New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Taurus
“Mourning Cloak Butterfly” painting by Sharon Guenther
Welcome to the next SolLunar cycle! Sun and Moon meet up sidereal Taurus, indicating the upcoming month-long cycle is all about focusing on the physical dimensions of our lives and relationships. This New Moon is closely aligned with Ceres, a dwarf planet which encourages us to discover the things that truly nurture us, be it food, people, places, activities. Throw out the old and embrace the new in this dynamic SolLunar cycle.
On May 28-29, Mars and Saturn face off in an extremely tense opposition. Grrrr+ouch=grouch, which is how you might feel in the coming week as this once-every-two-years event can lead to increased tension, bullying and fighting (we already see that on the rise), stress levels skyrocketing, depression, feelings of being trapped. On the upside, you can become a forceful activist to a cause you care deeply about, feel enhanced focus and discipline, and make decisions to alleviate long-standing inaction and stagnation.
This might help explain the current global tensions: Saturn has been making a rare conjunction with Ixion, a minor planet associated with tyrants and authoritarians. This is one reason the current despotic so-called leaders think they can dominate the masses. Thankfully, many are rising up, standing up, and will not allow this totalitarian consciousness to rule our world. This is all preparation for the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse of August 21.
I am highlighting the paintings of my dear friend, Sharon Guenther, for this SolLunar Cycle. You can view and order more of her captivating artwork and products at Rosehip Design Studio. Read Sharon’s Artist Statement at the end of this post. Thank you, beloved Sharon.

Please send me an email if that interests you. Thank you!

Here is a list of New Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza from LunarPlanner:
“Beginning the Sprouting Phase of the Lunar Cycle, a new theme emerges, a new idea or concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. Often this process is one of discovery, slowly revealing a simple theme over a day or two, or it may be quite clear and specific, even suggesting a major life change. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation or a quite walk—to go within self and listen.”

New SolLunar cycle in Taurus: Sun and Moon meet up sidereal Taurus, indicating the upcoming month-long cycle is about focusing on the physical dimensions of our lives and relationships. This New Moon is closely aligned with Ceres, a dwarf planet which encourages us to discover the things that truly nurture us, be it food, people, places, activities. It’s an ideal four week period to complete real estate deals, contemplate moving or actually move to a new location, revamp your health habits, spend extra-long pleasurable hours in the garden. Throw out the old and embrace the new in this dynamic SolLunar cycle.
Venus in Pisces square Pluto in Sagittarius: This aspect can deconstruct your old values and desires and help you honestly claim deeper longings and choices that been bubbling up since the recent Venus retrograde cycle of March/April. For some, this aspect marks the end of a relationship.
Fri May 26
Venus/Pallas Athene conjunction in Pisces: This highly creative aspect is exceptional for designing anything, bringing order and beauty to your scene. It’s a perfect day to make a vision board or visualize your future creations in vivid detail so the Universe is clear about what to deliver to you.
Moon/Mars conjunction opposite Saturn: This forceful aspect enhances willpower but can also lead to angry confrontations. Be aware of subconscious frustrations that might be rising to the surface, seeking expression.
Sat May 27
Mercury in Aries quincunx Jupiter retrograde in Virgo: Mercury, the Messenger, makes good on that promise today, bringing you an insight to help you make an adjustment to an upcoming plan or trip that will ultimately make things flow more smoothly. The message might be a flash or sudden knowing, a serendipitous posting on social media or arrive via other communication outlets. Confirm reservations you have already made, just to be safe.
Sun May 28
Mars opposite Saturn/Ixion: On May 28-29, Mars and Saturn face off in an extremely tense opposition. Grrrr+ouch=grouch, which is how you might feel in the coming week as this once-every-two-years event can lead to increased tension, fighting and bullying, stress levels skyrocketing, depression, feelings of being trapped. On the upside, you can become a forceful activist to a cause you care deeply about, feel enhanced focus and discipline, and finally make decisions to alleviate long-standing inaction and stagnation.
This might help explain the current global tensions: Saturn has been making a rare conjunction with Ixion, a minor planet associated with tyrants and authoritarians. This is one reason the current despotic so-called leaders think they can dominate the masses. Thankfully, many will rise up, stand up, and not allow this totalitarian consciousness to rule the world.
Mercury in Aries sextile Neptune in Aquarius: This lovely pairing is imaginative, compassionately caring. Risk starting up a conversation with someone you have been too shy to approach.
Moon in Gemini opposite Juno/Pluto conjunction: Communications with important colleagues run the gamut of shallow and fun (Gemini) to deep and probing (Pluto). Helpful bits of information will surface today in regards to key relationships, helping you decide a course of action.
Mon May 29
Moon/Vesta conjunction in Cancer: You might decide to return home early from Memorial Day festivities with this home-seeking, nesting aspect.
Tue May 30
Mars in Gemini sextile Uranus in Aries: This can lead to good kind of sparks in all activities and interactions. Uranus always breaks with tradition and values independence and being one of a kind. Some may suddenly get a tattoo or dye their hair a shocking color. Own up to your own quirks and make your own trend-setting fashion statement.
Mercury in Aries trine Juno in Sagittarius: There is ease in communications between colleagues and beloveds with this delightful trine.
Moon in Cancer square Mercury in Aries: Squares encourage honesty and taking action. The moody Moon in Cancer might resist direct confrontation or a suddenly blurted comment can hurt someone’s feelings.
Wed May 31
Moon/North Lunar Node in Leo: A feeling of joy about what lies ahead might envelope you today.
First Quarter Moon
“Heart of Stone” painting by Sharon Guenther
Here’s a list of the First Quarter Moon characteristics compliments of my friend/sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza ~ www.lunarplanner.com
“The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Now is the time to drop all hesitation and take the steps to move forth on what you were inspired about…it is time to now participate in trust and knowing. Trust in the process. Demonstrate this trust in physical action and you will be supported. This time is stressful or traumatic only if action is ignored. Simply, this phase is a time to work.”
Thu June 1
First Quarter Moon: Moon in Leo squares Sun in Taurus: The playful, child-like Leo Moon squares off with productive Sun in Taurus, forcing you to choose between work or play. Or….. maybe find a way to both work and play, today. That would be the best choice.
Fri June 2
Ceres in Taurus square Neptune in Aquarius: You can use the productivity of this aspect to bring creative order to your space/s. A friend might need your help and you have to decide if you can make it work without stressing yourself. Sometimes you have the extra energy to give, and it’s okay, too, if you don’t.
Mars in Gemini square Chiron in Pisces: Aspects to Chiron are often about healing or fixing something. Today’s square to energized, multi-tasking Mars in Gemini is well-suited to running many errands (including helping others), and completing tasks, jobs that have been piling up.
Moon in Virgo square Mars in Gemini: Similar to the above aspect, procrastination ceases today with the hard-working, helpful Virgo Moon.
Sat June 3
Sun trine Jupiter: Wonderful news! Two of our bright luminaries form a helpful trine, creating a field of optimism, abundance and faith. It’s a good luck kind of day, providing you allow yourself to believe and experience the goodness and beneficence of the world.
Venus/Uranus conjunction in Aries: This annual conjunction can bring surprising good news or manifest as a sudden turning of your heart in a new direction. Break with your old routines and try something new. Choose spontaneity today.
Sun June 4
Sun in Taurus square Neptune in Aquarius: This action-producing square supports taking concrete physical steps to bring your dream down to Earth. It also pits imagination with practicality, so you may have to modify your plan so as to fit your budget now.
Mon June 5
Sun/Ceres conjunction in Taurus: This nurturing, food-based, environmentally-concerned conjunction can bring out the best of your caregiving skills. It symbolizes a rich cornucopia of abundance coming your way and activates a desire to share your abundance with others. Pet adoption agencies, real estate, healthcare and restaurant professionals are extremely busy today.
Moon in Libra opposite Venus in Aries: An opposition between relational Libra and independent Aries often creates a standoff as to how to complete a task. Aries moves quickly, Libra is more thoughtful and concerned about how an action might affect others.
Tue June 6
Uranus in Aries trine North Node in Aries: Good news, forward momentum, a positive turn of events are possibilities with this aspect.
Moon in Libra trine Neptune in Aquarius: This aspect brings kindness, graciousness and care in how you express yourself to others today.
Wed June 7
Moon in Scorpio opposite Mercury in Taurus: A good day to attend to your finances, business dealings and details. It also creates an intensity and probing in communications to get to the bottom of something.
Thu June 8
Moon in Scorpio opposite Ceres in Taurus: This aspect is similar to yesterday’s polarizing one. It is investigative, so great for researching things or uncovering secrets about undisclosed details (read contracts carefully). We are gearing up for tomorrow morning’s Full Moon so sleep may be challenged tonight. Decide to stay up late or do what it takes to calm yourself before falling into the dreamtime.

Artist Statement for Sharon Guenther “I have been drawing and painting since I was a child in Brooklyn, New York. Although I grew up in the city, whenever the opportunity to be outdoors in a park, at a farm or by the sea, I tingled with enjoyment. I began noticing birds and flowers and bugs and animals when I was very young, and perhaps because I was a city kid, surrounded by concrete and tall buildings, those small and intimate glimpses of nature, influenced the way I “see” the natural world. I consider my paintings and drawings as intimate portraits of nature.”
