Spring Equinox ~ Last Quarter Moon
“Winter gives way to spring” photograph by Lyn Dalebout
It’s of interest to me that this year’s initiating Spring Equinox (when our life-giving Sun is halfway on it’s journey to reaching the northernmost turn-around point of Summer Solstice) occurs under the phase of the Last Quarter Moon. This phase means it’s time to complete the lessons/projects of the past and begin to turn your attention toward the next wave of creation to be launched with the New Moon of March 27. Perhaps this also means that 2017 will be a combination of completing your old life story, and launching a new dynamic Book of Possibilities. Also, on March 25, when Venus retrograde meets up with the Sun, she initiates her phase as the Morning Star, not yet visible for a few weeks, but this transit can be experienced as a profound internal shift.
Life is a result of dreaming, planning, serendipity and miracles. Each of us has a different way we manifest in this physical dimension, some require more planning, while others leave life up to chance and surprise. One key to success and joy is to know your personal combination of these qualities that make you feel both safe but also adventurous. Give this a try as part of spring’s fertile awakening: Think of changing up just one habit that you know is outworn, makes you feel trapped or bored, and watch a whole new field of energy and possibility open up within and around you.

Here is a description of the qualities of the Last Quarter Moon phase compliments of my friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. A sense of completion comes forth with a recognition that the past scenario has served its purpose and it is time to leave what is antiquated behind. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”
Note: I write my posts according to the Lunar cycles, posting on the New, First Quarter, Full and Third Quarter Moons. If you work with and within the natural flow of time, the 13 Moon cycle, your life will flow with more ease and grace. My interpretations and predictions are based on the true sidereal astronomical alignments. Spring is here, Bears are near! Here’s one of my favorite Grizzlies and her cubs from 2013 as they emerged from their spring den. I got lucky that morning when they crossed the road right where I was parked. Excited to see what new cubs will be born this year!

Spring Equinox ~ Last Quarter Moon: Moon/Saturn in Sagittarius square Sun in Pisces: There can be a more serious or stern tone today given Saturn’s influence. This is a great time to be more decisive, using today’s energy to commit to move forward with your plan or to clear away the last obstacles to your forward momentum. And remember, this theme today will be mirrored all year long as part of this year’s cosmic creative cycle. It will be a year of taking conscious action, calculated risks, standing your ground, re-creating the infrastructures of your life. Saturn isn’t bad. It just seems to show up as the need to make conscious choices, or they will be made for you. Saturn governs the birth cycle (nine month transits) which can feel like a painful process to some or joyful fulfillment for others.
Tue March 21
Moon in Sagittarius aspects: Today the catalyst of our Moon in truth-telling Sagittarius makes a series of interesting connections. It first hooks up with Juno, asteroid that symbolizes our key partnerships, indicating forthright communications or hot-tempered exchanges are happening. The Moon also makes a challenging square to Mercury in sensitive Pisces, so some are extra-emotional about what is being said. A helpful trine to nurturing Ceres can help clear up the aftermath, supporting a desire to make sure all parties feel listened to and cared for.
Wed March 22
Moon in Capricorn sextile Sun/Pallas Athene in Pisces: The relative calm and sunshine of today’s aspect precedes tomorrow’s potential storm clouds. Explore rest and relaxation in some form today.
Thu March 23
Pallas Athene in Pisces square Saturn in Sagittarius: This decisive aspect is about committing to a course of action, a new creative project, a different strategy. This can also create tension between co-creative partners. Differences need to be addressed, perhaps heading back to the drawing board.
Moon in Capricorn square Mars in Aries: Similar to the above aspect, this one has more potential for an actual fight or stand off, given the nature of controlling Capricorn and independent Aries. When Moon and Mars clash in a square, people are naturally more fired up to express their passions and truths.
Mercury in Pisces square Pluto in Sagittarius: We aren’t done yet. This square calls forth our emotional depths, what we REALLY feel about a situation. Like a cleansing thunderstorm of tears, some of you just can’t hold something in or back, anymore.
Fri March 24
Moon in Capricorn trine Jupiter in Virgo: This makes for a productive day, for those who need to be organized on the job, and can also bring serendipitous support from a surprising place.
Sun/Venus retrograde conjunction: This aspect is exact tomorrow but use it’s magic and gift by asking guidance (if you are in need) from your Guides or set intentions to receive an explanatory helpful dream tonight as you are falling asleep.
Sat March 25
Sun/Venus retrograde conjunction in sidereal Pisces: As Venus crosses the face of our Sun, she now enters the phase called the Morning Star, but won’t be visible to us at dawn for a another few weeks. Nonetheless, you are making a shift in deep internal ways now, moving out of an old cycle of creativity and into a brand new field of dreams. For some it might be obvious what choices you are facing, for others, you might just have a sense that you have shed a skin and don’t yet know what is emerging. Venus remains retrograde until April 15, so work on patience and being at peace to allow the natural flow of newness to emerge in it’s own time and space. Focus on self-care during this retrograde cycle. Or discover the joys of moving more slowly, more consciously, reconstructing the rhythm of your day.
Moon/South Lunar Node in Aquarius: It’s a great day to meet up with an old friend, or have one appear magically out of the blue. That’s because the South Lunar Node is often linked to our history and past relationships. Or make a point of introducing an old friend to a new one and discover common ground. You might find yourself reflecting on something unresolved from a past encounter.
Sun March 26
Mercury/Uranus conjunction in Pisces: This exceptionally brilliant alignment links your mind and ideas (Mercury) with the planet of genius and breakthroughs, Uranus. Try a new tack in how you are approaching something, take a risk and reach out to someone you’ve avoided, or make space for day-dreaming so as not to miss incoming inspiration arriving in shocking, surprising ways. You might also find yourself blurting something you’ve long-held within.
Mercury enters sidereal Aries: The merging, emotional mind of Mercury in Pisces gives way now to independent, initiatory Aries for the coming weeks. This lends courage to your mind, to what you believe, and to take risks in communicating what you really mean. It helps bust through mental stagnation, releasing an old idea way of seeing something that is no longer helpful, but actually hurtful.
Moon/Chiron conjunction in Pisces: Tomorrow is a New Moon, which means today, the current SolLunar cycle is completing in emotional, relaxing, exhausted-from-giving Pisces. Today is more about being, rather than doing. Rest and honor your tiredness or need for quiet, if that is what you feel. As the day comes to a close, the alignment of Moon with healing Chiron might manifest as a mini-meltdown or sense of increased sensitivity or vulnerability about life or someone you care about.
