Full Moon in sidereal Gemini/Sagittarius
“Networks” detail of painting by Alissa Davies
These days of linear time between the celestial New Year of Winter Solstice on December 21 and January 1, New Year’s Day of the Gregorian calendar, function like time out-of-time, shamanic time, in which we release the previous creative cycle of 2018 and prepare for the future cycle of 2019. We both gleefully celebrate with our beloveds and hopefully also find time for silence and listening to our inner Selves where all is born. I personally celebrate Winter Solstice as being halfway through the season of winter rather than being the first day of winter, which makes me joyful and optimistic of things to come.
I have changed the format of my posts for this two week period. That’s because I want to share the cosmic considerations that I was fortunate to write for the Sacred Nights of Winter Journal by Kim Marie. This insightful journal and practical process that Kim Marie has created is a helpful tool full of wisdom for those who wish to more consciously work with the potent creation portal we are offered as one year ends and a new one begins. It’s not too late to order the Journal so see the full description and order information at the end of this post.
Because the relentless shifts and changes always at play in our Universe/Multiverse, on Winter Solstice our illuminating Sun now aligns in visionary sidereal Sagittarius (not Capricorn like in centuries past). Take advantage of this cosmic gift and spend time re-visioning your life and where you are heading next while always, always, working to live more consciously in the NOW where past, present and future communicate and instruct you. The Full Moon in communicative, detail-oriented Gemini opposes the Sun, bringing guidance about how to practically ground your Higher Wisdom into daily living. The Moon also makes a harmonious trine with both Venus and Mars ensuring an energy of collaboration and kindness influence this powerful Full Moon.
In addition, on New Year’s Day, the annual Sun/Saturn conjunction creates a portending stillness and seriousness in our heavenly field.
Thank you, beloved Alissa Davies, for letting me post some of your latest work. I am intrigued with the organic nature of Alissa’s paintings. I feel she miraculously paints the biological complexity of the full range of human emotion, and so much more. The brightness and darkness of her work is perfect for this SolLunar Cycle. Here’s the link to view more of Alissa’s diverse art, including her sculptures and very fun kid truck paintings.

Full Moon in sidereal Gemini/Sagittarius
“Networks” full painting by Alissa Davies
Here is a brief synopsis of the Full Moon characteristics that hold true for every Full Moon from my from my friend and sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner.
“The Full Moon marks the point of coition in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement, a time of celebration. The day just after the Full Moon is a time for the realization of the theme to emerge, of what the activities of the first half of the lunar cycle, culminating into the enthusiasm of the Full Moon, are really about. Relax and allow this realization to occur. There is no need to force it as it surfaces on its own.”
Sat December 22 – Sun December 23
Full Moon in sidereal Gemini/Sagittarius
Grand Trine in Air signs: Moon in Gemini/Mars in Aquarius/Venus/Ceres in Libra
“Because the relentless shifts and changes always at play in our Universe/Multiverse, on Winter Solstice our illuminating Sun now aligns in visionary sidereal Sagittarius (not Capricorn like in centuries past). The Moon also makes a harmonious trine with both Venus and Mars ensuring an energy of collaboration and kindness influence this powerful Full Moon.”
Mon December 24
Moon/North Lunar Node conjunction in Cancer
“As the family-oriented, food loving, deeply nurturing Cancer Moon aligns with the futuristic North Lunar Node, you may be setting in motion new family traditions which might involve staying home and not traveling for some. Create new rituals of being together that honor changes that have take place within your family structure from the past year.”
Tue December 25
Moon in Cancer opposite Vesta in Capricorn
Moon in Cancer trine Jupiter/Mercury in Scorpio
Moon in Cancer square Venus/Ceres in Libra
“This day calls forth feminine, heart-based leadership to guide our world as the nurturing Cancer Moon opposes focusing, dedicated Vesta and Venus (heart, feminine) and Ceres (the Earth, caregiving) conjunct in fair-minded, harmonizing Libra. The helpful trine to expansive Jupiter and communicative Mercury ensures people will speak up about what makes them feel secure and connected in their homes, families, and communities.”
Wed December 26
Moon in Leo conjunct Regulus trine Uranus in Aries
Moon in Leo trine Sun in Sagittarius
“The artistic, playful, child-like Leo Moon aligns with the royal star of Regulus, the Heart of the Lion, synonymous with leading a life of integrity and following our heart’s truth. The helpful trine to experimental, shocking Uranus in Aries helps us take creative leaps of faith today. The flowing trine of Moon to Sun helps bridge our inner contemplations with our outer expressions and actions.”
Thu December 27
Moon in Leo opposite Neptune in Aquarius
Venus/Ceres conjunction in Libra
“This day is full of creative spark (Leo), spiritual inspiration and co-creative endeavors (Neptune in Aquarius) along with the focus and discipline (Saturn) to connect with our highest visions and dreams (Sagittarius). With Venus (beauty, love, art, values) exactly aligning with Ceres (caregiving, the Earth, food), concern for and nurturing of all things and beings is a prominent theme in today’s star matrix.”
Fri December 28
Moon in Virgo opposite Mars/Chiron in Pisces
“The Moon in Virgo seeks to heal, refine, and perfect all aspects of life and is devoted to serving others. Today’s opposition to activist Mars and Wounded Healer Chiron in spiritual, compassionate Pisces may spark healing crises or encourage us to take up causes we care deeply about, helping populations that are in need of our time, resources and attention.”
Last Quarter Moon
“Containment” painting by Alissa Davies
Here is a description of the qualities of the Last Quarter Moon phase compliments of my friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”
Sat December 29
Mars/Chiron conjunction in Pisces
Last Quarter Moon ~ Moon in Virgo square Sun/Saturn in Sagittarius
“The Last Quarter Moon of any SolLunar Cycle marks a turning point of leaving behind the past and looking toward future options. Today’s tense square of the healing, discerning Moon in Virgo to decision-making Saturn pressures us to choose wisely or a decision might be made for us. The Mars/Chiron union offers healing grace or can trigger a crisis that seemingly comes out of nowhere but that has been building internally for a while.”
Sun December 30
Moon/Pallas Athene conjunction in Virgo
Moon in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries
“It’s an excellent day to plan and strategize your next moves as the analytical Moon in Virgo teams up with Pallas Athene, the asteroid of wisdom and pattern-seeing. Shocks and breakthroughs are possible in our relationships, including the one you have with yourself, as the gracious and mediating Moon in Libra stands off with independent, freedom-loving Uranus in Aries. “
Mon December 31
Moon in Libra sextile Sun/Saturn in Sagittarius
“This day is full of positive communication, connections and harmony as the peace-loving Moon in Libra makes a stimulating, upbeat sextile to futuristic but also grounded Sun/Saturn conjunction in fired-up, optimistic Sagittarius. Be a practical visionary as your dreams take root in the Earth and flower in relationships of all kinds. “
Tue January 1 – Wed January 2 2019
Sun/Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius
Moon in Scorpio trine Mars/Chiron in Pisces
Moon/Ceres/Venus conjunction in Libra
“The annual Sun/Saturn conjunction is often a day that is serious, manifests as severe challenges or helps us be extremely focused to accomplish some goal. The delving, investigative Moon in Scorpio makes a helpful trine to healing and activist Mars/Chiron, ensuring the truth comes out or many are supported on their healing journey.”
“A profound portal of beauty, love, and harmony greets the New Year as the Moon (what we need), Venus (what we want), and Ceres (what nourishes our beings) all line up in peace-making, justice-seeking, art-appreciating Libra. Spend time doing tasks or sharing time with others that bring joy, appreciation, gratitude to your heart. You can physically witness these planetary jewels just before sunrise on January 1, surely a cosmic gift and benevolent oracle for 2019.”
Thu January 3
Moon/Jupiter conjunction in Scorpio
Mercury in Sagittarius square Chiron in Pisces
“As the deep-diving, controlling, intuitive Moon in Scorpio aligns with amplifying, expansive Jupiter, things get exaggerated and intense. Over-the-top emotional encounters, an exuberant drive or obsessive need to get lots done, and a need to break free of being controlled by others are options. The tense square of Chiron (healing or wounding) to Mercury (thoughts and speech) makes us feel exceptionally vulnerable or extra-sensitive to other’s impressions.”
Fri January 4
Sun in Sagittarius sextile Neptune in Aquarius
Moon/Mercury conjunction in Sagittarius trine Uranus in Aries
“Inspired creativity and collaborative community abound as visionary Sun in Sagittarius forms a happy sextile to rainbow-tribe Neptune in Aquarius. Emotions (Moon) and thoughts (Mercury) merge into a focused heart-mind that is inspired by original, eccentric Uranus to do good works in the world.”
Sat January 5 – Sun January 6 – Posting New SolLunar early as part of the completion of Ephipany
Balsamic Moon/Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius
Venus in Scorpio trine Chiron in Pisces
New SolLunar Cycle in Sagittarius
Moon/Pluto conjunction in Sagittarius
“On this last day of a completing SolLunar Cycle, the Moon has gone dark as it once again merges with the Sun. This phase, called the Balsamic Moon, suggests rest and reflection are wise activities as you honor completions. Today’s Moon/Saturn pairing is serious, even depressive for some. Allow yourself some ‘down’ time, deepening time. With Venus trine Chiron, be kind to yourself and spend time in silence, listening and simply being.”
“What a miraculous galactic gift it is to have Epiphany occur on a New Moon, the beginning of new SolLunar Cycle taking place in the visionary, futuristic, optimistic sign of sidereal Sagittarius. As the newly hatched Moon quickly conjuncts transformational, powerful Pluto, the need for regeneration down to the cellular level is part of today’s mix. ‘Change or die’ is one of Pluto’s many mottos so your rebirth might also involve a death of some sort. Pluto always helps us discover our core beliefs, our true power, our deepest vitality.”

SPECIAL NOTE: I am honored to have contributed to the Sacred Nights of Winter Journal by Kim Marie. This insightful journal and practical process that Kim Marie has created is a helpful tool full of wisdom for those who wish to more consciously work with the potent creation portal we are offered as one year ends and a new one begins. Here is a brief description and link, and please read full description at the end of this post.
From Kim Marie: “During this darkest time of the year, when the outer world appears to sleep, our inner life awakens. Working with the Sacred Nights of Winter, also known as the Holy Nights, Nights of the Mothers, or “Time Between the Years,” is a potent way to connect more deeply with your awakening True Self.
The 5th edition of my Sacred Nights of Winter journal is now available for pre-order. The journal is designed to support you in not only cultivating your inner life, but also in creating a personalized map to guide you through the coming year’s opportunities and challenges.
I’m thrilled to share that this year’s journal will include “signposts” from sidereal astrologer Lyn Dalebout (www.EarthWordSkyWord.com) which offer energetic expressions of what the stars are communicating with us during each of the Sacred Nights of Winter.
The theme this year is Turning Into Your Self, and will offer a journey of understanding what hinders us from being our True Self, and what supports us in embodying our True Self.
For those interested in gaining clarity and direction, deepening your soul life, and having quality stillness, reflection and restoration during the holiday season, this journal will be a very helpful tool.
