Last Quarter Moon
“Snowy Spirit Grizzly Cub” photograph by Doug Monson
The grief is palpable here in Grand Teton National Park with the tragic hit and run death of our Snowy Spirit cub, now a holy spirit guiding us. This golden-faced Grizzly was the solo cub of 399, often called the world’s most famous Grizzly. Two weeks ago, I posted 399 chasing Blondie at the First Quarter Moon, a week that can often involve a crisis turning point. This was sadly to be the case for 399.
May we transform our deep sadness for the loss of another young Grizzly, caused by human actions, to catalyze further activism to stop delisting of the Greater Yellowstone Grizzly Bear population. Pursue any and all actions you feel pulled to do to protect our wildlife from the challenges and dangers of these times. They require our help, more than ever.
Do this, in honor of 399, her grief, and for this little one, who died too soon.
Thank you, Doug, for this portrait of beloved Snowy Spirit, that truly captures his being. You can see other photographs of 399 and Snowy Spirit and the end of this post from Richard Sprately.

This week, one of the most important astrological events of 2016 takes place on June 29, when, thankfully, Mars turns direct from it’s brutal retrograde period from the underworld (aka hell) which started April 17. In addition, Uranus enters sidereal Aries, aligned with the disrupting influence of the asteroid of Eris. The whole point of this aspect is to change up your habits, from the smallest daily routine to the the larger strategic plan of your life. Experimentation is the name of this game.
My Summer Solstice discounts on all my readings , including mini-readings, end on July 1. Send me an email if you are interested. Thank you!

Here is a description of the qualities of the Last Quarter Moon phase compliments of my friend and sidereal colleague, Nick Anthony Fiorenza at Lunar Planner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. A sense of completion comes forth with a recognition that the past scenario has served its purpose and it is time to leave what is antiquated behind. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”
Please note: I make my posts according to the SolLunar cycles, posting on the New, First Quarter, Full and Last Quarter Moons. My hope is to support you to work with and within the natural flow of time, the Thirteen Moons of each year, which can help your life manifest with more ease and grace. Also, I base my interpretations and predictions on the true sidereal astronomical alignments. You can read about my unique way of interpreting astrology at Sidereal Astrology.

Last Quarter Moon: Moon in Pisces square Sun in Gemini: Due to the two other aspects happening today, this turning point Last Quarter Moon is particularly dynamic. You might be feeling more emotional, even confused, out of challenges that have taken place in the past months, even years. Don’t be surprised if grief or contemplation of losses rise up, overwhelming you with tears. “Converse with others”, says the Sun in inquisitive, communicative Gemini. You will discover you are not alone.
Uranus enters sidereal Aries: Uranus (shocks, breakthroughs, disruption, unconformity, following your true authentic heart) enters Aries (sign of independence, leadership, and enlightenment). Uranus is currentlly conjunct the planetary object of Eris, called the Great Disrupter, so the catalyzing, even catastrophic nature of these times is not ending anytime soon.
The key to surviving, even thriving in this wild time, will be to live even more fully in your present moment. That is where some semblance of security and safety will be found. Aries is about taking care of yourself, but not in the way of selfishness that bullies or grabs from others. It’s about living true to the core of your internal Light. Sidereal Aries is about enlightenment, which is always compassionate, cooperative (not competitive) and infinitely loving toward all of creation. Many more humans WILL awaken to this Light, as Uranus transits Aries for many years to come. In this, I trust.
Chiron turns retrograde: One of Chiron’s teachings is called the rainbow bridge, which my friend, Nick Anthony Fiorenza, describes perfectly: “Chiron can indicate where a bridge is to be created and crossed, either from established, structured and crystallized patterns (Saturn) to radical new possibilities (Uranus), or to bring new discoveries and new levels of consciousness into concretized form.” Chiron continues to help us become more whole in surprising ways, opening hearts, inspiring bolder actions. During it’s several month retrograde, we will continue this work of ‘making whole’ our family of humanity. The rainbow, Chiron’s symbol, is also associated with the LGBT cause and community, and it is equally a symbol of the coming Aquarian age, where humans and all of creation will consciously celebrate the diversity and beauty of many colors of humanity.

Moon/Uranus/Ceres/Eris conjunction in Aries: The whole point of this aspect is linked to changing up your habits, from the smallest daily routine to the the larger strategic plan of your life. Experimentation is the name of this game. You will be supported if you take a risk, a leap of faith.
Wed June 29
MARS TURN DIRECT: This is something to capitalize! It happens around 5:30 pm MST. This important turning point can bring to completion one of the more challenging times in recent memory. Mars (planetary ruler of taking action, fighting, internalizing frustrations leading to depression, activism, standing your ground, acting with new courage) has been transiting sidereal Scorpio (sign that governs both the portals of death and birth, power, shared finances, old-soul wisdom, diving deep into our darkest places). This deeply cleansing and exposing transit has been reaming out and and releasing what longer serves you. There is no hiding, anywhere, from this rare retrograde of Mars in Scorpio. Chances are, some part of you has died to your former life, right?
This Mars retrograde period actually started mid-February, and will complete by the end of August. So think back to what you set in motion, mid-winter. Thankfully, today, as Mars now turns toward the future, you can move more confidently into the next chapter of your interesting life.
Thu June 30
Grand Trine/Kite in Fire: This highly creative and integrative aspect might involve taking an emotional risk (Moon in Aries), feel a lift of confidence (Jupiter in Leo), spark a desire to act on your go-it-alone truth (Pluto in Sagittarius), and communicate your heart’s desires (Venus in Gemini). May you experience this spectacularly uplifting dynamic internally and externally.
Balsamic Moon: Balsamic, like the vinegar, means old, aged. During this monthly phase of the Moon, we are meant to coalesce what we have learned in the previous SolLunar cycle, bringing things to completion, and preparing for the coming New Moon. Your deeper wisdom will bubble up if you give yourself time and space for listening.
Fri July 1
Venus in Gemini sextile Jupiter in Leo: You might receive optimistic news today, especially in regards to financial issues as the Moon is currently transiting Taurus. Follow your curiosity by taking an art class, or strike up a conversation with someone you find intriguing.
Sat July 2
Sun in Gemini trine Neptune in Aquarius: This harmonious aspect creates networks of collaboration and community, is highly communicative and information-seeking. Become more informed about an upcoming trip or a new interest you are considering. Remember, experimentation, curiosity, travel, is what the Universe is supporting on Earth at this time.
Moon/Vesta conjunction in Taurus: The practical Taurus Moon aligns with focusing Vesta. Focus on finances. Focus on body. Focus on the garden. Focus on Earth. Some of you may feel stubbornly determined to play it safe, at least for today. That’s okay!
Sun July 3
Moon/Mercury conjunction in Gemini: This makes for a busy, busy day on this last day of the dying SolLunar cycle. Travel, talking, storytelling, emoting, gossiping are all part of today’s gregarious alignment, as well as multi-tasking or feeling scattered. Writing in your journal can help you sort through the many incoming messages, as you prepare for some type of rebirth with tomorrow’s New Moon.
