Overview
Touch-and-go. This phrase came to mind to describe my oftentimes emotional state of 2022, a year of enormous transition as I move my home base back to Wyoming after an eleven-year seasonal walkabout between the American Southwest and the Tetons of Wyoming. That wonderful traveling phase of having two homes is done and I want to land and be more settled again.
The dictionary definition of touch-and-go is this: “an outcome, especially one that is desired, is possible, but very uncertain.” The continual uncertainty of this year with a sense of being ungrounded, hoping to find my actual home has felt very touch-and-go. Will my home come, how many more mini-moves can I physically and emotionally withstand given how exhausted I have felt? At times, in my emotional and physical bodies, I had a visceral fear I would careen backward off the edge of an embankment. The fear was falling backward, never forward, which I found interesting. I pay attention to these small alerts arising from my cells and intuition. I wasn’t truly worried I would go over the edge, but I made note of how vulnerable I was and took actions to rest more and to move with caution and care. Perhaps some of you have had touch-and-go challenges you are navigating this year?
Then this came to me: that touch-and-go could be interpreted in a different way akin to how the elite and hyper-skilled athletes who free-solo headwalls of stone, like El Capitan in Yosemite, move and advance. They find and touch one minuscule handhold, grab it, then go. One tiny foothold they touch, then go. I wonder if they allow themselves to look backward or downward at the ground they just covered, or focus upward and forward, touch-then-go, and so ascend, and survive, one step at a time moving toward their goal and destination. Touch-and-go also describes the action of stepping stones that help us move toward our future self. We can feel a momentary stability and gratitude for a landing pad, taking time to breathe, rest, center as we await the next move. Now when fear appears, I rally my strength, focus and sense of purpose, in hopes of not looking back but to keep moving forward, grateful for each step and gifts along the way.
Our New SolLunar Cycle takes place in sidereal Virgo opposite Jupiter in Pisces, launching an expansive new phase bringing positive, confident energy to our endeavors with a sense of improvement in one’s current situation. But Jupiter also amplifies and agitates situations which means this transit doesn’t always lead to positive outcomes. There can be massive water emergencies, like hurricane Ian about to hit Florida, increased polarization between humans, feeling out of control which can lead to increased addictive behaviors.
Other key events during this four-week period include three planets completing their retrogrades: Mercury on October 2, Pluto on October 8 and Saturn on October 22. And the always inspiring Sun/Venus conjunction in Libra occurs on October 22 in which Venus leaves the last ninth-month phase of being the Morning Star and becomes the Evening Star once again. May you enjoy harvesting the abundance of this year and nurture all you hold dear.
Please have a look at this link for an upcoming event I am honored to be a presenter in called Across the Water: Moving to Higher Ground taking place in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on October 29 – 30 2022.
And check out the new section at the end of this post called Endeavors to Nurture in which I alert you to projects/organizations/people I find of interest. I am happy to highlight the humanitarian work of my dear friend, Julia Heemstra, and her visionary, cutting-edge organization, AMANZI:WatertoSchools.
Thank you my friend, Jana Craighead Smith, for capturing the magic you see in the waters highlighting the beauty of autumn’s changing colors through the eyes of water.
Sidereal Astrology Mentoring and Readings
My posts are based on the true astronomical alignments of the planets with the constellations, also referred to as the sidereal zodiac. I use the phases of the Moon as the scaffold for my posts because the Moon functions like an energetic portal mediating between the heavens and our wondrous Earth. My entries are based on the aspects occurring each week as they crescendo, crest and dissipate over the course of their influence. As you work with and within the natural flow of time and the supportive cosmic energies that each unique SolLunar Cycle brings, life can flow with more ease, grace and understanding.
I delight in mentoring students—individually, with families or groups, and via workshops and conferences—who want to learn more about how to use sidereal astrology as a helpful tool for insight and awakening. Consider booking a mini-reading with me for $44 or $88, the numbers of living your Mastery on Earth. In these short readings, I discuss key personal transits that are happening for you in 2022 and beyond. Send me an email if you are interested in those options, or a full Natal Map, Update, Relationship Map, Young Adult or Child’s Map. Thank you!

New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Virgo
At the New Moon, you are sprouting like a seed with new creative inspiration. Receive your unique insights by sitting in mediation or just be open to new possibilities arising within you from the sea of infinite creation.
New SolLunar Cycle in sidereal Virgo: Sun/Moon in Virgo opposite Jupiter in Pisces: Sun September 25 3:54 pm MT
Our New SolLunar Cycle begins in sidereal Virgo, the sign of being service-oriented, always seeking to improve, refine and organize things, and to focus on health. These might be the kinds of activities you pursue in the coming four weeks. The opposition of optimistic, expansive Jupiter to both the Sun and Moon brings positive, confident energy to our endeavors and a sense of improvement in one’s current situation. But Jupiter also amplifies and agitates situations which means this transit doesn’t always lead to positive outcomes. There can be massive water emergencies, like hurricane Ian about to hit Florida, increased polarization between humans, feeling out of control which can lead to increased addictive behaviors. The Sun will make its annual exact opposition to Jupiter on Mon September 26 so this New Moon is a two-day event. May you enjoy harvesting the abundance of this year and nurture all you hold dear.

Venus in Virgo opposite Jupiter in Pisces: Sat October 1
Oppositions in astrology often pressure us to take sides or see things from another angle. With this one two animal medicines come to mind: Eagle — who helps us see the big inclusive view — and Mouse — who notices the small important details that can tilt the balance or shift the outcome. This dual focus can involve a creative project, financial decision, one’s love life — Venus.

Things tend to feel energetic sensitive, strange, mystical when Chiron makes itself known, luring us away from the left-brain Virgo-world into the right-brain mystical Pisces-land. Use its gifts to sort out how to write, paint, create something that is very intangible that you want to bring into some kind of understandable expression. Be open to miracles. At times in becomes imperative we surrender the need to control outcomes and embrace this natural healing energy to assist us. Full Moons are always highly energizing and motivating and this one linked to Chiron can feel more surreal or magical, like Halloween-come-early, which also means your ‘shadow’ issues might rise up with ferocity to be heard, healed, integrated. A healing crisis might occur brought on by the tension between the Sun — one’s conscious, visible self — and the Moon — one’s shadow or hidden desires and motivations. Use this sky gift to create a prayer circle or healing ritual for yourself and/or others.
