Last Quarter Moon
“Yellowstone’s Turquoise” photo by Lyn Dalebout
I took a trek to beloved Yellowstone to mark the completion of the historic Jupiter/Saturn square on May 26 (see last week’s Star Signposts for information). It is always a place I find solace and source wisdom, even in spite of the summer crowds. I hope you, too, are finding a way to connect regularly with the stability of Earth. That practice will help you navigate the wobbly, at times, aggressive instability of our human condition at this time.
If you haven’t yet noticed bright red Mars glaring down on us in the evening hours, be sure to get out there to see it. I swear it is getting brighter and redder with each passing night. It looks like a shining regal ruby or an angry boil about to burst. Both metaphors and interpretations are true in terms of what this current Mars retrograde cycle is mirroring in our world.
Use this week of the Last Quarter Moon for sorting through that which you no longer need and actually take the stuff to goodwill, or the dump. That includes intangible things, like outworn thoughts or destructive emotions. If you do this, you will enter the Next SolLunar cycle on June 4th with the energy of a fresh start.
Lastly, I am now offering my Summer Solstice discounts on all my readings till the end of June, as well as mini-sessions to aid you in navigating this challenging Mars retrograde. Send me an email if you are interested. Thank you.

Here is a description of the qualities of the Last Quarter Moon phase compliments of my friend and sidereal colleague Nick Anthony Fiorenza Lunar Planner:
“This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. A sense of completion comes forth with a recognition that the past scenario has served its purpose and it is time to leave what is antiquated behind. Step forth from old facades, and free yourself from past ways of participating in life. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.”
Please note: I make my posts according to the SolLunar cycles, posting on the New, First Quarter, Full and Last Quarter Moons. My hope is to support you to work with and within the natural flow of time, the Thirteen Moons of each year, which can help your life flow with more ease and grace. Also, I base my interpretations and predictions on the true sidereal astronomical alignments. You can read about my unique way of interpreting astrology at Sidereal Astrology.

Sun May 29
Last Quarter Moon: Moon in Aquarius square Sun in Taurus: This Last Quarter Moon is chock full of powerful, collaborative aspects. The friendly, group-minded Moon in Aquarius is aligned with imaginative, water-loving Neptune and activates earthy, sensual Taurus. It’s a great day to get out for some social fun on the water, hike with friends, visit art galleries, or create art yourself. The Moon also triggers joyful Jupiter and focused Saturn. All these planetary alignments create what is called a Grand Square in astrology, an aspect of exceptional manifestation or challenging tension. Somehow this one feels full of promise, like it will deliver the goods, relationships, dreams you have been desiring for a long time.
Mon May 30
Mercury in Aries trine Pluto in Sagittarius: Potent ideas are being birthed and the mind is being cleansed of faulty beliefs or self-doubts under this mentally sunny aspect. Our mental health has been challenged by many aspects already in 2016, pressuring us to seek help or discover daily tools to keep our minds stable, calm, centered so we can greet the joys and challenges of each day with optimism and trust. Just like we need to exercise our bodies to stay healthy, having a daily mental health practice is equally important. Initiate one today.
Moon/Chiron conjunction in Pisces: A cleansing wash of healing tears, that’s a theme whenever the emotional Moon aligns with healing-of-wounds, Chiron. It’s an excellent day to spend time in or near water, immersed in the flow and relaxation water brings to our thirsty souls. A conversation centered on forgiveness may occur.
Tue May 31
Moon in Pisces sextile Sun/Venus/Vesta: This restful, easy aspect assists you in staying focused on what you have to do, but doing it in a relaxed manner. You can accomplish just as much by staying present in the moment, focusing on one task at a time, versus worrying about all that needs to be done. Contemplate the difference between a ‘human doing’ or a ‘human being’. Finding that balance is unique to each of us. Discover your fulcrum of balance today.
Wed June 1
Mercury in Aries trine North Lunar Node in Leo: Your bright idea takes another step forward, possibly by a lucky communication with another or because a more positive mind-set magically appears. You know how somedays you just wake up with a good attitude? Today can be such a day.
Moon/Ceres/Uranus conjunction in Pisces: This watery aspect can call forth a sudden outburst of grief or compassion for suffering you see in the world or are experiencing in your own life. This is a very forgiving aspect. The practice of loving-kindness, toward self and others, is easier today.
Thu June 2
Moon in Aries ignites Grand Trine in Fire: This light-hearted, fiery, forceful aspect fills us with optimism and mental clarity. This sky blessing, if utilized, can help us cope with the more challenging, serious Sun/Saturn opposition that is building tonight, becoming exact in the wee hours of tomorrow morning. These two aspects in tandem might keep you up very late, completing a project that has filled you with inspiration.
Fri June 3
Sun in Taurus opposite Saturn in Scorpio: Mothers know that birth can be both painful and joyful, all at once. That is the gift of Saturn, a planet that teaches us how to birth a baby, a dream, a new life. Under the auspices of the annual Sun/Saturn polarity, in the financial signs of Taurus/Scorpio, it’s time to sign contracts, deepen commitments in relationships, or feel a heavy certainty of what must be done to move forward. The last day of a completing SolLunar cycle is normally a day better meant for rest and doing nothing, Not today, not this time. Your hard work today will pay off in the near future.
Venus in Taurus opposite Saturn in Scorpio: This aspect is a ditto of the one above, as Venus rules our wealth, our love, our artistic expression.
