” El Sol II” painting by Sue Cedarholm
Overview
As one who studies the patterned language of planetary motion, I have been struck how our recent New Moons are exactly aligned with key planets, which is not always the case. This means the important, transformational shifts and events they indicate will be felt more profoundly by we Earthlings and Earth itself. The last two SolLunar Cycles of were linked with Jupiter — expansiveness — and the New Moon of February 20th will be exactly tied to Saturn — commitment. But this New SolLunar Cycle in astronomical Capricorn promises to be wild with unexpected surprises as it is conjunct evolutionary Pluto and happens as revolutionary Uranus turns direct from its retrograde of August 20 2022. And thankfully after Uranus turns direct, all major planets will be in forward motion through April, helping us launch more enthusiastically into 2023.
During this four-week period another major shift is Saturn finally leaves Capricorn and fully enters sidereal Aquarius until April 2025. This long-range transit will bring major futuristic shifts and astounding innovation to institutions, organizations, businesses and profound reformation regarding how we live in community and as global citizens.
I was in need of color for this post to counterbalance Wyoming’s winter white palette. Thank you my friend, Sue Cedarholm, for sharing these beautiful and impressionistic paintings from your time spent in Baja. You can view more of Sue’s artistic works here.
Sidereal Astrology Mentoring and Readings
My posts are based on the true astronomical alignments of the planets with the constellations, also referred to as the sidereal zodiac. I use the phases of the Moon as the scaffold for my posts because the Moon functions like an energetic portal mediating between the heavens and our wondrous Earth. My entries are based on the aspects occurring each week as they crescendo, crest and dissipate over the course of their influence. As you work with and within the natural flow of time and the supportive cosmic energies that each unique SolLunar Cycle brings, life can flow with more ease, grace and understanding.
I delight in mentoring students—individually, with families or groups, and via workshops and conferences—who want to learn more about how to use sidereal astrology as a helpful tool for insight and awakening. Consider booking a mini-reading with me for $44 or $88, the numbers of living your Mastery on Earth. In these short readings, I discuss key personal transits that are happening for you in 2022 and beyond. Send me an email if you are interested in those options, or a full Natal Map, Update, Relationship Map, Young Adult or Child’s Map. Thank you!

New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Capricorn: Sun/Moon/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn: Sat January 21 1:53 pm MT
As one who studies the patterned language of planetary motion, I have been struck how our recent New Moons are exactly aligned with key planets, which is not always the case. This means the important and transformational shifts and events they indicate will be felt more profoundly by we Earthlings and Earth itself. The last two SolLunar Cycles were linked with Jupiter — expansiveness — and the New Moon of February 20th will be exactly tied to Saturn — commitment. But this New SolLunar Cycle in astronomical Capricorn promises to be wild with unexpected surprises as it is conjunct evolutionary Pluto and happens as revolutionary Uranus is turning direct from its retrograde that began on August 20 2022. And after Uranus turns direct, all major planets will be in forward motion through April, helping us launch more enthusiastically into 2023.
The year of 2023 began with major retrogrades still happening which may have led to a feeling of exhaustion, lack of enthusiasm, not the the most dynamic way to start a new year. In contrast, this New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Capricorn, with both the Sun and Moon conjunct Pluto, sets the stage for pressure to move forward even amidst uncertainty, guided by your deeper intuition and knowing — the pitch black bushwhack, as a friend describes it. Pluto brings cathartic shifts, and also expresses as the relief and greater health that comes when we release situations or relationships that no longer serve our vitality. Pluto helps us get in touch with our power, how we are using it, abusing it or how we allow others to interfere with embodying our power. And as all this intensity is seeded at the New Moon, it is exciting that radical, risk-loving Uranus turns direct on January 22, promising to make this a dynamic four-week portal!

Uranus in Aries turns direct: Sun January 22
With this forward turning of wild Uranus, all major planets will be in direct motion through much of April, signaling we are ready, even pressured, to launch into this new year. With Uranus’s turning we can feel energetically more alive, awake, intuitive, ready to take a risk. Uranus can manifest as a shocking event or accident. It sparks the desire to bolt or take swift action without too much overthinking. Uranus guides us to live truly authentic lives, appreciating our diversity, quirkiness, curiosity. Yay, Uranus!

Jupiter/Juno conjunction in Pisces: Sun January 22
This longer range meet-up brings expansive alliances into our lives. It helps us celebrate and honor the powerful elders we love who have passed in recent months, as these completions of life have been part of Jupiter’s year-long transit through letting-go Pisces, still in effect through mid-April. More elders may choose to leave under this spiritual transit.
This crescendos Sun January 15, crests Sun January 22, dissipates Friday January 27.
Venus/Saturn annual conjunction in Capricorn: Sun January 22
This serious-toned annual conjunction encourages decision-making about love, creative goals, financial decisions. With Saturn, it can feel hard to let something go but you know the time has come to face reality head on. Or it is time to commit and sign up for something new. Saturn re-enters sidereal Aquarius: Tue January 24
Saturn briefly entered astronomical Aquarius at the end of May 2022 and now returns until April 2025. There’s an innate tension with this transit as Saturn often prefers the status-quo or values of the past while Aquarius is all about evolution and revolutions of the future. This transit can be polarizing in society for some but for those who choose to use Saturn to give birth to new conditions — its higher purpose — it will also bring futuristic shifts and astounding innovation to institutions, organizations, businesses as well as profound reformation regarding how we live in community and as global citizens.
