Full Moon in sidereal Aries/Libra
“Unfurling” photograph by Claire Dibble
At times, the exactitude of the timing of astronomical events with earthly events is staggeringly exact and a miraculous synchronistic mirror of ‘as below, so above’ and visa versa. Last week, on the day of the exact Mars/Pluto conjunction (initiating a new two-year cycle linked to conflicts and healing of conflicts) South and North Korea took historic steps (literally the leaders took steps onto the other’s soil) to end the separation and standoff of over 60 years, expressing the intention to reunite the Korean Peninsula. Much still needs to be done, but the force and willfulness of Mars/Pluto uniting in visionary, futuristic Sagittarius rose to it’s higher potential ~ the ability to make peace, not fan the flames toward an inferno war, moving us in the right direction, to be sure.
Mars will continue to take the astrological lead in the coming months as it heads into its once-every-two-years retrograde. Please read my post for May 12 for details.
And this SoLunar Cycle will not go out quietly. It ends in double Aries, double fire.
On this personal note: In the hopes of educating, inspiring and coaching my fellow humans to align their astrological studies and predictions with the astronomically-correct sidereal alignments ~ part of our planetary awakening to our higher potential ~ my new motto came to me this week under the pioneering sidereal Aries/Libra Full Moon. It honors both my scientific, ground truthing mind and my poet’s mystical heart.
“Sidereal Astrology : Go outside. Look up. Ground truth your Sky truths in the living, every-changing heavens, in the astronomically-correct sidereal zodiac. Evolve. Go outside. Look up. Lyn Dalebout ~ EarthWord SkyWord”
So there you have it. Onward, human tribe.

Full Moon in sidereal Aries/Libra
“Bird of Paradise” photograph by Claire Dibble
Here is a brief synopsis of the Full Moon characteristics that hold true for every Full Moon from my from my friend and sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner.
“The Full Moon marks the point of coition in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement, a time of celebration. The day just after the Full Moon is a time for the realization of the theme to emerge, of what the activities of the first half of the lunar cycle, culminating into the enthusiasm of the Full Moon, are really about. Relax and allow this realization to occur. There is no need to force it as it surfaces on its own.”
Sun April 29
Full Moon in sidereal Aries/Libra: Sun in Aries trine Saturn in Sagittarius: Today’s Full Moon is positively linked to focused, responsible Saturn, thus making it easier for you to accomplish much and take the next step forward in emerging commitments. Libra is about seeking and finding your best partners (or finding that relationship within your own complexity of Self) and sidereal Aries supports following the truth of your experience, sharing your gifts, leading by example. This can mark a parting of the ways with old alliances and open new channels of connection with others. Jupiter hovers close, too, expanding on the above themes while offering optimism, renewed faith, and a desire to take flight to new heights.
Juno/Chiron conjunction in Pisces: Perhaps you have been dreaming about or actually encountering relationships from your past in recent days? This aspect speaks to this. Chiron brings out a sense of both wounding or vulnerability and Juno represents our key colleagues (which can also show up as one’s perceived enemy or nemesis). As these two meet up in forgiving Pisces, healing tears and unexpressed grief are possible expressions. It also calls up the desire for finding a spiritually supportive relationship. Appreciate the richness of all your relationships and the lessons you have learned.
Mon April 30
Sun in Aries square Lunar Nodes/Ceres: When a planet makes a 90-degree square to the past and future Lunar Nodes, it’s time to be decisive and make a conscious shift from the old way to the new. Sun in Aries gives you courage and independence to listen to your inner Self and take a leap of faith. Ceres in Cancer on the North Lunar Node can involve shifts you making on your home front, in your family relations, and in regards to global issues linked to food, women, children, animal care.
Moon/Jupiter conjunction in Libra: The exuberance of this union expands on the above themes of this Full Moon. Libra calls forth justice and fairness, often through karmic-rebalancing that can lead to both challenging conversations or new peace-making initiatives. People can feel positively confident, overly-confident, and some, outright delusional about what is possible, all under the expansiveness of Jupiter’s influence.
Tue May 1
Moon in Scorpio opposite Venus in Taurus: Focus on your finances, including setting new intentions or goals with yourself and your financial partners.
Wed May 2
Moon in Scorpio square Neptune in Aquarius: Scorpio is emotional and intuitive and Aquarius is detached and futuristic. Dig deeper into challenges with a friend and help brainstorm the way through. It’s a great day for organizations to expand their vision statement or financial possibilities.
Thu May 3
Venus in Taurus trine Ceres in Cancer: You can feel good about spending money today to bring more beauty (like flowers) and practical utility (like a new kitchen gadget) to your home and land. You naturally want to support the people you love.
Fri May 4
Moon/Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius: You can feel emotionally focused or challenged whenever the emotional Moon aligns with stern, serious Saturn. The influence of optimistic Sagittarius is a nice addition and helps you point the laser of your consciousness in the right direction, away from fear and doubt, and toward constructive actions.
Mars enters sidereal Capricorn: This major shift of Mars into Capricorn (ruler of institutions, leadership, rule of law) will be of major significance in our planetary dynamics involving peace efforts, wars erupting, criminals exposed. Read may May 12 post below for more information.
Sat May 5
Moon/Pluto in Sagittarius: Extreme willfulness and will power are part of this monthly union as well as obsessiveness and possessiveness. It’s hard to relax under this sky alignment so best to channel the excessive energy in joyful movement, studying, athletic achievements.
Moon/Mars conjunction in Capricorn: This happens near midnight tonight and can create agitation before going to bed or during the night. Steer clear of picking a fight. Crank up the music and dance. Or stay up late and channel the inspiration into productivity.
Sun May 6
Sun in Aries sextile Neptune in Aquarius: This wonder-filled pairing inspires the imagination and brings positive insights to any interaction today. It is futuristic and courageous, optimistic and uplifting.
Last Quarter Moon
“Final Sunset” photograph by Claire Dibble
Here is a description of the qualities of the Last Quarter Moon phase compliments of my friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”
Mon May 7
Last Quarter Moon: Moon/South Lunar Node in Capricorn square Sun in Aries: Given the influence of the South Lunar Node (past choices/behavior) you may need to clear up or steer clear of past influences. Capricorn governs collective movements, national events or institutions so today can mark a turning point in global events. Aries shows no fear, or is great at moving the mind beyond fear and focusing its illuminating fire in inspiration and leadership.
Mercury in Pisces square Pluto in Sagittarius: Mercury/Pluto aspects create a probing, investigative mind, so this aspect is great for digging deeper into your studies, uncovering deceptions. The square aspect pits the intuitive nature of Pisces against rational thinking of Sagittarius so you might feel that tension today in regards to some situation. Thoughts have a feeling about them and feelings can be logically assessed.
Tue May 8 – Wed May 9
Sun in Aries opposite Jupiter in Libra: This enthusiastic, expansive planetary portal takes two days (at least) of time to work it’s way through your life. This annual opposition brings new perspective and possibilities, while also challenging you to claim your more courageous self in the face of current events. Jupiter is like the far-seeing Hawk or Eagle, soaring above, seeing the big picture, encouraging you to spiral to your next level. Aries honors your independence and Libra, your interdependence.
Thu May 10
Moon/Neptune conjunction in Aquarius: This monthly date of our emotional Moon to see-into-the invisible-world Neptune can bring magical wonder alive again. It helps you connect with emerging dreams and desires and creative inspiration. It’s not particularly grounded so watch where you place your feet today. In Aquarius, giving of your time, unconditionally, to others in need is a natural choice.
Moon in Aquarius square Venus/Pallas Athene in Taurus: This aspect, later in the day, encourages you to bring those ponderings of earlier today down to earth (Taurus) in financial choices, purchases, thus ground-truthing your idea in physical reality.
Fri May 11
Sun in Aries trine Pluto in Sagittairus: This aspect brings tremendous energy and steady determination all day long. Pluto loves to release and compost the past much like the Vulture, Pluto’s bird, transmutes carrion into life-giving nutrition. Let go of things you no longer need, give them to another in need, make more space in your space.
Moon/Chiron/Juno conjunction in Pisces: This aspect is both emotionally healing and revealing (Moon/Chiron) in regards to your beloveds (Juno) and colleagues. It would be the perfect day for a retreat for any business or organization as participants are naturally open to sharing.
Sat May 12
Mars in sidereal Capricorn: Here’s a mini-tutorial on the upcoming Mars retrograde, which I will be elaborating on in the coming weeks. Every other year, Mars goes retrograde. This year, it will happen from June 26 – August 27. However the ‘shadow’ period that defines the whole cycle runs form May 12 – October 8. That begins today. So take special note of what happens within you and around you today.
Mars turning retrograde implies it’s time to not push or be pushy, but be willing to take things more slowly and examine which direction you might ultimately want to go. Some of you might do a remodel of your space, and you might expect some delays in the construction process. Some of you will decide to close shop for good. Some of you will slow yourselves down physically by an injury or by choosing surgery during this time frame. From the collective perspective, this promises to be a time of greater drama and revelation, or going to battle as Mars aligns in forceful Capricorn. In addition, as this Mars retrograde is aligned with the South Lunar Node during the entire cycle, much will be brought to light about past abuses of power or the need for institutional reform. Thus ends my mini-tutorial, for now! Stay tuned!
Mercury in Aries square Mars in Capricorn: This militaristic aspect feels like launching the first line of attack in a battle. It sparks combative communications and can also encourage risk-taking in regards to new intitiatives.
Sun May 13
Moon/Mercury/Uranus in Aries square Mars in Capricorn: If you are active today (and surely you will want to be under this aspect), avoid accidents by moving from the place of your dan tien, your center, your core strength, not with frenetic, unfocused motion. You might bounce from one thing to the next, but then bounce back to complete an earlier task. Or just take a full day off from planned activities and follow the of spontaneity of the moment, Aries’s gift.
Mon May 14
Mars in Capricorn square Uranus in Aries: I share a warning about this shocking, out-of-the-box aspect that kicks in exactly with tomorrow’s New Moon. Mars rules conflicts, physical motion, walking our talk and Uranus is uninhibited and seeks an autonomy of self or autocratic rule. It will be very interesting to see what unfurls in the coming New SolLunar Cycle.
Moon in Aries opposite Jupiter in Libra: This SolLunar Cycle ends with the double fire of both Sun and Moon in sidereal Aries, making for a buzzy, busy day, or leading to a feeling of unbearable burn-out. The opposition of enthusiastic Jupiter is fanning the flames of this flame or flame-out. Be sure to honor your own needs and rhythms, not comparing yourself to anyone else. Aries is always about the courage and independence to be the leader of your own life, even amidst all your responsibilities. Perhaps you have found a new level of trust in your self to know what is best for you in the last four weeks. Gratitude for the New Moon tomorrow.
