New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Sagittarius
“Emergence” detail of painting by Trea Christopher Grey
Ah. Deep in-breath. A sigh of out-breath. We have arrived at years’ end as well as the beginning promise of a New Year. Winter Solstice takes place on December 21 at 9:28 am MST, which marks the beginning of the celestial New Year in the Northern Hemisphere. Having moved my home base to Arizona in 2017 after 40+ years of primarily residing in my heart-home of the Grand Tetons, Wyoming, I feel an even stronger pull than usual this year to use these sacred HolyDays to rest, reflect, absorb the magnitude of the personal and global shifts, become empty, truly empty for a while before the next creative surge takes hold in the winter. It is particularly challenging to write when I just want to listen. May you, too, make space for this kind of sacred restorative time amidst your flurry of joyful celebrations. Like the Bears, dreaming a new dream from the womb of hibernation, follow the Earth and burrow deep into your depths, not an opportunity to be missed, as this kind of stillness happens only at this time of year.
Our New SolLunar cycle takes place near midnight on December 17 in sidereal Sagittarius, a sign of truth, vision, exploration, seeking. Sagittarius also has strong ties to nature and animals, loves to spend time attuning to the future, envisioning things never seen before. The chart for Winter Solstice, the celestial New Year, is prescient and remarkable (read below). Mercury will turn direct on December 22, but we are not out of the woods yet in terms of globally challenging events, at least until the shadow period is over on January 10. What was uncovered during this Mercury retrograde linked to Saturn will continue to reverberate throughout our collective field for many months to come.
I continue to offer my Winter Solstice discounts on all my longer readings through January 6, 2018. Please let me know if you are interested!
Thank you, dear friends, Trea Christopher Grey and Kimall Christensen, for the gift of your futuristic, positive oracle, Worlds of Good Fortune, no better way to honor, in art, the beginning of the New Year of 2018. (I wanted to highlight how each card has two complementary paintings and a poem, so you may need to read them on your phone so you can enlarge the poems.)
Trea Christopher Grey says, “Experiencing Worlds of Good Fortune is to till the soil of unlimited creativity sowing seeds of the heart. It is a gateway into Heaven-on-Earth, a garden of universal compassion and peace where we blossom in the magnitude of love.” That would be my wish.

WELCOME THE NEW YEAR MINI-READINGS: Due to the continued demand for my recent Total Solar Eclipse mini-readings for $44 (a number associated with living your Mastery on Earth), I will continue to offer this shorter reading in which I discuss where the historic Total Solar Eclipse is taking place in your chart, along with other personal transits for 2018. Please send me an email if that is of interest to you. Thank you!
I post twice a month, on the New Moon (which includes the two weeks of New Moon and First Quarter Moon) and on the Full Moon (which includes the two weeks of Full Moon and Last Quarter Moon). As you work with and within the natural flow of time and supportive cosmic energies of each unique SolLunar Cycle, life will flow with more ease and grace. My interpretations and predictions are based on the true sidereal astronomical alignments. You can read about my unique way of interpreting astrology at this link: EarthWord SkyWord sidereal readings. Even NASA is onboard now with the sidereal zodiac!

New SolLunar Cycle in Sagittarius
“The Inner Companion” poem and paintings by Trea Christopher Grey
Here is a list of New Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from LunarPlanner:
“Beginning the Sprouting Phase of the Lunar Cycle, a new theme emerges, a new idea or concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. Often this process is one of discovery, slowly revealing a simple theme over a day or two, or it may be quite clear and specific, even suggesting a major life change. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation or a quite walk—to go within self and listen.”
Sun December 17
New SolLunar cycle in sidereal Sagittarius: Much of what I write about today is in play tomorrow given that the actual New Moon takes place near midnight tonight. Keep in mind, this is the new SolLunar cycle that guides us into our New Year, exciting news as Sun, Moon and results-oriented Saturn all align today in life-coach, futuristic, visionary Sagittarius. Use this next four week period for accessing and assessing information coming to you from your future self, planting seeds of intention for places you want to visit, things you want to study, courageous leaps you want to make. Some will make a master plan, be drawn to construct a vision board, make new vows they hope to keep.
Mon December 18
Moon/Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius: This serious aspect is backlit by the illuminating Sun which shines light on your subconscious depths and motivations. Perhaps an insight or awareness rises up today. This can lead to a productive day, especially dealing with things that you have consciously been avoiding. Take Saturn’s approach by starting with one thing, then go to the next task, one step in front of the other, and by the end of today, you may very well have checked everything off your list, feeling a sense of accomplishment.
Mercury retrograde conjunct Antares: Watch for political intrigue and revelations with this alignment. Antares is the searing red heart of the Scorpion, a star linked to political power, power struggles, life and death battles. This star, and it’s companion, Aldebaran, red eye of the Bull of Taurus, warns a revolution is at hand if those in power forget the history lessons of the past (the American revolution, the French revolution, for example) by trying to grab power from the citizens who are the actually the boss of them. This Mercury retrograde cycle is reminding us of this truth and has played a hand in ensuring many are taking back their power.
Tue December 19
Moon in Sagittarius sextile Mars/Jupiter in Libra: This is an activist and motivational alignment and can uplift your mood after the seriousness of yesterday.
Moon/Pluto conjunction in Sagittarius: It makes for a fierce, obsessive, compelling alignment when our emotional Moon makes a monthly conjunction with delving, power-conscious, transformational Pluto. This planet also functions very biologically and can lead to sudden purging or a desire to cleanse the unnecessary from our lives. It can provide herculean energy for some all day long.
Wed December 20
Venus in Scorpio trine Uranus in Pisces: This aspect is experimental in love, art, financial investments, providing you are willing to take a risk. This trine makes it easier today.
Venus in Scorpio square Chiron in Aquarius: This challenging square of heart-based Venus to wounding/healing Chiron leads to deep and honest conversations and continues to shed light on abuses in regards to women.
Moon/Juno conjunction in Capricorn: This partnership aspect which occurs late in the evening can lead to making plans, discussing responsibilities, or simply bonding with your beloved.
Thu December 21
Winter Solstice: The Sun takes its own deep breath as it pauses and turns around at 9:28 am MST having reached its furthermost southern point. This is the celestial New Year for us in the Northern Hemisphere and the aspects occurring in today’s astrological chart often function like an oracle for potential energies of 2018. Here are a few of the key aspects:
Sun/Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius: This paring taking place on this day of Winter Solstice is momentous in my opinion. Saturn rules law and order and manifests as the rock-bottom reality we face during challenging events as well as giving birth to new conditions in our lives. This indicates that in 2018, we will all be asked to step into our authority and leadership, pressed to take a stand or make decisions. They are meeting up in Sagittarius, the Archer who is a Centaur, who has deep ties to nature, seeks the truth, hits the target with adept precision, stays focused on the task at hand. FOCUS will be an important word for 2018. Focus: the act of concentrating interest. Watch where you place your focus, re-train yourself to focus on what you want (not what you don’t want which creates fear and worry), refocus your vision, and clear away distractions that keep you from staying focused.
Moon in Capricorn square Mars in Libra: The emotional Moon in ambitious and organized Capricorn makes a tense square to stand-your-ground Mars in Libra, the sign of justice and fairness for all. Time to take your emotional frustrations to the streets in organized action, a major theme in 2018 as many more citizens choose to stand up for all that needs protection.
Vesta in Libra square Ceres in Cancer: Vesta in Libra is interested in the security and safety as is Ceres in Cancer. The square indicates actions need to be taken to protect families, women, children, animals, our food supply, our Earth, our at-risk democratic principles.
Fri December 22
Mercury in sidereal Scorpio turns direct: Mercury turned inward at its retrograde on December 3 and now begins to look outward again. As this particular cycle encompassed both the signs of Sagittarius (seeking truth and bringing things to the light) and Scorpio (digging deep to discover buried secrets not yet brought to light), much is being uncovered, exposed on our national stage. Even though Mercury now turns to forward motion (time to act), it will still be plodding its way through probing Scorpio until January 7, 2018, revealing secrets, exposing lies. This also indicates your thoughts still have a tinge of depth, even darkness at times, so use your tools to avoid becoming despondent or depressed.
Moon/South Lunar Node conjunction in Capricorn: This is a finishing-up aspect, like tying up loose ends on business dealings. You might complete a care-giving role, possibly released due to circumstances surrounding those you have cared for.
Sat December 23
Moon in Aquarius sextile Venus/Sun/Saturn/ in Sagittarius: This is a pleasant aspect all around as the friendship Moon in Aquarius makes exciting connections with Venus (love interests, heart-felt connections), Sun (sunny disposition) and Saturn (let’s make it happen through solidifying actions).
Sun December 24
Jupiter in sidereal Libra square the Lunar Nodes: Jupiter is a slow-moving planet, taking 12 years to journey through the constellations. So when it makes contact with the Lunar Nodes (completions/new beginnings), we are reaching a major turning point, in this case, surrounding issues of justice and relationships, Libra’s domains. Some people’s internal morality can shift, choosing to become more open, fair and kind to others.
Moon/Neptune conjunction in Aquarius: Aquarius can be an accepting friend to everyone or want to stand apart from the crowd and mainstream, so both are options today. Messages or signs are trying to reach you from your future timeline, possibly through an unusual encounter with a stranger or new friend, so stay alert.
Mon December 25
Venus/Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius: We start today on this more serious note as Venus (what you love and value) makes it’s annual conjunction to Saturn (feelings of seriousness, limitations, pessimism, and being focused). For some, this might feel like you didn’t get what you had asked for in terms of gifts (if that is part of your tradition), or you might feel lacking in love and support. This can lead to frank conversations or create a desire to be alone. Saturn loves traditions and elders, so expressions of honoring both will be refined and beautifully expressed.
Moon/Chiron conjunction: The inherent tension of the First Quarter Moon, which occurs early tomorrow morning, is ramping up tonight. This aspect supports raw and real conversations, ample tears flowing for some, or feeling like an outsider in your own family gatherings. No judgment, just stay present to what is arising, naturally releasing, which always clear the decks for further healing.

First Quarter Moon
“Simply Here” poem and paintings by Trea Christopher Grey
Here’s a list of the First Quarter Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza ~ www.lunarplanner.com
“The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Now is the time to drop all hesitation and take the steps to move forth on what you were inspired about…it is time to now participate in trust and knowing. Trust in the process. Demonstrate this trust in physical action and you will be supported. This time is stressful or traumatic only if action is ignored. Simply, this phase is a time to work.”
Tue December 26
First Quarter Moon: Moon in Pisces square Sun in Sagittarius: This aspect highlights differences between head and heart. It can feel like someone is trying to coach you back to optimism when you just want to wallow a bit longer in your sense of grief, even victimhood. Or, conversely, those who are too disconnected from their feelings might get a wake up call from someone close confronting them about their emotional carelessness, even heartlessness.
Moon in Pisces quintile Mars in Libra: This aspect mirrors the above one in terms of possibility for emotional confrontation in relationship, calling for subtle adjustments needed if you want things/relationships to continue.
Wed December 27
Mars in Libra trine Neptune in Aquarius: This energetic, supportive trine between action-oriented, movement-loving Mars and imaginative, compassionate Neptune supports you taking action to help those around, or ask for help, especially in regards to humanitarian or community service. It’s perfect for a long stroll with a friend discussing emerging dreams and ideas.
Moon/Uranus/Pallas Athene conjunction: Creative breakthroughs, volatile emotions, sudden turns of events are possible under this alignment. You can feel rebellious, skip class or an appointment, following the urge to be more spontaneous.
Thu December 28
Mercury in Scorpio trine North Lunar Node in Cancer: This aspect offers incisive, decisive thinking about your next steps, and supports a positive turning point in our current scandal-filled news cycle.
Moon in Aries opposite Mars in Libra: This aspect is like a tennis match ~ competitive, energetic, combative, desiring to beat your perceived opponent. Tempers are short, sparks fly, fuses are overloaded. You get the picture. On the other hand, this deeply passionate aspect can create playful sparring in relationships.
Fri December 29
Moon in Aries opposite Vesta in Libra: When the Moon transits Aries each month, you can feel more courageous, more independent, feel called to a leadership role. Find a way to focus those desires in helping another become more focused in their independence and leadership, much like the wise coach guiding the younger student.
Sat December 30
Moon in Taurus opposite Mercury in Scorpio: Time to focus on your finances, perhaps? This is a good day to get caught up. There’s a great stubbornness to this opposition which can lead to Taurean head-butting and Scorpion word-stinging.
Sun December 31
Moon in Taurus: It’s cosmically cool that tomorrow, the first day of the Gregorian calendar year of 2018, there will be a Full Moon to launch the New Year. Today’s mild and supportive aspects of the nurturing Taurus Moon to home-body Ceres in Cancer and diversity-appreciating Uranus in Pisces bodes well for harmony in the home to finish out this year. It gets wild again tomorrow, so rest up today. Joyful Full Moon/New Year tomorrow to you and yours and our planet.
