This aspect bodes well for negotiations underway.
Mercury in Aries trine Pluto in Sagittarius: This aspect gets stronger as day goes on leading to strong mental focus and endurance and late night investigative conversations.
Full Moon in Taurus
Here is a brief synopsis of the Full Moon characteristics that hold true for every Full Moon from my from my friend and sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his Lunar Planner.
“The Full Moon marks the point of coition in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement, a time of celebration. The day just after the Full Moon is a time for the realization of the theme to emerge, culminating in the enthusiasm of the Full Moon. Relax and allow this realization to occur. There is no need to force it as it surfaces on its own.”
Sat May 18
Full Moon in sidereal Taurus/Scorpio: This Full Moon is closely linked to mental Mercury, stimulating intellectual creativity and a busier than usual mind, keeping you up late, sorting and sifting through the night. Taurus (throat chakra) and Scorpio (sexual chakra) both govern the creativity of our voices and our bodies, thus making it an excellent Full Moon for dancing, singing, celebrating the beauty of Earth and all of our physical expressions.
Venus/Uranus conjunction in Aries: With this annual alignment, it is hard not to be experimental or spontaneous in choices linked to love, creativity, and being true to your heart in your most authentic way. Deep breathing is helpful today as this pairing literally electrifies the heart, causing heart palpitations or unusual rhythms.
Sun May 19
Moon/Ceres conjunction in Scorpio: The potency of yesterday’s Full Moon is still very much affecting our planetary field today. This strong aspect in Scorpio can bring heightened feelings of possessiveness, or you might need to help someone in a crisis or emergency. Reach out to a trusted confidant if you feel stressed.
Mon May 20
Moon/Jupiter conjunction in Scorpio: The intensity in our heavenly and earthly fields continues as the emoting Moon in probing Scorpio makes its monthly hook up with exaggerating, exuberant Jupiter. You might experience emotional swings, surging high tides or low tides depending on how the wild waters of Scorpio are manifesting in your life. Become a masterful surfer or boat woman as you navigate your emotional currents.
Tue May 21
Sun/Mercury conjunction in Taurus: This thoughtful aspect can bring grounding to our often overly-stimulated minds. Hopefully you have a daily practice like meditation, walking the dog, walking the Earth barefoot, moving the body in pleasurable ways for daily rebalancing. Or perhaps you will recommit to such a practice today. Use this aspect for looking at budgets or dealing with financial issues with an exacting eye.
Moon in Sagittarius opposite Mars in Gemini: This edgy early morning aspect can spark accidents or upsets if you are moving too quickly or speaking to forcefully to others.
Wed May 22
Moon/South Lunar Node/Saturn/Pluto conjunction in Sagittarius: opposite Juno/North Lunar Node in Gemini: I know, that’s a complex description of this aspect happening today. Translation? Read, study, become curious about something or someone under the wonder of this dynamic alignment. Also, polarities are amplified especially in terms of current political events. People are being pressured to know where they stand, or take a stand, or experience the consequences of their denial or indecisiveness. That can also hold true in your personal life choices. If you are traveling with others, conflicts may arise about the itinerary.
Thu May 23
Mars in Gemini square Chiron in Pisces: Gemini governs our sibling relationships so this aspect can create conflict or call forth greater honesty that can bring healing in those relationships. Realize, too, that we often we work out our unhealed family dynamics in our other relationships. This portal can precipitate a crisis that will produce positive results down the road. Like something breaking down because it was time to be fixed or replaced.
Moon in Capricorn trine Sun in Taurus: This monthly trine brings a flow and harmony to current life events/projects/relationships and is highly productive and results-oriented.
Fri May 24 – Sat May 25
Mercury in Taurus trine Pallas Athene in Virgo: What a lovely aspect this is for designing something, building something, communicating your vision to those around you. It is especially good for political strategists as Mercury is conjunct Aldebaran, a star linked to politics and specifically to the US House of Representatives.
Last Quarter Moon
Here is a description of the qualities of the Last Quarter Moon phase compliments of my friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza from his Lunar Planner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”
Sun May 26
Last Quarter Moon: Moon in Aquarius square Sun in Taurus: It’s a perfect day for a neighborhood yard sale or picking up roadside trash or for participating in other community-based earth projects as the Moon in collaborative, friendship Aquarius makes an action-seeking square to grounded, earthy Taurus.
Mon May 27
Moon/Neptune conjunction in Aquarius: It can be harder to focus analytically with your left brain but easier to use your right brain under this monthly pairing. Let your imagination run wild or focus on a creative project in a day-dreamy kind of way. Visit with friends, honor them, celebrate your friendships giving thanks for all the ways fellow travelers support you on our journey.
Tue May 28
Juno/North Lunar Node conjunction in Gemini: This feels important. Juno’s area of expertise involves all kinds of partnerships such as mates, soul-level colleagues, and identifies what qualities we seek in our key connections. This alignment in communicative, mental Gemini on the futuristic North Node can solidify new alliances with siblings, lovers, technology teachers, editors and agents, to name just a few possibilities. Let the Universe know what it is you are seeking in your relationships by creating a ceremony to send out those prayers and intentions.
Moon/Chiron conjunction in Pisces: This tender-hearted monthly alignment can spill out as shared tears with another or lending a helping hand to someone in need. Be willing to ask for help if need be.
Wed May 29
Mercury in Taurus square Neptune in Aquarius: This aspect can link up your right brain (imagination) and left brain (analytical) in a creative new configuration or you might feel a struggle between your aspirations and what you feel is practically possible. Explore the tension and reclaim your role as co-creator of your life path working in tandem with your Guides and the infinite support of the Universe.
Thu May 30
Juno in Gemini opposite Saturn in Sagittarius: You might solidify those new relationships I spoke about in the May 28 post, making a choice, even signing a contract.
Minor Grand Trine: Venus in Aries/Neptune in Aquarius/Juno in Gemini: This aspect in astrology is full of excitement, natural talent, joyfulness. This one is especially delightful regarding love interests and creative collaborations.
Moon/Vesta conjunction in Aries: This risk-seeking, focused aspect is great for athletic achievements or having the courage to start something bold and pioneering for you, even just starting a new routine.
Fri May 31
Moon/Uranus conjunction in sidereal Aries: Breakthroughs or breakdowns, accidents or awakenings are often linked to this monthly moment. Aries can be impulsiveness but also courageous. Engage in activities that calm or balance your nervous system.
Venus in Aries trine Saturn in Sagittarius: This helpful aspect brings new forms and greater commitment to emerging dreams, loves and desires. The fire signs of Aries and Sagittarius seek adventure and love to teach others or be an enthusiastic student.
Sat June 1
Moon/Venus conjunction in Aries: For you early dawn risers, you will see this always inspiring last crescent of Moon nestled near the diamond Venus. Contemplate the new beginnings in your life under Aries’s influence. Call forth your inner courage to do what brings you joy, releasing the rest as we complete this SolLunar Cycle.
Sun June 2
Moon/Sun in sidereal Taurus: This SolLunar Cycle closes up shop with the practicality and groundedness of Taurus. Perhaps a new foundation is taking shape in your life. You can work hard today or you may want to simply savor and appreciate the abundance all around you, voicing gratitude, giving thanks.
Happy New Moon tomorrow!
