Full Moon in sidereal Leo/Aquarius
“Water Keeper” painting by Priscilla Marden
I dedicate this post to the courageous, articulate, compassionate high school students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Parkland, Florida, and to their movement ~ Never Again ~ that is arising out of the mass murder that occurred at their school on February 14. This movement is not just about unchecked gun violence, but so much more. It is about a long-brewing shift in consciousness, a knowingness that guns do not solely keep us safe, but that the protective energies of love, kindness, compassion are what ultimately keep us safe. This ancient wisdom is coming of age with these young adults. They are bravely, confidently, fiercely and unapologetically taking their mantle of leadership. And the world is following.
How fitting it is that this Full Moon is in sidereal Leo – the children – makes a illuminating opposition to Sun/Neptune in Aquarius – humanity’s collective awakening. It is a potent one, full of the promise of joyful beginnings and dramatic shifts and changes in direction. Take advantage of the focused Mars/Vesta conjunction in Scorpio, still in play during this period, to refocus your willpower, reinvest your time, energy and money, and redirect your thoughts, intentions, visualizations into projects and new directions that are inspiring you now. The rapid accelerations of 2018 in lifting our collective consciousness and catalyzing each person’s leadership (the gift of last year’s Total Solar Eclipse of August 21, 2017 ) are indeed on the fast track to bold and rapid manifestation.
There’s more major news to report. On March 8, Jupiter will turn retrograde until July 10. I always seem to need to remind people retrogrades are not bad! This energy of this annual momentous shift of expansive, optimistic, abundant Jupiter helps us integrate the newly hatched visions and desires that emerged over the last two few months. This can lead you to initiate new studies, gain new confidence in tasks, change jobs, move to new locations, and shed things you no longer need.
Thank you, Priscilla Marden, beloved long-time soul friend, visionary artist, sidereal astrology colleague and co-education partner (together we taught Art and Literature in Nature at Teton Science School for several years to high school students). MINI-READINGS: My Total Solar Eclipse mini-readings seemed to assist many in 2017. So I am continuing to offer this shorter reading for $44 (a number associated with living your Mastery on Earth), in which I give you a quick peek at your basic transits for 2018. You get a whole lot of information! Please send me an email if that is of interest to you. Thank you!
I post twice a month, on the New Moon (which includes the two weeks of New Moon and First Quarter Moon) and on the Full Moon (which includes the two weeks of Full Moon and Last Quarter Moon). As you work with and within the natural flow of time and supportive cosmic energies of each unique SolLunar Cycle, life will flow with more ease and grace. Full Moon in sidereal Leo
“Healing Horse Mandala” painting by Priscilla Marden
Here is a brief synopsis of the Full Moon characteristics that hold true for every Full Moon from my from my friend and sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner.
“The Full Moon marks the point of coition in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement, a time of celebration. The day just after the Full Moon is a time for the realization of the theme to emerge, of what the activities of the first half of the lunar cycle, culminating into the enthusiasm of the Full Moon, are really about. Relax and allow this realization to occur. There is no need to force it as it surfaces on its own.”
Thu March 1
Full Moon in sidereal Leo/Aquarius: Moon in Leo opposite Sun/Neptune in Aquarius: This Full Moon is full of the promise of inspiration, imagination, joy, playful exuberance given the nature of Leo and the influence of Neptune hovering near the Sun. It can bring good energy to any team you are part of, so it would be a great day for co-workers to do something social that is uplifting, thus enhancing team morale. On another front, this Full Moon and the surrounding days, might also expose deceptions (Neptune) or cover-ups surrounding egotistical leaders (Leo).
Venus in Aquarius trine Jupiter in Libra: This very supportive and kind trine can bring help from a friend or positive financial news. It tends to bring out feelings of camaraderie, a genuine openness to other’s views, reminding us of our similarities, not our differences, with other humans, tribal affiliations, nationalities.
Fri March 2
Moon in Leo opposite Mercury/Venus/Chiron: The feeling-centered, speak-your-heart’s-truth Leo Moon makes a cascading series of oppositions today, bringing about mood shifts or swings throughout the day. First the opposition to Mercury can manifest as run-on sentences and non-stop talking or spark a lively exchange of ideas. Next, as Venus comes into play, you can more fully explore the idea that mirrors your heart’s truth. Later in the evening, the Moon shifts to helpful Virgo and opposes vulnerable Chiron, leading to supportive exchanges or feeling overly emotional.
Sat March 3
Sun/Neptune conjunction in Aquarius: This annual celestial phenomenon bathes our Earth in a blue-light healing glow, not visible to our earthly eyes but to our inner eyes, and we are able to imagine new possibilities and download new dreams. Revisit all the teachings about how you are creating your own reality and commit more deeply to using the power of your imagination to bring forth new realities that support you moving forward. And, equally, remember to spend time with your spiritual Team (by that I mean your spirit guides of angels, ancestors, animals) thanking them for their ever-constant support and protection. This nebulous duo can also create a sense of walking on air, meaning, it’s not very grounded, so be sure to pay attention to your body by being conscious of where you are placing your feet, putting your things.
Sun March 4
Mercury/Venus/Chiron conjunction in Pisces: This trio is compassion incarnate as Mercury (your ideas) Venus (your heart-based values) and Chiron (always brings a healing) all team up in forgiving Pisces. This might be the astrological configuration for the Buddhist concept of Loving Kindness, a favorite teaching of mine. It’s also a poet’s and musician’s dream for channeling new inspiration so make wide open space for listening, receiving, translating.
Moon in Virgo: Most of the day, the Moon finishes it’s monthly transit through sidereal Virgo, bringing an emotional discernment, grounded-ness and a desire to help others. But as the clock turns to midnight, it will oppose Uranus, possibly leading to a disruptive night of sleep or a sudden urge to get up and do something.
Mon March 5
Moon in Libra trine Juno in Aquarius: This cooperative trine between the peace-loving, beauty-appreciating Moon in Libra to who-are-your-key-relationships Juno in Aquarius makes working alongside another easy and fun and encourages even those who are more solitary to reach out to a good friend for conversation and support.
Tue March 6
Moon/Jupiter in sidereal Libra trine Sun in Aquarius: Continuing with yesterday’s theme, this equally friendly, communicative aspect and brings emotional exuberance to the world as the instinctual, feeling Moon makes it’s monthly conjunction to enthusiastic, prone-to-exaggeration, Jupiter. Superlatives rule the day and there is an air of optimism engulfing our globe. Importantly, Libra rules justice, and justice is being served.
Wed March 7
Moon in Scorpio trine Chiron/Venus/Mercury in Pisces: The sometimes-suspicious Moon in Scorpio makes a lovely trine to the sometimes-naïve Piscean conjunction of planets. Those who doubt can become more forgiving and those who forgive too much (is that possible?) realize it’s okay to set protective boundaries. All in all, this geometry makes for healing, deeply emotional, honest connections with others.
Thu March 8
Jupiter in sidereal Libra turns retrograde: When the planetary ruler of teachers, justice, joy, abundance, and excess turns retrograde, a turning point is reached in terms of recognizing you have entered a new territory. Now begins a period of getting comfortable living within this new ‘space’, be that figuratively or literally. Nothing ever stays the same, and so these planetary motions provide the wisdom to push forward when it’s time, then incorporate the new energies into your nervous system as you release, realign, redesign during retrogradation. The process of both shedding what has seen it’s day and practicing new routines, principles, beliefs that mirror this more expansive view of who you are becoming has begun. Exciting! And a bit scary and overwhelming, too. By time Jupiter turns direct on July 10 this year, you could be living in a whole new reality if that is what you desire.
Jupiter cycles are 12 years long, Libra rules our justice system so this transit means the justice system is due for an overhaul and upgrade. This upgrade was set in motion in the fall of 2017 and continues through October 2018. In the first part of this cycle, some people want to go backward to the old, more repressive ways, but by time this transit is done, the evolutionary trends beckoning from the future will take hold, leading our world toward more freedom and fairness for all.
Last Quarter Moon
“Spiral Hand” painting by Priscilla Marden
Here is a description of the qualities of the Last Quarter Moon phase compliments of my friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”
Fri March 9
Last Quarter Moon: Moon/Vesta in Scorpio square Sun in Aquarius: This intense dynamic creates forceful displays of will, even battles of willfulness, power plays, or gives you the determination to push past any lingering doubts about a matter and take action.
Mercury in Pisces trine Ceres in Cancer: This nurturing aspect manifests as sharing tears with someone or initiates conversations of forgiveness, being kind. Find ways to share the bounty of your unconditional love, by checking in on someone in need of some TLC, visiting pets that still need to be adopted, signing up to deliver meals to those in need, visiting elders in their homes or assisted living homes.
Moon/Mars conjunction in Sagittarius: I like reporting that Mars has finished it’s once-every-two-year transit of undercover delving, Scorpio, and has now entered sunlight-is-best-disinfectant, Sagittarius. And the emotional Moon aligns with Mars this evening, late-night energy surges, heated discussions, athletic intimacy are possibilities for the hot-flame expression of this conjunction.
Sat March 10
Moon/Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius square Mercury in Pisces: There can be a stand-off between what your mind and heart think is the best course of action. Moon/Saturn tends to see things realistically and sometimes with a limited mindset, while Mercury in Pisces believes in the power of the imagination to go beyond ‘what is’ and embrace the magic of ‘what could be’.
Sun in Aquarius sextile Pallas Athene in Aries: Envisioning your way out of a perceived dilemma is easier today with this stimulating sextile. Feel and see your own brilliance rise up and guide you in courageous ways.
Sun March 11
Mars in Sagittarius trine Uranus in Aries: A most excellent day for an athletic outing, but also be okay to suddenly change your plans to adapt to the moment (shocking Uranus). If you follow your intuition, you might avoid an accident or potential delay.
Moon/Pluto conjunction in Sagittarius trine Pallas Athene in Aries: As the Moon makes its monthly alignment to each planetary being, energy is released and seeks expression. As the Moon aligns with Pluto, big changes happen suddenly, explosions are possible, power struggles come to the fore. With the positive trine to Pallas Athene (goddess of creative wisdom and strategy) in risk-loving Aries, you might make a shift in your life plans that reminds you you still have boldness, drive and courage to lead an adventurous life or reinvent your identity.
Mon March 12
Moon in Capricorn opposite Ceres in Cancer: The emotional tone today is serious and involves issues surrounding our responsibilities in our relationships. It’s good, too, for getting caught up, pushing past procrastination and becoming more organized.
Tue March 13
Sun in Aquarius trine Jupiter in Libra: This good-news aspect brings support and friendship with new doors of opportunity opening. Use this energy to remember the important key of giving gratitude for unknown blessings already on their way. Luck comes often from a positive outlook.
Venus in Pisces square Saturn in Sagittarius: In contrast to the above energy, this aspect can bring about tensions or fears involving love or money, Venus’s domain. Use the focusing power of Saturn, not as fear, but to get real about what is happening or needs to happen.
Mars in Sagittarius square Chiron in Pisces: Defensive, even angry Mars stands off with compassionate Chiron and people discuss which course of action will truly make a difference. All hands are needed on deck in terms of activism given all that is currently at risk. So find away to team up as both earthly and spiritual warriors, fighting for your cause in a way that feels right for you.
Moon/South Lunar Node conjunction in Capricorn: This once-monthly alignment can bring up nostalgia for our parents and elders who have passed. Be in communion with the living or spirit elders tonight, if you still rely on their sage advice.
Wed March 14
Moon in Capricorn square Jupiter in Libra and Pallas Athene in Aries: This planning-oriented square brings out tensions in team players, or families, or helps to solve a problem or design issue. Some might want to take a more traditional approach while others want to make a more experimental choice.
Thu March 15
Moon/Juno conjunction in Aquarius: This relational aspect takes place in the evening and can lead to a sudden desire to meet up/talk to a friend or make a commitment to be a better friend, or give you courage to ask a long-time friend out for a romantic date. Conversely, Aquarius can also bring out anti-social needs, so you might desire to take your own space to be in communion with yourself. Your relationship with yourself is a most important one, so cultivate that, too, with love, appreciation, gratitude, compassion.
Fri March 16
Moon/Neptune conjunction in Aquarius: An important dream may have surfaced in the early morning or you may wake up creatively inspired, full of visions and faith that things will work out. On this last day of a completing SolLunar Cycle, it might be nice to make social time with an old or new friend, sharing notes about what just happened in both of your lives. Rest, relax, release, always good advice as a cycle completes.
New Moon/New SolLunar Cycle in Pisces occurs tomorrow right at sunrise so if you are inspired, greet the dawn with fresh new intentions or a wide open openness to what is next to come.
