Sounding
“Great Whale” detail of painting by Sue Ewald Cedarholm
Sometimes I cannot write these Signposts within the timeline of the Gregorian weekly calendar due to the more pressing Galactic calendar. That’s what I’ll be doing this time around as we head into a challenging dynamic period. Saturn will turn retrograde on Saturday, March 14, and most importantly we reach the exact completion of the historic and challenging Uranus/Pluto square on Monday, March 16. In addition, Mars will make a once-every-two year conjunction with Uranus and square Pluto, further lurching you out of your comfort zone, either by choice or necessity. And finally, last week’s Sun/Chiron conjunction (re-read last week’s Signposts to refresh your memory if you need to) is still very much in play, meaning you may feel very vulnerable, hypersensitive in your emotions or senses. I never like giving harsh news in these star weather reports, but, honestly, you may experience a bit of an ouch this week at some point.
One of the definitions of the word ‘sounding’ is ‘information or evidence ascertained as a preliminary step before deciding a course of action’. We are most definitely being taught how to use our unique sonar to help us navigate through this astounding time of shift, discovering deeper and deeper levels of talents and desires, and also uncovering our darker shadows and our shimmering, even blinding Light.
Please note: I use the true sidereal astronomical alignments in my predictions. You can read about my unique way of interpreting astrology at this link:

Mon March 9
Mercury in Aquarius: The planetary ruler of our thought patterns and communication systems is now in revolutionary, innovative, quirky Aquarius. This is your chance, for the next few weeks, to move beyond your limiting thought-forms and belief systems and truly explore a more positive way to interact with your world, and all your relations.
Moon in Libra square Juno in Cancer: This aspect might make for honest conversations about decisions that need to be made or actions required to shift things proactively within your core relationships.
Tue March 10
Venus in Pisces sextile Vesta in Capricorn: This aspect might bring good financial news into your world today. Venus ~ ruler of love/personal finance/art ~ forms an exciting sextile to Vesta in Capricorn ~ professional investments/determined to succeed ~ supporting you in making wise decisions or just being open to receiving a gift. And of course, working on your taxes is another good choice!
Libra Moon trine Aquarius Sun: When both Sun and Moon form a positive trine in astrological Air signs, stimulating conversations arise and there is an increased need to communicate to everyone. It’s a great day seek out new collaborative partners.
Uranus/Mars conjunction square Pluto building: A timely warning…..here it comes, exact tomorrow, an explosive aspect, so beware of accidents, erratic behavior of others (I am sure you are the calm one, right?) and an over-stimulated nervous system. Tonight, before bed, chug the Chamomile or Tulsi tea, the Passionflower or Motherwort tincture, to mention a few calming herbal remedies, if you want to sleep. Otherwise, burn the midnight oil.
Wed March 11
Uranus/Mars conjunction in sidereal Pisces: Today might hold the ‘ouch’ I spoke of in my opening. Mars aligns with Uranus every other year, so this alignment carries a breakthrough, breakdown kind of energy. As both planets are in the Water sign of compassionate, caring, dreamy, addictive (a cautionary note) Pisces, a new creative directive might enter your consciousness. You might spontaneously book a seaside vacation or head to the hot springs spur of the moment.
Pluto/Mars square: This equally intense aspect shortly follows the above one. Both Mars and Pluto symbolize willfulness, understanding how power works, both abusively and constructively. This is the energetic of conflagration, so we might see more infernos erupting around the globe.
Saturn/Moon conjunction in Scorpio: Happening tonight, this once monthly alignment makes for a passing serious mood, focused conversation with an intimate, a subconscious fear about money temporarily taking hold. Don’t feed the freak out, instead nurture good decision-making going forward.
Thu March 12
Venus enters sidereal Aries: Our planetary ruler of love and creativity, Venus, transits into initiatory, risk-taking Aries. To me, this aspect feels like spring come early, like first bulbs breaking ground, like newborn animals taking their first peek at this wide world, and contemplating the courage it will take to venture beyond the safety of the den.
Grand Trine Moon in Scorpio/Mars in Pisces/Jupiter in Cancer: Cooperation amongst family members, even nation states, occurs more naturally today with this alignment. Also a great day to focus on how you want your current financial budget to mirror your choices going forward. Water, water everywhere with this aspect, so some of you might feel more emotional than usual, or at last be able to cry over something you’ve been holding within for too long.
Fri March 13
Moon/PallasAthene in Sagittarius: With this aspect, you may feel the sudden need to go back the drawing board to re-vision, re-strategize some project or arena of your life.
Saturn standing still: Gulp. The serious, leaden, focused planet of Saturn is virtually standing still in the heavens, and there can be a profound heaviness in our collective Field today. You might feel the need to collapse into a nap, so don’t fight it. Another good use of this energy today is to create a plan going forward of what you want to create in your life in 2015, remembering nothing is set in stone, but it’s good to have a least a few goals in mind, right?
Sat March 14
Saturn turns Retrograde: Everything I wrote about yesterday is still in play today. Saturn now will appear to transit backward through our heavens in relationship to Earth until August 2. Now you begin the serious but joyful work of deciding what needs to go and what needs to expand in your life in regards to your goals. Remember too a goal can just be to DO LESS and BE MORE, so I am not necessarily talking about frenetic activity and taking on more than you energetically want to handle. You might do some serious paring down over the coming months, so as to be living in healthier, calmer, more joyful ways. Saturn is the ruler of birth, as most of it’s transits last 9 months. Saturn is not a BAD planet, but often gets a bad rap. Saturn transits make us align more fully with what we most desire, and can support us in the desire and discipline to achieve make it happen.
Sun Mar 15
Moon in Sagittarius triggers Uranus/ Pluto/Mars: Blurting your truth in a dramatic, fiery, even dogmatic dialogue is one way today’s energies might manifest. Or channel this inferno into positive physical actions so as to avert an implosion or explosion.
Mercury in Aquarius square Saturn in Scorpio: This aspect forms late tonight and completes early tomorrow morning. This tends to make our thoughts take a more serious turn, even feeling a tad depressive. Or you might stay up late using your mental focus to finish taxes, write a proposal, brainstorm with a beloved.
Mon Mar 16
Uranus/Pluto square completes: Here’s what I wrote for the magazine Teton Spirit Connection ~ http://tetonspirit.com/ ~ about today’s truly historic transit: “Let’s celebrate today as we complete the final catalytic square of Uranus to Pluto. This long-range aspect began in June of 2012. Uranus in Pisces has brought more awakening to our hearts, emotional field, and released ancient grief and grievances. And Pluto in Sagittarius has seen a breakdown in old power structures and re-vitalized empowering alliances that will benefit all. This is a holy moment in our history of evolutionary awakening”.
In addition, it’s important to note that such a slow moving, long-ranging aspect will continue to profoundly influence our Earth and civilization for years to come. Uranus will continue to pull ahead of Pluto and further inspire compassionate activism, revolution and innovation, and the Field of Freedom expanding exponentially. This will not come easy and all will be called to some form of action appropriate to their life path and purpose.
