Full Moon in sidereal Virgo/Pisces
“South of Half Moon Bay” painting by Lucinda Abbe
Are any of you feeling sudden tidal waves of emotion moving through you and throughout your day, vascillating between tears and a churning rage or passion? Or waves of astounding energy then needing to crash and rest? If so, it’s all part of the sky tension that is enveloping our planetary field. This dynamic was brilliantly, consciously expressed by the young leaders last weekend in the March for our Lives events all over the globe. Out of their grief, it is astonishing how quickly and forcefully these courageous, evolved avatars, unafraid to take on the old authority figures and organizations, have mobilized and literally shifted the world.
This particular Full Moon links by square to the severe, challenging, driven, militaristic Mars/Saturn biannual conjunction, exact on April 2. Another key influence these two weeks is that Mercury is still retrograde. This adds a cooling, calmer energy to our planetary field. It can help you go over previous negotiations and seek more compassionate solutions, given the energy of Pisces.
At the tail end of this SolLunar Cycle, just before the next New Moon we are gifted the second of three of the Jupiter/Pluto sextiles. Read on!
I am so grateful to post my friend Lucinda Abbe’s calming water paintings in this month of water Pisces accompanied by the ferocity of the fiery Mars/Saturn in Sagittarius offering a soothing visual portal for the readers to visit. Thank you, Lucinda. Check out these links for Lucinda’s meditation teaching and for Lucinda’s art.

Please send me an email if that is of interest to you. Thank you!
I post twice a month, on the New Moon (which includes the two weeks of New Moon and First Quarter Moon) and on the Full Moon (which includes the two weeks of Full Moon and Last Quarter Moon). As you work with and within the natural flow of time and supportive cosmic energies of each unique SolLunar Cycle, life will flow with more ease and grace. Full Moon in Virgo/Pisces
“Full Moon Mystery” painting by Lucinda Abbe
Here is a brief synopsis of the Full Moon characteristics that hold true for every Full Moon from my from my friend and sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner.
“The Full Moon marks the point of coition in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement, a time of celebration. The day just after the Full Moon is a time for the realization of the theme to emerge, of what the activities of the first half of the lunar cycle, culminating into the enthusiasm of the Full Moon, are really about. Relax and allow this realization to occur. There is no need to force it as it surfaces on its own.”
Sat March 31
Full Moon: Sun/Mercury retrograde in sidereal Pisces opposite Moon in Virgo: This exceptionally intuitive Full Moon is linked to the star of Porrima. I quote my dear friend Nick from his Lunar Planner as he describes the attributes of this star: “Porrima expresses through the more transcendent nature of the mind, our higher brain centers responsible for a greater perceptual capacity, often associated with clairvoyance and telepathy. Porrima imparts a capacity to have foresight to see future or remote probabilities.” With this Full Moon, it possible for you to catch a glimpse into your own future if your are paying attention, asking for guidance, making time to listen. Be on the lookout for signs and signals.
Full Moon square Mars/Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius: Even though this is not an exact astrological square, the orb is tight enough to highly influence the energies of this Full Moon, enhancing action-driven, truth-telling, take-charge, militaristic behaviors. I repeat what I wrote above: Are any of you feeling sudden tidal waves of emotion moving through you and throughout your day, vascillating between tears and a churning rage or passion? Or waves of astounding energy then needing to crash and rest? If so, It’s all part of the sky tension that is enveloping our planetary field. It’s a good idea to seek out some kind of calming body/mind/spirit work during this period to help you make the necessary adjustments this period is demanding of you, so as not to go into spasm or crisis.
Sunday April 1
Mercury retrograde conjunct Sun in Pisces: This is the middle passage (a turning point) of tiny but potent Mercury retrograde across the path of the Sun. Illuminating conversations, sudden intuitive hits, a release of buried emotion can be part of the mix. Awarenesses naturally bubble up from your depths, breaking into your surface reality, if you make enough space for listening.
Moon in Libra opposite Venus/Uranus in Aries: You might experience a tension between being with others or suddenly wanting space, freedom, or just a break in the routine. Uranus likes to do things its own way, be original, and when linked to Venus, one’s preferences can suddenly shift. A great day to break free of the crowd and do it your own brilliant way. Lastly, for those embarking on the adventure of new love, this day holds a sense the risk was, will be worth it.
Mon April 2
Mars/Saturn conjunction in sidereal Sagittarius: I quote my sidereal colleague and friend, Nick Anthony Fiorenza, about this powerful alignment happening at this monumental time in our history:
“The Mars-Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius synthesis can have a twofold expression. One is aggressive reaction by established authoritarian systems and people. The other impels creative initiative in a leadership capacity to establish and ground the higher unified principles the Zen Archer stands for.” Sounds right-on to me! Both these planets tend to function in the way of tough love, controlling behaviors, determined focus, dogmatism or a willful clarity about what needs to happen. They team up once every two years, so this is a very important day to mark what’s unfolding in your life as you are beginning a new two year cycle. It leads to important action steps. Pull out the binoculars tonight and check out these two powerhouses side by side. Set intentions. Make commitments.
Moon in Libra sextile Mars/Saturn: This peace-making Moon is a welcome addition to superstorm energy of the above Mars/Saturn conjunction. It says if you follow your own inner truth, others will eventually come to accept your choices even if they don’t fully understand.
Sun in Pisces trine North Lunar Node in Cancer: This gentle trine functions like floating in a boat in a smooth flowing channel in the river of your life. Allow yourself to be gently carried to your next stop or step.
Tue April 3
Moon/Jupiter conjunction in Libra: The monthly reunion of expansive, jubilant, excessive Jupiter with the emotional Moon can amplify any emotional wave you are currently riding. Just remember you have a choice about that process, channeling this wonderful energy in creative ways. As Jupiter is currently transiting justice-seeking, peacemaking Libra, the Moon’s monthly trigger to Jupiter often marks important news events in regards to war and peace, and, of course, the current unprecedented dramas of our political world.
Wed April 4
Mercury retrograde in Pisces square Mars/Saturn in Sagittarius: As we navigate any Mercury retrograde cycle, the days Mercury triggers various concurrent planetary alignments, important communications occur or the right plan emerges. With this one happening in intuitive Pisces, sometimes the inner awarenesses are more important than outer events. This one helps you decide where to focus your next action step (Mars/Saturn) but that should mostly be based on how you feel, not what you think.
Thu April 5
Moon in Scorpio trine Mercury retrograde in Pisces: Trines in water signs bring out your natural intuitive abilities and make you a better emotional communicator and listener. This one links deeply compassionate Pisces with deep-feeling, investigative Scorpio. People can more openly express the depth of their beings and feel more trusting.
Fri April 6
Moon/Vesta conjunction in Sagittarius: Here comes the fired-up, rarin’-to-go Sagittarius Moon for the next few days. Today’s link to focused Vesta provides laser-like concentration to all your activities.
Sat April 7
Moon/Mars/Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius: Be a Warrioress/Warrior of the Light, as Oprah loves to say. This aspect can help even the most timid claim their power and own their torch of truth, wand of Light. Also today, some might butt heads with others, or try to convince them their way is best. The best use of this sky gift would be to harness your own torch of Light and do what you need to get done with astounding vitality and energy.
Venus in Aries trine Saturn in Sagittarius: Venus transits are associated often with our love lives, our financial options, our creative urges. Venus in Aries is spontaneous, courageous. The helpful trine to focused Saturn offers a way to ground the bold initiatives emerging into our reality in visionary ways.
Last Quarter Moon
“Daily Walk” painting by Lucinda Abbe
Here is a description of the qualities of the Last Quarter Moon phase compliments of my friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”
Sun April 8
Last Quarter Moon: Moon/Pluto in Sagittarius square Sun in Pisces sextile Jupiter in Libra: We are almost through this ferocious cycle that merged the power of our emotions (Pisces) with the will to take action and succeed (Sagittarius). Not surprising this Last Quarter turning point packs a punch, too, as the emotive Moon makes a monthly rendezvous with death-to-the-old, birth-to-the-new Pluto, with an additional upbeat sextile to optimistic Jupiter. If Sunday is usually your day of rest, it probably won’t be that restful today. Appreciate the fire in your belly, move with it, especially in forms of physical activity, and know and claim your power transform your world.
Mon April 9
Moon in Capricorn opposite Ceres in Cancer: Capricorn takes pride in one’s responsibilities, wanting to be successful in all accomplishments. Ceres in Cancer takes joy in nurturing others and lending a helping hand. It’s a perfect day to reach out to the elders and children in your lives, finding out what they love, and finding pride and joy in serving them. And with the helping hand of compassionate Mercury, tender conversations emerge. It’s also an excellent house-cleaning energy, too.
Juno in Aquarius sextile Pluto in Sagittarius: Both these astrological signs are linked more to our future selves rather than our past lives. Morphing into new forms within our current relationships or morphing into new relationships altogether are part of this lovely sextile.
Tue April 10
Moon/South Lunar Node in Capricorn: Since this aspect happens in the wee hours of the morning, it might manifest as haunting dreams about your past and what you have lived through, or show you what you need to let go of and how to proceed. Be open
Venus in Aries trine Mars in Sagittarius: Babies born today will be extraordinary athletes and visionary activists with this aspect, which balances heart-based listening (Venus) with a courageous spirit that must act upon one’s truth (Mars). You, too, can be that person today, and everyday!
Wed April 11
Sun in Pisces square Pluto in Sagittarius: This annual first-quarter square of Sun to Pluto marks a turning point to be sure. Sometimes Pluto appears as dark and challenging events or as a deep-seated drive to move forward, despite objections. Pluto is the great Composter and in that role, serves as a key support in pressuring us to release what no longer serves our higher Good. Change or die, Pluto’s motto. I love Pluto. I trust Pluto. No need to fear Pluto (that’s old school astrology).
Sun in Pisces quincunx Jupiter in Libra: The aspect of the quincunx shows up as the need to make a subtle adjustment in your plans or relationships. Both these signs are peace-seeking and caring so the necessary shift (linked into the intense above aspect) might be more gentle and opening.
Moon in Aquarius sextile Uranus in Aries: Make a spontaneous date or try a new activity with a friend or partner today as Uranus likes to experiment and break free of past constraints.
Thu April 12
Moon/Neptune conjunction in Aquarius: Friendly, cooperative, creative, original, futuristic are all aspects of lovely monthly reunion. Seek out those who are true friends or make a new friend today.
Fri April 13
Moon/Juno conjunction in Aquarius: This aspect is similar to yesterday’s, continuing the interesting conversations that emerged. With Juno involved (asteroid of covenant partnerships and soul colleagues) you might take a personal or collaborative relationship to the next level.
Moon/Chiron conjunction in Pisces: This monthly alignment can bring on a feeling of emotional vulnerability. Visit healing hot springs or luxuriate in a bath within your home. This combo is non-verbal, magical, deeply healing, and part of the completion phase of the Balsamic Moon (the end of a SolLunar Cycle) in which resting more, doing less, are always good activities.
Sat April 14
Jupiter in Libra sextile Pluto in Sagittarius: This marks the middle of three transits of optimistic Jupiter with transformational Pluto, bringing good news concering justice being served and the truth coming forward despite attempts for concealment. The first one was in early January and the finale will be mid-September. As these are both slow moving planets, this isn’t a one day event, but more of a background energy guiding the larger global events in our world. Jupiter brings renewed faith and confidence, and Pluto encourages you to trust your own power even in the face of other’s power abuses. It can mean you are asked to take a calculated risk you have thought through and that will be amply supported if you stay optimistic and focused on your goals.
Moon/Mercury retrograde conjunction in Pisces: It’s cosmically wonderful that Mercury will turn direct tomorrow, the same day as a New Moon linked to shocker, catalytic Uranus. What perfect divine timing. Thank you, Mercury in sidereal Pisces, for all you are teaching us about how to live more intuitively, trusting our inner guidance above all else, and to come from a place of compassion, forgiveness, open-heartedness, loving kindness.
Happy New Moon tomorrow!
