“Wise Winter Moose” drawing by Kathryn Mapes Turner
Overview
Let us thankfully welcome 2025’s first New SolLunar Cycle aligning in visionary, optimistic astronomical Sagittarius conjunct Pallas Athene whose astrological attributes include love of freedom, honoring one’s unique creative wisdom, and the maestro of strategy and planning for the future. This vibrant energy launches us into the New Year with enthusiasm, embracing accelerated change with a passionate desire to keep evolving in our personal lives, co-creating with our communities, and shift our collective consciousness and humanity toward compassionate, ecologically-sound values, actions, projects.
Also happening in this Cycle, Mars, Jupiter and Uranus remain in retrograde, all turning direct after the next New Moon. This means we are still completing things that had our attention in 2024. This Mars retrograde in Cancer can pose challenges and bring new opportunities regarding family dynamics/history and home/real estate choices, including where you want to live. Globally, the challenges of war sadly continue with the possibility that at the end of this Cycle—done by the end of April—there are truces, perhaps even restoration of peace via new agreements as the next historical phase begins.
This quote deeply resonates with me especially as I embrace the promise of a New Year:
“We influence everything, we control nothing.”
From “Fluke: Chance, Chaos, and Why Everything We Do Matters” by Brian Klaas
This came at a time when I was pondering how much in my life is created from personal intention and how much is subject to way larger forces at work assisting me, what we might call the Divine Mystery, God, the Universe, the myriad names of Nature’s Mystery. Both truths are essential and link the notions of personal will and Divine Will in mutual honoring. As I cultivate my own vibration/intentional field to my highest potential and do my best, I also release the need to control outcomes, stay present, and give thanks for unknown blessings already on their way. May we all have countless blessings coming our way in this upcoming year and beyond as we have worked very hard to keep balanced and positive in challenging times.
Thank you, beloved friend, Kathryn Turner for the use of your drawings which mirror the calm, intensity and serenity of the winter season. Thank you especially for allowing me to post your work in progress honoring our Grizzly Matriarch, 399, who left us on October 22 2024. Please view Kathryn’s art here.
NOTE: When reading my daily entries, remember that the influence of each aspect is like a wave — it crescendos a day or two, sometimes a week, before it happens, crests on the day it is exact, then dissipates over the following days. People experience the transits of planets at different times depending on their sensitivity and life events.
Sidereal Astrology Mentoring and Readings
MY POSTS: My posts are based on the true astronomical alignments of the planets with the constellations, also referred to as the sidereal zodiac. This zodiac is energetically in synch with the forces of the Universe beaming down on us and thus mirrors extraordinary accuracy in understanding how transits are working with us. My mentor and colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza—now in spirit—wrote his seminal book, Introduction to Astronomical Astrology which I can now share for free if you are interested in learning from a master teacher
I use the phases of the Moon as the scaffold for my posts because the Moon functions like an energetic portal mediating between the heavens and our wondrous Earth. My entries are based on the aspects occurring each week as they crescendo, crest and dissipate over the course of their influence. As you work with and within the natural flow of time and the supportive cosmic energies that each unique SolLunar Cycle brings, life can flow with more ease, grace and understanding.
MY SERVICES: I delight in mentoring students — individually, with families or groups, via workshops and conferences — who want to learn more about how to use sidereal astrology as a helpful tool for insight, evolution, creativity and well-being. I offer speaking engagements for your gatherings or groups to understand big picture astrology events affecting us all. Consider booking a reading with me, either a Full Natal Map, mini-readings for $44 or $88 or my other offerings like the Relationship Map, Child or AdolEssence Map for your children or the Business Map which helps your team succeed and thrive in. I offer SHE Sessions: Self Help Energywork in which I teach you tools to create greater health and balance for yourself. My poetry book, Out of the Flames/Blue Bison Press, is available on my website. Thank you!
