If asked to give a job description for what I do, who I am, I might call myself an Earth Listener. That unconventional phrase seems to encompass all the various aspects of my professional life and chosen personal activities. I have been doing this since the day I was born. Earth Listener.
Yes, I am an astrologer. Yet the reasons I study the heavenly language and linkage is in the hope of finding a better way to live on Earth. That is what I help my clients and students with as well. Knowing your astrological signature can have immense benefit to you as to how to live a healthier, more joyful, creative, productive life on Earth.
My lifelong question: how do we embody our wisest spiritual self to our fullest potential here on Earth?

Thank you for bearing with my amateur iPhone photographs. I was graced with this EarthSky Oracle overlooking my hometown of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It is a visual symbolic image of my own inner landscape these days~that’s what an oracle is. Notice the black skies, the grey skies, the white hole with a whisper of blue. And of course the double rainbow arching over and blessing the land. It creates the feeling of a magical portal if only I knew how to step through. And the juxtaposition of wild nature and humanity embedded together, all one. The promise~this emerging rainbow reality, yet quick to dissipate with the next wave of weather moving in, constant change, unending shifts. How to navigate these shifts with some sense of grace and Grace? That is my desire.

The strongest record-breaking tornado hit near El Reno, Oklahoma on May 31, 2013, following the previous devastating tornado that leveled Moore, Oklahoma a week before at virtually the exact moment of the Uranus~Pluto square. I was stunned by the destruction and also the astrological timing.

I have been saying for a few years now that these planetary aspects aren’t manifesting as just external revolutions and events but are happening also as internal shifts, massively, quickly upgrading the very nature of who we are from both a biological perspective and a neurological one as well. It can be crazy making. What that means is you may feel at times like the equivalent of an EF5 tornado is swirling within you, tearing you apart, demolishing any sense of security you have previously had, even though outwardly your life might look the same. It is very disconcerting, unexplainable, yet very real. Nothing is stable, and that’s the truth, and it seems the only way to navigate the intensity is to stay focused on the present moment.
Even if your personal world has some level of calm and serenity, surely you are being touched by some level of the chaos in those surrounding you or in society at large. Or in the weather changes, or an asteroid barely missing us (yes that did just happen!) or when our life giving Sun sprays us regularly with disruptive spews of flares ~ http://spaceweather.com. CAUTION: PLANETS AT WORK: URANUS SQUARE PLUTO

Mine sure is.
I have often described the influence of Pluto as being akin to a Cosmic Backhoe. It shows up one day, out of the blue, unannounced, unasked for, and begins to dig up your yard, your life, your psyche. And Uranus, as the Great Awakener, functions often as sudden accidents, being struck by lightning, major anxiety or panic attacks, kundalini awakenings. And genius.
So when these two catalytic planetary fields square off, this has historically mirrored major evolutionary shifts for Earth and humanity. This cycle traditionally has involved tremendous pain and suffering as well as expansive shifts toward humanity finding greater acceptance and compassion for all. These holy Beings of Uranus and Pluto (to me the planets are Beings and Friends) herald change in the most positive sense. Acceptance and compassion for all: THAT IS THE WAY~THE EVOLUTIONARY DIRECTIVE~OF THE UNIVERSE.
When I realized that the intrusion and chaos that greets me each day as I navigate the major disruption of construction on my hometown streets of Jackson Wyoming was the perfect metaphor for how I have been feeling internally, I felt a huge sense of relief and release. OK, I can handle this. No need to fret or make up a big story or feed my suffering and drama or even feel angst. I am being destructed (released from my past) and being constructed (the good that awaits me) and I must find patience with the reconstruction (the eternal Now).
I feel I am being torn apart and excavated and redirected and ultimately restored to a new upgraded more durable form. All in good time. Be patient. And may I be kind to my fellow travelers as we all merge and mix and attempt to navigate this chaos. I am talking about you. Let someone go ahead of you. Wave, high 5, smile. We are all under extraordinary duress. None are immune. We are in this together. That can be a source of comfort in these disruptive times.
I often ask for daily guidance from the Animal Others by pulling a card from the oracle deck of the Medicine Cards by Jamie Sams and David Carson (http://www.medicinecards.com). I take these cards to all the classes I teach, for kids and adults alike. It is a fun and potent way to educate people about the Native American understanding of how our Animal Tribes can guide us, teach us.
Ask a question. Sit quietly, shuffle the deck, then pick a card.
In this instance I was asking, infinite wise Universe, this: I need help in knowing how to move forward in these times of such uncertainty. I feel at times, paralyzed and yet long to leap anew into this new emerging Field we have entered on Dec 22 2012. I thought everything would get easier once we entered 2013. Not so. There have been major challenges I did not imagine or expect. Help.

The essence of Antelope is Action, The essence of Ant is Patience
Antelope speaks:
You know the changes you need to make. Act Now. Antelope counsels action.
Ant counsels:
You are part of the larger collective but it is your individual act that will change the world. AND you must be patient with each doing their part. Ant counsels patience. But you must do your part. A mountain is moved one grain of sand at a time.
At first these seemed contradictory. Act, yet be patient.
I see. I get it.
Daily actions are required as we remake our world. Yet great patience is required for the new to take hold. We must not lose faith or trust in ourselves or in the larger Universal directive of LOVE. LOVE is our heavenly root and our Earthly home base. I know this. I know this in my bones. I decided to pull a third card for clarification. I pulled Crow.
Crow unites the two:
“Honor the past as your Teacher. Honor the present as your creation. Honor the future as your inspiration.”
Act and be patient. Time will tell.

The world is changing. Here’s proof. Recently the Republican governor of Idaho, Butch Otter, declared Idaho Health and Yoga Awareness Week. What? Yoga in the public discourse? In Idaho? Shock and awe. Now that’s visionary. That’s revolutionary. Bless him for claiming his Uranian nature and taking a courageous leap that surely benefits his people.
I leave you with this photograph. It is an imagistic reminder that the energy, meaning, purpose and point of this New World we are birthing is JOY.
Take daily steps that make you happy, bring you joy. And may we all employ geologic patience as this process or our own awakening unfolds, having faith in the long-term outcome.
