“Lion in the Wind” by Sue Cedarholm ~ Leo the Lion, constellation of heart and creativity
In honor of Venus’s five year celestial cycles, here is Part Five, the completion of my contemplations on this transformational Venus retrograde cycle. She is now the morning star. We awaken starlit to face the day with this reminder: do what you love, be what you love, love who you are, love who you love. I recall this sage advice: when puzzled sometimes about how to proceed in the complexity of human relationships ask yourself, what would Love do?
I have been thinking about pace these past weeks. Pacing oneself, going at one’s pace, working at your own pace, or anxiously pacing back and forth due to a hidden anxiety, probably because you are going against your own pace. By time Venus went direct on November 18 2010, I felt/heard an inner imperative not to be ignored or set aside, as I may have in the past: you must find and accept the pace at which you want to live. And don’t compare yourself to anyone else in finding your pace. Vibrant health will be the outcome, joyous days will be the result, and you will feel a return to child-like wonder and trust. Okay, sounds good. Sounds like what I had been missing for a while.
A poem I wrote years ago comes to mind (https://www.earthwordskyword.com/poetry.html) called Thirteen Moons, written during a time in the late 1980’s when I first encountered the teachings of the Mayan calendar which honors the natural lunar cycle of time rather than the arbitrary twelve month Julian calendar.
Thirteen Moons
Thirteen moons.
Only twelve months.
Something’s been lost,
something’s been lost.
Thirteen perfect moons.
Twelve uneven months.
Something’s been changed.
something’s been changed.
Tampered time.
We’ve forgotten its radial nature
shooting out in all directions.
Like light,
time does not confine
but shines through us all.
Time is money or
time is art.
Time serves art,
money should serve time,
Art serves all.
Everyday’s
a field of play!
Serve your time, serve your art.
Thirteen moons.
Twelve months.
Something’s been lost.
Find thirteen perfect moons.
Find your Art.
Venus in an individual’s chart or as a quality of humanity is all about living in the art and heart of your life, whatever, wherever that takes you. As an astrologer, I can see how some people are designed to focus their creativity in narrow ways, others do best with a vast and varied palate of life experience. Some are designed for speed, stimulation and competition, while others like me are more saunters seeking silence…the best food on Earth to me is a wide open day just to walk, listen, write, no appointments please, no structured time just time to breathe in wild nature…ah how to pay the bills with such a temperament? It all seems to work out as I am convinced poets can make good money, selling the wares of their wandering and portfolios of pondering.

Venus, as astrological ruler of personal finance, also describes what we individually value, the idea being we spend our money on what has meaning for us.
I have a bone to pick in this post, especially after the rhetoric of this election season with the huffing and puffing about how to clear our national deficits. During times when the suffering of families is exponentially increasing day by day, the programs that once helped people in need are being de-funded, and titans of industry create and mismanage disasters that are devastating whole communities, I am truly shocked to hear certain political leaders advancing the delusion that their wealthiest constituents need more money. That many, I add not all, of the richest Americans and banks feel entitled to MORE at this painful devastating juncture of the collapsing of dreams and livelihoods of so many of their fellow citizens and neighbors is utterly appalling.
Help me out: we need a new word to describe this kind of callousness, this new brand of cold-heartedness or no-heartedness that seems to be occurring in the halls of power of this outdated financial model.
As I once said, in trying to find a kind way to address my gripes about the Bush/Cheney agenda to friends of theirs: “They are very poor students of history.” Think French Revolutions and Falls of Romes. Hell, go back to Atlantis with the hubris and imbalances of power, unimagined unforeseeable global events and ecological disasters…here we go again! Bring it on! WAKE US UP, all of us, to see what’s really been going on with our financial systems. (Read my previous posts about the revolutionary Jupiter/Uranus cycle…more to come soon on the completion of that cycle in January 2011).
My hopes and prayers are that during this particular Venus retrograde, with strong financial overtones, she has worked her internal magic within the hearts of many of those fortunate enough to have resources to reinvent philanthropy, letting loose the loans and leading the way in financial innovations that have integrity. Instead of hoarding in hard times and running the risk of circling the wagons of their own impoverished tribes (an irony), they could launch revolutionary structures of support for an economy of compassion, and save their own souls in the process.

So how does this equation fit in your life= Everyday’s a field of play, serve your time, serve your Art. (Remember art is defined by me as doing what you love, what you know you were born to do, the art of being YOU.) Because I believe this is the REAL reality being born out of these hard times, how can we each take further risks and restructure our economy as an economy of art, of compassion, of environmental sanity? This emerging ingenuity has nothing whatsoever to do with how much money you make, or made, or inherited. Will the innovators of heart step forward? That’s you and me, as we each have the power to ask the mystery of the great Universe to support us in all ways in living our unique combination of love and meaning and creative contribution. We will be supported as we support and grow our art.
Imagine this: a rainbowed stream of endless creativity pouring forth from the masses, each cell of humanity alive and well, each person having the necessary support on all levels to create a world of their own choosing. Here’s the truth: despite what happens at the so-called top, we aren’t waiting for anything to trickle down on us. We are the innovators, the job creators, because we are making our own creative way. We are patriots of compassion, sharing our wealth of time and art, pursuing life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all.
I continue to place my trust in what these stellar cycles tell me: that love will win out in the end. Like Buddha, I place my hand on our mother Earth, and know, she is leading the charge. There is a protection always, as Jesus knows, that follows those who come from love for all, care for all, actions that benefit “the least of these”. That is the only currency, never to be hoarded, only to be shared. These are some of the whisperings that Venus spoke to me.
Solstice Blessings to you****
