Beauty is everywhere, at all times. Beauty is ever present and available to remind us of the meaning of life, existence, the very purpose of creation. Especially now, I seek out beauty, in all ways, daily, hourly, to pull me through, honoring this truth and revelation, especially now, in these uncertain times. It is in the magenta wisp of an Anna’s hummingbird visiting my feeder, planting pansies in the winter desert light, and watching the dusty-rose sky brush of dusk on sandstone buttes, that I know life remains a miracle, wondrous, and at some level, all is well. The title of a book by my beloved friend, courageous activist, poetic writer, Terry Tempest Williams, often comes to mind: “Finding Beauty in a Broken World.”
The reality of beauty. I want to help create a world that is sustained everyday, in moments in beauty, a beautiful world, a beauty-filled world, a world where all people, animals, the Earth itself thrive in radiant form, health, vitality and joy. We need leaders that live this truth, embrace and exemplify this possibility, as do President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, and their beautiful children. The Obamas understand the higher purpose and calling of the United States of America. They embody and encourage us as citizens of this extraordinary nation to emulate that example, and to reach for a higher standard in our thoughts, words, deeds. We were completely blessed to have had the leadership of this scandal-free First Family of great integrity, wisdom and beauty for eight years. May they always be protected as their good work and long lives continue.
I am not naively hopeful about what we are about to face and fight for, with love and determination, in the coming years. But I do study and contemplate the larger galactic cycles enveloping this earthly plane of existence and I continue to place a fair amount of faith and trust in both the Earth to teach us, by whatever means, to be good citizens of Earth, and in the invisible Guides from the many unseen dimensions that are guiding everyone, fromdeep within the heart, about how to do the right thing.
I absolutely know WE have the power and inspiration to find our way through. We will protect what we love and value, be it our American democracy, the equality and safety for all the world’s Beings, our sacred American lands, the health of our Earthly home for the generations still to come. If we are, indeed, about to take this one step back in terms of respectable leadership, as part of the growing pains of America, then so be it. It will simply be false promise, an ugly chimera that will not stand the test of time. It will be our job to live, walk, create beauty, daily, in our broken world, so that our children will continue to thrive beyond these times.
