We have recently been immersed in a full moon eclipse -June 26- and a new moon eclipse – July 11. Eclipses create a disruption of the steady stream of Light – Moon covers Sun, Earth occludes Sun. Light, in any form carries information, as in cosmic information, which bombards our planet and influences us in ways that science is just beginning to understand. Or remember.
The ancient astrologer*scientists knew this and used this understanding in helpful ways as well as to make terrifying predictions. It seems fear and doubt are as much apart of our genetic coding as trust and faith. In many ways these scientist*astrologers were more attuned, and so enlightened about how the cosmic forces influence us than some of our brightest minds today. But history is shifting again and many curious souls are returning, one awakening at a time, to the knowledge and brilliance offered by the language of astrology. Eclipses are moments of opportunity to experience an energetic severing, sometimes brutal, sometimes with conscious choice, from your past. It seems the great Mystery is always trying to get us to live in the ever present Present and create a life of astounding creativity that each moment brings. If we are present. So I always celebrate eclipses as opportunities to do cosmic recycling, releasing patterns, habits, relationships with self or others, giving these over to the universal forces that will transmute the old as compost for the new. Composting releases dead or dormant energy to be reconfigured as new forms of nutrition. It works with your garbage, and it works with your emotional and psychological detritus as well. Like the natural biological process occurring daily of sloughing off the old cells and recreating the new cells, eclipses speed up this process. I also believe these latest eclipses are getting more potent each time they occur due to the acceleration of awakening we are creating at this time in history.
Ever here, ever present, ever new.
Even though I in no way think humans are designed like computers, I think there are helpful metaphors to be used to understand how these cosmic energies, articulated in astrological transits and alignments, are manifesting in this physical dimension.
Last year, I wrote about the Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron conjunctions as a spiritual “upgrade” of sorts. Similar to when you receive the messages for the latest improvement to your software landing on your desktop across the tubes of the internet.You are given a variety of options: you can choose yes, now, not now, or later, or alert me in a week, or, my personal excuse, procrastination. What if the new software messes up my old program? Better wait, play it safe with what works rather than rocking the boat, losing old stored information, crashing. As much as I know welcoming change is the key to healthy life, I can dig in, stuck in fear.
Many of these shifts of 2009 took place on the unseen levels, at the cellular level, sometimes manifesting in literal heart opening symptoms like a quaking heart, panic attacks, palpitations, and a sudden desire to hug an old enemy.The Neptune/Chiron transit continues through 2010 completing the upgrade of this universal heart opening, but Jupiter…signifying how society and social mores evolve in 12 year cycles…has moved on and is now in union with Uranus, planet of revolutionary changes and catalytic shifts. 2010 is the year where the shifts hit the planet.
Now that we have been “upgraded”, it is time for the “download” of hot new information from this Jupiter/Uranus conjunction. This will lead to revolutionary actions at every level of our society. This will by no means be easy on our systems, be they institutions, our bodies or mental stability. And if we somehow avoided the upgrade being offered in 2009, these new alignments can be even more chaotic and challenging. As these planets are currently in sidereal Pisces, a spiritual and emotional sign and ruler of the oceans there could continue to be large oceanic events like the Gulf oil spill with increased intensity for hurricanes, typhoons, and sadly, the ensuing suffering and compassion these events call forth. Due to the amplification of Uranus by Jupiter, increasing its effects exponentially, earthquakes, sudden storms, and lightning events might also increase.
Here’s how I am experiencing these shifting tides of in our planetary pools of consciousness. In a quantum shiatsu session the other day, my gifted practitioner spoke about smoothing out my energy field because it was rumpled and ruffled on many levels, like a fluffy baby magpie not yet ready to fly, committed, but clumsy.
This session validated my experiences of late. In wondering what was up with my sudden mood swings and shifts, one day clear and joyful, the next hour confused and lost, an image came to mind. Recall how when you are watching a TV program or an unclean DVD, and it starts to break up, break apart, faces melting, a dissolving disconnect happening leading to a temporary loss of a clear picture? Then just as quickly, order returns, reality meshes again to clarity, and you can keep watching the program again, back to normal. I call those moments of disintegration “pixel panic” because it can feel terrifying and intense like nothing makes sense. It can literally feel like the world is falling apart around you. But seeing the humor, always increases relaxation which dissolves panic. Who cares if my face is splitting in half because a tectonic plate in my head slipped or what does it matter I am suddenly a different color? It’s all part of the process. Relax, laugh, enjoy the show.
Not to worry! Don’t pixel panic! It is all part of the download of new inventiveness bombarding our planet, slamming people at the individual level of personal awakening and empowerment. That’s why historically when Jupiter (expansiveness, optimism) and Uranus align (revolutions, leaps in consciousness, eruptive accidents) all the world shifts in dynamic ways. People can feel and act with greater authenticity of purpose and increased desire to get involved. Thus, this configuration is also associated with mass hysteria and mob mentality. Get ready for some of that, perhaps as soon as July, but probably by mid-August when this planetary pair are in square (creative tension seeking release) to Saturn (status quo,traditions) and Pluto (explosions, elimination). Many astrologers are predicting some pretty dire circumstances as this rare event tears at the fabric of our 3D reality. Yet simultaneously, this same dynamic helps align us with new dimensions, both metaphorically and literally, opening up. 4D, 5D and beyond…
What does this Jupiter Uranus event mean for you? I can’t say. No one can. This moment of awakening is designed uniquely for you. It will be your own person AH-HA! It will be based on dreams you have been dreaming for several years now, projects you’ve imagined ready to be birthed, the ways you want to create a sane, healthy, balanced life. You will feel the certainty the NOW IS THE TIME.
This three part transit started June 8, reaches the midpoint of the process Sept 18, completing next year on January 4, 2011. The best way to work with a specific transit like this is to become more conscious of the inner impulses and outer events that arise during the days surrounding these specific dates. Think of the first transit as the awakening, the middle time as the mobilization phase, and the final transit as the completion. Because the intense August period I spoke of earlier is sitting halfway between the beginning and middle of the Jupiter/Uranus event, I imagine each of us will face decisions about where we stand. No more fence-sitting, or simply observing, vacillating.

I would add: lead by personal example. This time in history is about being the leader of your own life and realizing how critical and earth-changing the personal example you set is the KEY bringing balance back to our humanity and Earth.
During the three conjunctions we can recognize our power to create the joyful life we truly desire and to liberate embedded notions of disempowerment manifesting in class and caste systems. That the caste system still exists is a sign of the work that still lies ahead.
At best, this is a time to dance toward greater diversity, celebrate individuality while simultaneously offering increased support and respect “for the least of these”. The universe supports and nurtures both freedom and compassion concurrently, not one at the expense of the other. We can’t have a vibrant healthy Earth or humanity without both impulses active. This is where the common ground will be redefined between democrats/republicans, conservatives/liberals. Jupiter/Uranus periods always bring about innovative collaborations and partnerships that sometimes shock the world and bridge the illusory gap of our perceived polarities.
Here in the Tetons, the day after the new moon eclipse of great severance, huge winds pummeled us for two days. No storms, no clouds, just dynamic disturbing unrelenting wind gusts. Pixel panic got worse. As I was attempting to watch the news in the evening, the satellite dish kept cutting out, like it sometimes will in a huge wintry storm. Not only was Wolf Blitzer’s face melting away, Shepard Smith’s hair disappearing, but perhaps the scariest image of all was when Rachel Maddow, known for her minimalist sense of style, suddenly appeared to be wearing one of those gaudy necklaces the anchorwoman/pundits sometimes wear. The picture would entirely disappear for seconds. The warning message would come on, about having to download the program guide again, but quickly shifted back to a clear picture. I stayed busy, hand-quilting, writing, patiently waiting for the gust to subside.
So don’t panic. Just hang, feel the disconnects, not bad at all, and wait for the reconnect to happen, for clarity to return, and for this massively important shift to perform its magic on you.
Will you choose to be that crazy wise fool that leaps out of your own 3D box with both the eyes of compassion and the natural brilliance of an open mind to see the other person’s point of view? This Jupiter/Uranus download can rewrite any old program you are willing to upgrade.
