Full Moon in sidereal Gemini/Sagittarius
“Igniting Passions” painting by Trea Christopher Grey
This Moon is Super for several reasons. Astronomically, such close proximity of the Moon to Earth always heightens and amplifies the emotional waves of everyone, even the animals and plants. In addition, Gemini is known for super mood swings that can lead to episodes of depression or mania, experiencing the full range of the light and dark of human behavior. Lastly, this Full Moon takes place hours before the planet that rules revolution and authenticity, Uranus, turns direct on January 2 from it’s retrograde of August 2. This makes it a highly charged and electrical Full Moon. Uranus pressures us to take bold risks, break free of limiting patterns of beliefs and habits, embrace our intuition and knowingness in each and every moment. Uranus counsels expect the unexpected, and when it shows up, trust that what is emerging now, no matter how strange, has an important message for you.
Another extremely momentous event is crescendoing this next week, the once-every-two-years Mars/Jupiter conjunction building to exact on January 6. It’s good to be prepared for this one so read below.
I continue to offer my Winter Solstice discounts on all my longer readings through January 6, 2018. Please let me know if you are interested!
Thank you, dear friends, Trea Christopher Grey and Kimall Christensen, for the gift of your futuristic, positive oracle, Worlds of Good Fortune, no better way to honor, in art, the beginning of the New Year of 2018. (I wanted to highlight how each card has two complementary paintings and a poem, so you may need to read them on your phone so you can enlarge the poems.)
Trea Christopher Grey says, “Experiencing Worlds of Good Fortune is to till the soil of unlimited creativity sowing seeds of the heart. It is a gateway into Heaven-on-Earth, a garden of universal compassion and peace where we blossom in the magnitude of love.” That would be my wish.

Full Moon in sidereal Gemini/Sagittarius
“Worlds of Good Fortune” poem and painting by Trea Christopher Grey
Here is a brief synopsis of the Full Moon characteristics that hold true for every Full Moon from my from my friend and sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner.
“The Full Moon marks the point of coition in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement, a time of celebration. The day just after the Full Moon is a time for the realization of the theme to emerge, of what the activities of the first half of the lunar cycle, culminating into the enthusiasm of the Full Moon, are really about. Relax and allow this realization to occur. There is no need to force it as it surfaces on its own.”
Mon January 1
Full Moon in sidereal Gemini/Sagittarius: This Super Full Moon takes place tonight right just after moonrise. That is stunning and auspicious timing given that Full Moons can take place any time of day (many people do not know this). But this one, marking our entrance into 2018, will be at full illumination just as it rises. Super! Needless to say, get outside and may your skies be clear.
Astronomically, such close proximity of Moon to Earth always heightens and amplifies the emotional waves of everyone, even the animals and plants. In addition, Gemini is known for mood swings that can lead to episodes of depression or mania, and experiencing the full range of the light and dark of human behavior. Lastly, this Full Moon also takes place hours before the planet that rules revolution and authenticity, Uranus, turns direct on January 2 from it’s retrograde of August 2, nudging us to take bold risks, break free of limiting patterns of beliefs and habits, embrace our intuition and knowingness in each and every moment.
The astrological signs of Gemini and Sagittarius bring awareness to the workings of our minds and thoughts, our political reality, our informational systems, international events. This intense Super Moon can increase mindless mental chatter or amplify your ability to hear your Universal Mind which is more centered, more grounded than the Gemini monkey mind. Under this Full Moon, the manipulations of the manipulators and false prophets who have not integrated their shadow into Source truth will be unmasked, like in the Wizard of Oz. You may discover the need for further integration around your own splits in consciousness or subconscious pulls still rabbit-holing you back to the past. You may also decide new ways for you to interact with social media so as not to feel overwhelmed. This kind of ruminating will continue in the coming few days as this Full Moon offers it’s gifts of opportunity and awakening.
Moon in Gemini opposite Saturn/Venus: Monthly Moon/Saturn alignments can bring depression, a reality check, or help you stay focused and undistracted. Moon opposite Venus can create a teeter-tottering between choosing what you need versus what you want. You might need to be on a budget but the expansive and excessive nature of Sagittarius wants none of that. Temper tantrums are possible.
Tue January 2
Uranus turns direct: Was it tricky falling into a deep sleep last night or staying asleep? That’s because nerve-jangling Uranus was released from it’s retrograde (since August 2) and turned direct, creating both anxiety or a sudden need to break free. This may upset any planned events you made for today. Go with the flow. You might catch a wave of intuitive insights or bold awakenings if you are energetically available. Cosmically, this moment signals a shift for our planet toward creative directions emerging, revolutions gaining momentum, the instinct for freedom, not domination, to further take hold of humanity’s heart.
Mars squares Lunar Nodes: This reasonably rare aspect marks a turning point about where to place your energy going forward. What motivates you to get up in the morning, what do you care about and how do you want to make sure you are helping in that cause? These are questions to ponder today as Mars is a planet of activism and activation. Feel the force within you and move it outward in concrete action steps.
Jupiter in Libra square Ceres in Cancer: This longer-range aspect triggers justice being served in the protection of women, children, animals, our food supply, our caregiving roles. Squares encourage people to stop being by-standers, but to get engaged in co-creating a better world for all.
Moon in Gemini trine Mars/Jupiter/Vesta all in Libra: This cascading aspect unfolds throughout the course of today, bringing messages and communications (Gemini) from a variety of supportive sources and connections (Libra).
Wed January 3
Moon in Cancer opposite Juno in Capricorn: The monthly Cancer Moon highlights family issues or spawns a desire to be home, fixing up the home. Today’s opposition to relationship Juno in responsible Capricorn discovers better structures or routines that serve the interest of the family. It’s good for connecting with your beloveds in heart to heart discussions.
Moon/North Lunar Node/Ceres in Cancer conjunction: This late night event can lead to a sudden urge to clean your home, dig out old scrapbooks as you reminisce, or track down an old friend or family member.
Thu January 4
Water Grand Trine: Moon in Cancer/Mercury in Scorpio/Uranus in Pisces: Water signs govern our intuitive nature and make us more emotional. Today you may have a sudden intuitive knowing about information that is being kept secret, or just be able to read people better in terms of their underlying motivations. You may choose to remain silent or share this information.
Fri January 5
Moon in Leo trine Saturn in Sagittarius: This pleasant aspect likes focused play or goal-setting in your athletic achievements. It’s a nice day to teach your children something, or let them educate you.
Mars/Jupiter in Libra: This aspect is exact tomorrow but I am giving you warning today. Inflammation is on the rise, in our bodies, in our temperaments, as situations reach a boiling point in current warzones and hot spots around the globe. You have many choices as to how you will experience this demanding, fiery aspect. More on this tomorrow.
Sat January 6
Mars/Jupiter conjunction in sidereal Libra: Wow and ouch! A full range of options and experiences presents itself. These two planets align once-every-two-years and always signify major events taking place on the world stage as well as launching new initiatives within our personal lives. With this aspect, inflammation is on the rise, in our bodies, our temperaments, and situations reach a boiling point in hot spots around the globe. Mars is a planet of heat, passion, warfare, standing your ground and Jupiter, as our largest planet, literally amplifies and exaggerates whatever to touches. The full range of this dynamic duo encompasses feeling super-optimistic or violently rage-full. They are meeting up in sidereal Libra, a sign of justice, balance, mediation, beautifying our world. Justice will being served, truths will come out, more people are willing to take to the streets to ensure justice will not be diminished by their current despotic leaders. May you find a way to also feel the joy and vibrancy of this enthusiastic alignment as you feel it’s heightened confidence guiding you to trust yourself and your heart’s true direction.
Moon in Leo trine Sun/Venus in Sagittarius: The monthly Leo Moon can fill our world with joy, bring a return of child-like wonder, and spark a desire to make art. This aspect mirrors what I wrote above: May you find a way to feel the joy and vibrancy of this enthusiastic alignment as you feel it’s confidence guiding you to trust yourself and your heart’s true direction.
Epiphany: This traditional day of receiving a holy gift or epiphany that arises out the paying attention over these previous High HolyDays since Winter Solstice is one I continue to honor. May you, too, receive an insight coming from your wise future Self that is always guiding you from within. You may call that Being the Inner Teacher, the Still Small Voice, your Higher Self. No matter the name, it is stream of your wisdom Self that walks beside you, inside you, is actually YOU, at all times, ready to guide when you are ready to receive, everyday, not just today….but it’s fun to celebrate this sacred moment of birth for 2018.
Sun January 7
Mercury re-enters Sagittarius: We are entering the home stretch of the recent Mercury retrograde period. As Mercury re-enters the truth-telling Light of Sagittarius, research and revelations previously unseen will be brought out in the open for all to see. And thankfully, you may feel a return to a more optimistic frame of reference from the darker mental moments of November/December 2017.
Moon in Virgo square Saturn in Sagittarius: Hardworking and serious about accomplishment is what this aspect is about. There is a critical edginess that can lead to finding judgment about everyone and everything. Channel that energy with care unless you want to create arguments or fighting around you.
Last Quarter Moon
“Seeding Possibility” poem and paintings by Trea Christopher Grey
Here is a description of the qualities of the Last Quarter Moon phase compliments of my friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”
Mon January 8
Last Quarter Moon: Moon in Virgo square Sun/Venus/Pluto in Sagittarius: Like the recent Super Moon, this promises to be a Super Last Quarter Moon, bringing to completion this SolLunar Cycle that opened the door to 2018. The analytical, purifying Virgo Moon loves to offer solutions and advice and this catalytic square to ‘death to the old’, Pluto, and ‘do what you love, love who you love’, Venus, can lead to a possible healing crisis, or create an obsessive need to feel DONE with something that’s been plaguing you. When Pluto and Venus align, as they are right now, the raw truth of our heart is revealed. No filters, no games, the rock bottom truth. And the gift of Pluto is it will cleanse you whether your ego likes it or not. It is the Cosmic Recycler, assisting us always in letting go of our old garbage.
Sun/Venus conjunction: The moment of this exact alignment takes place at midnight MST. If you are drawn to stay up late and meditate, feel your heart open further to all you long to manifest as you experience the merging off the Higher Self (Sun) with the planetary guide of art, love, creativity, personal values (Venus). Venus leaves her Morning Star phase and enters her Evening Star phase for the coming months. Look to the west in the coming weeks just after sunset to see this shining light, shedding light on our Earth.
Tue January 9
Sun/Pluto/Venus conjunction in Sagittarius: This is an obsessive, focused planetary package of three energies, all combining to create an incisive arrow of undaunted focus. Venus encourages us to find out what we desire and love in relationships and creativity. When teamed up with Pluto, which vows to release all that would keep us from achieving those desires, this can be a portal of great clarity, no distraction. But Pluto often delivers it’s gift through brutal partings, unexpected deaths, healing crisis. So for some, this will not be an easy passage, but it will be a truthful one.
Wed January 10
Moon in Libra square Juno in Capricorn/Ceres in Cancer: The focus in on your relationships, both personal and professional today, and exploring the work/home balance.
Thu January 11
Moon/Jupiter/Mars/Vesta conjunction in Libra: The emotional pull of the Moon in Libra is toward relating to others and to create justice in our world. This highly charged monthly conjunction to enthusiastic, dogmatic Jupiter, stand-your-ground Mars, and focused Vesta, leads to confrontational conversations but possibly creates a desire to be more diplomatic than usual. The Courts are extra busy today. `
Fri January 12
Mercury/Saturn conjunction in sidereal Sagittarius: This marks the finale of the recent Mercury retrograde cycle. Saturn’s influence is ‘the buck stops here’. It’s time to take responsibility for your choices, or potentially be stopped by an external authority. When Mercury, ruler of our minds, aligns with Saturn, clear decision-making is a hope, but you can also be overly serious, feel depressed or temporarily lack confidence to move forward.
Sat January 13
Moon in Scorpio trine Ceres/North Lunar Node: Today is mostly a flow day, no major aspects. This one encourages a focus on finances on the home front, lending a hand to an elder, helping a family member discover their underlying emotional desire.
Sun January 14
Moon/Saturn/Mercury conjunction in Sagittarius: This fusion of feeling (Moon) with thinking (Mercury) and Saturn (focus, serious) all aligning in Sagittarius, the astrological sign of philosophy, religious studies, super athletes, futuristic vision, makes for a day of sharpened focus, feeling a unification and directive coming from of the HeartMind. It’s an excellent day to create a vision board.
Mon January 15
Sun in Capricorn sextile Chiron in Pisces: This mild aspect brings a feeling of solid support in both the physical and emotional dimensions. Take it easy today. Keep in mind that the next New Moon takes place just after sunset tomorrow, so make tomorrow a day of completing tasks, tying up loose ends, looking back over the past four weeks to see clearly what emerged for you as your new beginning. Blessings for 2018!
